TRU 12/22 $9.99 Game Sale Experiences/Stories

Last week I bought DDS1 before I even knew it was going on sale.

I took it back and was able to get a price adjustment on it. So now not only do I have DDS1, I now have $40 extra. That's $40 to spend on more games later.

I didn't buy any games, but none of the employees there knew about the sale. The lady working the register in the customer service center was quite surprised to see a refund coming my way through their sneaky sale.

I might go back tommorrow to actually buy a few of the games, as I have family members that have expressed an interest in some of the games listed there. IF they have any left. XD

Just a modest Tekken 5 and Final Fantasy 1&2 for myself. The TRU near me doesn't have a great selection, but good enough. It was cool because no one in the store had a clue about the clearance, so it felt like my friend and I had our own little cheap game haven.

I asked if they had zelda four swords and the girl said "yup we do" and grabbed it. The guy was like "damn, you figured it out". There weren't any on the shelves and he had hidden it behind the "Display only" case in the glass case behind the counter.

I think the girl was happy to take away the guys game. The guy... not so much.

Also in one I saw a guy walking around with a list like the one I had. When I'm in line buying the stuff (I had some doubles) the clerk said "buying a lot of gifts?". I said ya, the doubles are gifts. The guy I saw earlier with a list yells "or ebay" then he asks me if I found them on sweetdeals or fatwallet. I said neither then laughed and shrugged him off.
Kinda funny, I had about 15 games and he had 2. I think I was a step ahead of him the whole time he was in the store.

picked up RE 4.

i got there around 12 and there were 4 copies on the shelf. when i walked in there was a bin that said "Sale 9.99" or something about games being on sale and it was empty so i didn't have my hopes up. but they did have pretty much every game i looked at from the list.

this store was in AL, pm me if you need specifics b/c it looked pretty much untapped at the time.

I picked up:

Mario Party 4 (GC)
Tekken 5 (PS2)
Ninja Gaiden (XBOX)
Wario Ware, Inc. Mega Party Games! (GC)
2x Golden Sun The Lost Age (GBA)
FF I&II Dawn of Souls (GBA)
Mario Pinball Land (GBA)

Here are my TRU pickups (so far):

PS2:
Killer 7
Killzone

GC:
Resident Evil 4
Pikmin 2

Xbox:
Project Snowblind
Sid Meier's Pirates (x3)

All were picked up from 1 TRU store. I just went today and found out that they've separated all the $9.98 games and put them in one bin. Not much to find now, plenty of Transformers, EA sports games, Trigger Man, and Gungriffon.

Well, I did end up picking up something, the only game I really wanted - Megaman Battle Network 4: Red Sun.

To think, I've never paid more then $10 for any game in that series, and I now own them all except for part 5 (waiting for another clearance lol).

Im kinda bummed right now, I cant go till like 2 weeks after christamas because the nearest TRU is very far. Can someone pick me up some games. Im looking for...
-GBA-
Final Fantasy DoS
Final Fantasy Tactics Advance
Golden Sun
Golden Sun The Last Age
-PS2-
Killzone
Guilty Gear
Resident Evil

I don't think the first Golden Sun (and I know not RE4 PS2) are on sale.

I had djak1 pick up Fatal Frame 2, Pikmin 2, and Pirates! and ship them to me for $36. I didn't bother going to TRU because I had a final at 8 am and my stores is usually pretty shiity when it comes to sales.

At this point its getting tough on here. Dont get me wrong, I dont mind helping people when trying to find what they missed and I got. If I have more than 1, Ill sell at cost plus s/h. I dont care if the game is rare, sells for more on ebay, can get more in trade in but Ive yet to be helped in 1 single game that I missed out on and couldnt find. Apparently the stuff I got is worth half what all the others are. Its def getting to the point where its easier to flip shit and just buy what I wanted or missed with the profits if I choose to go that route.

Damn, I walked in to TRU today looking for "Golden Sun: TLA" today because I had thought it was the first Golden Sun which was on sale. Somehow I walked out with 12 games...

