Here it is, the green tag thread for this year. I posted last years and decided it was probably time to start this years thread, so hopefully everything can stay in here. Anyway, on with the deal...

Starting July 3rd(started 2 weeks early) all green tag items will be 30% off. This will last for 4 weeks, then on August 14th they will be upped to 50% off and remain this way(date may be changed slightly). An additional drop will occur based on how good the stuff sells.

This year, they are actually ordering merchandise specifically for the green tag sale. Over 200 items are being ordered just for the sale. Besides that, there will be discontinued items and a few active items in the sale. Also, some green tag items from last year didn't drop to a penny. These items will be part of the sale(so instead of 90% off, you get 30% off now).

Monday July 4th - the big day. Stores get a list of what they have that will be on green tag. Stores can also look up every item thats part of the sale, so this is the day the list will most likely be out.

So it looks like there will be some good deals, but probably not as good as last year. I'm sure they'll make a few mistakes people will catch at the beginning(such as DDR being green tag for the first few days last year). Zon posted that his store got in some green tag games late last week, so its possible those may be part of this new deal(Attack of the Clones for GBA was one I think). Good luck everyone and lets hope this ends up being as great as last year.

Update 8/5 - The 50% markdown happens Sunday 8/14 definitely. Stores have started receiving the signs, so all those who were hoping it would happen then are in luck! More markdowns are still to be determined based on how good the stuff sells at 50%.

UPDATE 10/27 - THE GLITCH! Since everyone still can't seem to get the glitch correctly, here it is. Take 3 games you want for the Buy 2 get 1 free deal and make sure they are all exactly the same price. They cannot even be a penny different in price. Two of them must be green tag games and the third must be a regular price game. Make sure that the cashier rings the two green tag games first then the regular priced game. The system will give you both green tag games for half off and the regular priced game will be free. Here are two examples for those who still do not understand.

Transaction 1(this will ring correctly):
PS2 Mega Man Anniversary Collection $29.99 (green tag game)
PS2 MTV Remix 3 $29.99(green tag game)
XB Ninja Gaiden Black $29.99(regular priced game)
Total before discount $89.97
Then the discount is processed and you get this:
PS2 Mega Man Anniversary Collection $14.99 (green tag game)
PS2 MTV Remix 3 $14.99(green tag game)
XB Ninja Gaiden Black $0.00(regular priced game)
Total $29.98

Transaction 2(this does not ring correctly because you gave them to the cashier in the wrong order):
PS2 Mega Man Anniversary Collection $29.99 (green tag game)
XB Ninja Gaiden Black $29.99(regular priced game)
PS2 MTV Remix 3 $29.99(green tag game)
Total before discount $89.97
Then the discount is processed and you get this:
PS2 Mega Man Anniversary Collection $14.99 (green tag game)
XB Ninja Gaiden Black $29.99(regular priced game)
PS2 MTV Remix 3 $0.00(green tag game)
Total $44.98

Transaction 3(this does not ring correctly either because you don't know how to buy 3 games that are the EXACT SAME PRICE):
PS2Mega Man Anniversary Collection $29.99 (green tag game)
PS2 La Purcelle Tactics $29.95 (green tag game)
XB Ninja Gaiden Black $29.99(regular priced game)
Total before discount $89.93
Then the discount is processed and you get this:
PS2 Mega Man Anniversary Collection $14.99 (green tag game)
PS2 La Purcelle Tactics $0.00 (green tag game)
XB Ninja Gaiden Black $29.99(regular priced game)
Total $44.98

Update 2 - 10/27 - THERE IS STILL NO CONFIRMED DATE FOR MORE THAN 50% OFF. It is all rumors as of right now. According to corporate, bigger discounts will be based on sell through of the merchandise, which right now seems to be going along with plan. I wouldn't expect until the end of November or December at the earliest to get a bigger percantage off, but once again that is not confirmed and just speculation. It wasn't until after Christmas last year the 90% hit.

Special thanks to Zon and Benboxer for their contributions to the green tag sale info.

**** = EXTREME YMMV - only offered online, only way you'll find it in a store is if someone returned it from online.

For us lazy CAGs, has anyone made a list of which games are 50% off at TRU (and not too hard to find) and are also not POX at EB (ie can be used to preorder Zelda)?

