This will be my last post on this topic. So I'll try to be clear. I
can be a prick sometimes, but to most of my customers I'm very friendly. I get a lot of regular customers and make new regulars every day. But when it comes to people who come into the store I work at and feel that they can get away with whatever they want, that doesn't sit well with me. So when someone comes in and pisses me off, I ask them to leave. If I ask you to leave, you have to. It's not even a matter of trying to "flex a little muscle" (I know, not literally), it's the law. As a customer, you can break a return policy, but not the law.
Here is a true account of what happened to me once.
A "customer" came to me one day wanting to trade some games. I told him how much his trade was (about $10 for 6 old sports games). He said I had to give him more than that. After explaining that I don't make the trade values, I said that he didn't have to trade them in at all. He could keep them. Well he wanted to argue and I didn't. I said his two choices were to trade them in and leave or just leave. He didn't like that either. Now I told him he had to leave or I'd call the cops. He said just what you said. "Officer [Idontcare] will side with me." No he won't He'll do his job. The officer came and asked what the problem was. I said that I offered $10 credit, he didn't like it caused problems and I asked him to leave. He asked the customer if that was true, he said "well it's like this." The officer said to him "well, you have two choices: you can trade them in at the value he (me) said, or you can leave." Customer said "no, you need to make him give me more credit." That's when the oficer took him outside explained how things work in the real world (I don't know what he actually said I still had other customers that I was helping through the whole ordeal). Then he was frisked on the glass storefront, put in handcuffs and put in the cruiser. the officer asked if I wanted a tresspass order placed on him. I'm not cruel, I didn't want this to happen. I told him to just tell him to leave and not come back and I'd be okay with it.
End of story. Well, not really. He then went to our other store and traded the games in without incident.
So there ya go. You will be in the wrong and you won't get your way when the police come to sort it out. Sorry for the longwinded post, but I had to get that out. Have a nice day. PM me if you want to continue the conversation.