From the National City, CA store (who now has a table set up with 9.98-9.99 games) I picked up one copy each of the following:

Golden Sun: The Lost Age (GBA)
Transformers (PS2)
Virtua Quest (PS2)
Psychonauts (PS2)
Alien Hominid (PS2)
Killer 7 (PS2)
Haunting Ground (PS2)
Unreal Championship 2 (XBX)
Dragon Ball Z Sagas (XBX)
The Bard's Tale (XBX)
The Kinf of Fighters: Maximum Impact Maniax (XBX)
Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles (NGC)

There were multiple copies left of each game. I can probably take requests of "cost + shipping" of many of the games on the sale list if anyone out there wants to shoot me a PM.

Just got back from TRU, had to pick up a cheapy ass copy of Bloodrayne 2 for my husband (ugh, its just TODAY he realizes there is a TRU sale going on).

Place was a zoo. There was a huge ass line in the video game section, and the only way you could tell if something was really in stock was by checking the glass security cases.

A super nice lady snuck me in line ahead of her when I pointed out some games that were on sale. She was ecstatic to get a bunch of $10 games for her kids. I was ecstatic not to have to wait in line for another half hour.

I might go back later tonight, after like 10 pmish, when the crowds die down, to try and score some more cheapy games for the hubby, since the games he wants are the kind of crappy ones that aren't high on everyone's list.

/truth. I have hooked up quite a fe wpeople, but the couple games I was looking for and proposed trades I got the equivalent answer of "Well my game is a little rare and worth more so I'd need something extra". Mind you, hardly any of these games will be worth anything until the bible-forecasted "GREAT FATWALLET EBAY FLOOD OF 2005" subsides, and I'm offering games on these peoples wanted list, AND WE BOTH BOUGHT THESE GAMES FOR THE SAME PRICE. Some days I feel bad that I now sell more on ebay than I trade, but today is not one of those days due to shit like that.

I'm not going to go into details on how many of each game I got, because someone ignorant might bitch about how many of a certain title I picked up. I busted my ass, woke up at 6:30, went to 4 TRU's and drove almost 200 miles, bot back about 8 PM. My list (some in multiple quantities):

PS2
Digital Devil Saga
Metal Slug 4/5
Bard's Tale
Romance IX
Romance X
DBZ Sagas
Psychonauts

Gamecube
Pikmin 2
Resident Evil 4
Mario Party 4
4 Swords
Virtua Quest

GBA
Golden Sun Lost Age

PSP
Darkstalkers
Rengoku
Dead To Rights
2 x PSP Pro Starter Kits

In retrospect, I probably should have picked a few games to trade or fool around with, such as RE4, Samurai Western or Killer 7, but I can't complain. I was pretty lucky with my haul considering I didnt buy earlier then return for a price adjust. I might go back out tomorrow to the 2 that were well stocked to see if theres any GBA stuff. What makes me happier is what all I was able to accomplish with the $400 or so I spent:

- I got all the games I wanted on my list
- I got some nice presents
- I hooked up 6 people (here and GTZ) with stuff for cost plus ship
- I hooked up employees and early morning shoppers with the list so they could get in before the madness
- I hooked up some Game Crazy employees that will now give me heads up on sales and throw me promo swag
- I traded about $65 worth of stuff for $160 in Game Rush credit that will get me some good RPGs next year (provided the dickheads actually get them in)
- I have some items to ebay that will get me a good chunk of my $ back. If not now, in a month - I can be patient.