Backlash, I haven't and there are probably very few below $10. One thing I've noticed are the odd YMMV differences between TRU's. Example, Fatal Frame 2 for PS2 green tagged at 12.98 at one TRU. Baldurs Gate for GCN at $8-something. A few others here and there.

Just so you know there are occasional differences between different TRUs :) (the Gamecube Case is the biggest obvious difference with price differences from $2-$30 and in between).

Queens, NY store:

Katamari Damacy for $10 (still plenty left)
Get on Da Mic for $7.50 (got the last one)

LOTS of Outlaw Golf 2 left, didn't pick one up.

LOTS of random old sports games that were on the list. Ick.

LOTS of Thief for XBOX and Van Helsing for PS2.

Strangely enough, no Trivial Pursuit or Intellivision Lives, both of which I was looking for.

A few others that were less interesting. That's all I saw that I recall, but the displays were a mess.
So the stores have been restocked with green tag games as of yesterday yes?

(Sorry i've been away for a while)
I'll take this as yes?

i'm going to TRU today to see what i can find. i'm hoping that since i'm in Mississippi not to many people will be going to this sale. i'll post my findings later.
Was that with or without the mic?
I didn't even know you could get it without the mic. Never seen it that way...

Also, I had some fun with this game, even though the reproductions are pretty terrible.

.98-ending prices are normally YMMV from store to store, even in the same area. One could be $12.98, the next could be $11.98, and a third could be $13.98. Normally, they lower the price in stores that don't sell a title well, and higher in stores that do. Normally, it's not much more than +/- $2 from the "middle" price.

Anyone looking for Shin Megaim Tensei Nocture: there were at least 4 copies left at the TRU next to Oxfor Valley Mall in Oxford Valley, PA.
For us lazy CAGs, has anyone made a list of which games are 50% off at TRU (and not too hard to find) and are also not POX at EB (ie can be used to preorder Zelda)?
I would also like to know this, because I can get Demon Stone and a bunch of other games for $10.
probably as long as you don't open them, you should be fine.
Ok, so they do not allow me to do the price match for the online purchase from their site. Anyone have idea what I should do? I have never returned or price matched anything to Toys "R" Us or toysrus.com, so I have no clue what I should do. A little help please? :)
Crap games at the South Houston location
Mediocre games at an inexpensive price, and you're complaining?! Back when I was a child, all the games were crap (and we were happy to have them). :D

I picked up:

Onimusha 3 (PS2) 7.47
Maximum Chase (XBOX) 4.58
Soul Calibur (XBOX) 9.99
Galleon (XBOX) 9.99
FF Tactics (PS1) 7.49

They had 3 or 4 Gallop Racers, nothing worthwhile on GBA except maybe Broken Sword. They did have Get On Da Mic for 7.50, and tons of Thief, Driv3r, Bloodrayne, and Van Helsing.

I think they had Intellivision and Trivial Pursuit, but not green tagged.

I got a Transformers guide and a DDR Ultra Mix, and they did get scanned in, promo'ed down from 9.99 (eek!) to 0.00.

I think I'm going to go back for a couple of the GC Platinum box sets -- they're $4.98, but not marked with a green tag. None of the other TRUs here have them.

I'd like to know too.

I was able to pick up a few copies of the following:

Galleon (Xbox)
Batman Vengeance (GCN)
Nightmare Of Druaga (PS2)
PK Out of the Shadows (GCN)

I also received copious amounts of DDR Extreme soundtracks, DDR Ultramix 2 soundtracks, and Metal Gear Solid 3 movie demos.

I was pretty happy about receiving all the free stuff to go along with my clearance stuff. I was also pretty tempted to buy a classic gen "Hoist" Transformer for $6.

I'm guessing that the stuff now on clearance will remain on clearance until it's sold or marked for destruction, the same way the last series of clearance items that reached a penny got taken out to the dump.