One last thing for all the people whining about hoarding and buying early. 1) - You thought you knew about hoarding before FatWallet got wind of this? Yeah, you didn't know shit - those people ar eprofessional locusts. 2) - I went to 2 TRU's in close proximity first - Boardman and Niles, OH. I had my pick out of everything there, I spent a majority of my total. I left a TON of games, partly due to me still being hungover, partly just because I didnt need them. It took a little bit to go across NE Ohio, and ended up at the next TRU's about noon. At noon, the Cuyahoga Falls TRU was DESTROYED - it was a gigantic mess. They had at least 30 copies of RE4 that were all gone, and any game with significant ebay value was gone. Someone had bought all but 1 of the 6 DDS the night before and was price adjusting them. I didn't get anything there, but then went to one of the Akron TRU's. They had a decent selection (they didn't have much to begin with, but there was Mario Party 4 left). Upon talking to the employee, someone had been there about 10 and spent $430 - $300 of that just on Resident Evil 4's. Yes, he bought 30 copies of RE4. He was a Fatwalleter and apparently was really beligerent when DDR was ringing up 29.99.

So i ask you people that do that complaining, is that why I am supposed to leave stuff behind? That I am morally obligated to give someone else the opportuniy to buy every damn game in the store? I wish it wasn't true, but the way sales like this happen it's survival of the fittest. Not to mention the "reward" I get for driving 200 miles and busting my ass for 12 hours is people wanting me to give them my games for $13 bucks each. A lot of people on this site and others need to realize how much easier it is to not put any effort and just ask for things rather than be the one giving. Just a thought.

well I was there at 8 and one of my TRU had all the 9.99 titles in a bin, apparently DDS wasn't in there so some guy got in before me. I did pick up a crap load of games though. haha some guy put back RE 4 as it was the last copy and went back looking for it as I snatched it!

RE 4
RUmble Roses
Beatdown
ROTK 10
ROTK 9
Samurai Western
Lifeline
FF 2 crimson butterflies
Golden Sun
Haunting Grounds

Boooo, cleaned out, Covina Toys R Us, they had put all the $10 in a bin, only got Pikmin 2 for a friend.

EDIT: Hmmm, its worth quite a bit, COULD be a nice store trade in for Trauma Center....

My copy of Dragon Ball Z Sagas arrived in the mail today. Surprisingly, it was shipped on the 22nd. Amazon still claims I'm not going to recieve it till the 27th.

GBA:
- Metal Slug Advance

GameCube:
- Resident Evil 4
- Pikmin 2
- Wario Ware, Inc.

Xbox:
- Area-51
- Pirates!
- Dead or Alive: Ultimate

I went today to check out a TRU to see what the leftovers were and all they had was 1 copy of Pikmin 2. The best entertainment was free. There were some soccer mom's in there wanting to know where the 4.99 games were and when the manager told them that the price drops on most of that stuff went down thurs and they were bought before the ad came out. They raised hell about this and that etc etc and no rain checks etc etc. It was kinda funny IMO.

I went to TRU on December 22nd and got these games:

PS2:
Killer 7
Star Ocean 3 (Original, non GH version)
Metal Slug 4/5 (x2, one for friend)
Digital Devil Saga (for friend)

GC:
Resident Evil 4
Virtua Quest

GBA:
Klonoa 2: Dream Tournament Champion

I went there and it was crowded with last minute shoppers (thankfully non of which knew about the clearance). That was until one man came in with a big list (from slickdeals.net), who told me he was planning on reselling the games to GS. Amazingly, he gave up rather quickly and I didn't see him anymore. I quickly grabbed the items I came for (Star Ocean 3, Killer 7 and Klonoa were the only ones out there) and got in line. When it was my turn, I asked the cashier to help me find the games on my list, which he did. He was a very kind and helpful person during the transaction.

Thanks to his help, I got the above items in a quick matter.

I decided to stop by another TRU today while my brother went to a nearby Circuit City. I walked out with:

Wario ware inc. Mega Party Game$! (NGC)
Wario ware inc. Mega Micro Game$! (GBA)
King of Fighters Maximum Impact Collector's Edition (PS2)

There were still a bunch of games at my TRU today

I should know by now to hit the sales a bit earlier since the people in my area do not know how to clean things out.

I got FFI&II and F-zero GX

They had all the games on a shelf next to where the stuffed animals are, the store is set up so you have to walk through an aisle of the latest overpriced stuff to get anywhere and the games were right at the end of that aisle.

They had beyblade g-revolution, battlebots, ffI&II (lots of copies of this) and a couple f-zero gx and some other misc games for ps2, there was nearly no ps2 stuff left but quite a bit of gba. They also had racing gears advance gba but i passed since i have way too many gba games now.

Ok, so it seems Im not going for a loong time, so Im left out in the dark. Am I getting a good deal $22.00 for FF1&2 and GoldenSun:TLA?

If you plan on playing them yes. If you plan to just sell them no the profit margain isn't that great on those two games

I went into TRU right after school on 12/22 looking for RE4. However, I looked through each bin and couldn't find it. I was about to give up, but then I notice some games stuck in the spaces between each bin. And what game did I see? RE4. I walked out of TRU with just Metal Slug 4/5, R-Type Final, and Resident Evil 4. I went back on 12/26 because I forgot to look for Final Fantasy I & II and Digital Devil Saga. I didn't find DDS, but TRU was loaded with DoS since most of the GBA games were kept on the shelves. I definitely would've picked up more games (Legend of Dragoon, Pikmin 2, Star Ocean 3, Syphon Filter, Mortal Kombat: Deadly Alliance), but I had already decided to set the $160 I had left towards my Zen.

went back today. looks like the bread aisle at walmart after they announce an ice store or hurricane or something. i did pick up a 4.99 game advertisement and drive to walmart to pm psychonauts for xbox.

what else on that advertisement is worth pm'ing...metroid2?...gt4?

I went to TRU on the 26th with no confidence on finding anything whatsoever, luckily I found the last Darkstalkers Chronicles for PSP which was exactly what I went to get. The 27th I went to the TRU in Fox Valley and got Dead to Rights Reckoning, saw the display box for Resident Evil 4 but to no surprise they were out, not that I would have gotten it anyway.

I think i've finally made the final trip to TRU today. Got Geist and a DOA Ulitimate which i'm guessing was returned because I didn't find it the day the clearance started.

My Complete Haul:

Metal Slug 4/5x3(1 for trade for Pirates, 1 trade with Scorch 1 and 1 for me)
Metal Slug Advance
Romance of the three kingdoms X
Pikmin 2 x2 (1 for a Epic Wolf)
DOA: Ultimate
Predator Concrete Jungle
Kolona : Dream Champ Tournament
Digital Devil Saga 1
Darkstalkers Chronicle x2 (1 for a Epic Wolf)
Geist
Viewtiful Joe
World Championship Poker: Deluxe
Conker
Pariah x2 (1 traded to Scorch)
Final Fantasy DoS x2 (1 traded to Scorch)
Final Fantasy Tactics Advance (not from clerance but green tagged)
Dynasty Warriors 5
Dark Cloud 2
Cold Winter
Psychonauts

Wow I guess it's nice to have a full time job when these clearances start.
The only games I wanted that I didn't get are Zelda Four Swords and Area 51

I stopped in westland MI TRU yesterday and picked up neo contra, if anyone in the area wants final fantasy crystal chronicles they had like 15 copies of it.

God I need a TRU Anonymous club or something...I just can't quit. Stinking $10 games...its just WRRROOONG.....I've got half a dozen or so TRU's around me and I can't quit going to them (and they keep getting restocked it seems). Good thing there are 4 gamers in the family to play all these things:

NDS
Madden 05
Mr Driller
CS:Chaos Theory
Monster Trucks/Nanostray ($30 for both)

GBA
Ace Combat Advance
FF 1&2
Hobbit
Tron 2.0
Wario Ware Inc
Frogger

PSP
Dead 2 Rights
Rengoku

GameCube
Pikmin 2
RE4
Zelda Four Swords
Geist
MP2

PS2
Bards Tale
DBZ Sagas
Delta Force Blackhawk Down
Digital Devil Saga 1
Ghost In The Shell
Killer 7
Killzone
Neo Contra
Silent Hill 4
Transformers
True Crime Streets of LA

And I still can't quit.....Thank God we don't have an Xbox or it would be even worse.