Totally should've gotten Hoist.
Totally should've gotten Hoist.
I might have to go back and get him. They still had 3 of them when I left. They also had a blue mini-van looking guy that I can't remember the name of. He was a classic gen figure, but I can't remember him from my youth and he was still $12.
um...demidkids dark version has been $9.98 online forever

Right Here
anyone wanna take a stab at why the dark version is ten and the white version is 20

Picked up Katamari and R Type Final. The local Toys R Us didn't have much (hoping for Street Fighter and maybe Red Dead Revolver), but I can't complain I got both games for 15 bucks. I might go back and pick up these Metal Travel Cases.
...was hoping for Katamari.
Yes, I was hoping to find Katamari as well but had no such luck. I guess it's back to BB with coupon.
I went to the Brookfield TRU, They had a bunch of PO games for $5, Batman Vegence-GC, Trivial Pursuit-PS2, Spyhunter-GC. I grabbed 3 of each and preordered my Zelda and Nascar.

Anyone from the Milw area know if Browndeer or 27th have any
Kung Fu Chaos XB
Bloodrayne XB
Checked today while running errands: Browndeer's TRU has the worst selection of the 4 in the Milwaukee / Racine area. I saw 1-2 games that I hadn't seen elsewhere (Deus Ex 2 - XBox being the one which came to mind), but not a whole lot of variety or rare titles.

The PS2 games in the green tag bin were: Driv3r, Maximo and..uh. Well, only those two.

I found something interesting, however. Two copies of Alien Hominid. I thought that game sold out months ago.

Got 2 games from last year's clearance:

Chaos Legion $2.24
Soul Calibur 2 x5 $1.24 each

And for those who say I'm hoarding SC2, I left about 5 more copies, plus I gave it enough time before I got them, since they're the same copies that I didn't pick up from the LAST sale.

Now to trade in for my Zelda preorder. Man it feels good to get Zelda for less than 7 bucks...

Good luck trading in multiples on one deal.

Just went to my closest TRU (L.A.)and picked up
FF:tactics PSX 7.50
Ghosthunter PS2 10.00
Demonstone PS2 10.00
and X2 wolvie Twist-em for .99
They had stacks of both Metroid GBA and Spy fiction but I passed on those for now. Also worth mentioning they have Hoist and silverstreak transformers ($6), marvel mini mates 4 pak(4.50) and LOTR mini mates 4 pak (5.00).
Good luck trading in multiples on one deal.
Well, heres my plan: Trade in 2 copies plus 2 other games for Nascar preorder at one EB. Trade another 2 copies and another 2 games at another EB. Trade last copy in for regular credit (about $6). Return to previous 2 EBs and cancel bothe preorders and get store credit. They won't take 5 copies, but they've taken 2 of the same copy at a time before.

Plus, I had them check Monster Hunter and it's still at $30, though it does have a promo code, though no one knew what the promo is.

Has anybody gotten Baten Kaitos? My store rang them up and said they weren't green tagged. Here's what I got:

Iridion II (GBA) = $7.49
Metal Slug 3 (XBOX) = $19.99
Ultimate Halo Companion DVD = $2.29
Ultimate Halo Companion DVD = $2.29
Xbox Pro Gamer Aluminum Case = $14.99

My buddy bought 6 Powder Puffs (GCN) for $4.74 each and traded them into Game Crazy $19.25 a piece. Now that's flipping at it's finest.

For anyone that's wondering about Baten Kaitos. The regular version is green tagged. The TRU exclusive version with the soundtrack is still $30. I got both versions. Hopefully, someone might want the exclusive version sometime down the road.

It's a great time to be a cheap ass gamer.

Wait, how did you get SC2 for $1.24? And if you meant they're from last year's clearence...why are you posting them now?

grabbed a few today - not a bad deal.

Second Sight - $5 ( OP should update the list with price of 9.99 for this, not 19.99)
Demon Stone - $10
r-Type Final - $5
Nightshade - $10
Gradius V - $15 --- w000t

Is it possible stuff was removed from the list when it changed to 50% off? I found ATV Quad Power Racing 2 for Gamecube which is on the list but the case was not green tagged. It rung up $14.98 promo which I thought for sure would mean it was green tagged but when the cashier totaled it, it rung up for the full $14.98.

if anyone wants a gallop racer 2004 let me know. i just grabbed another one for trades .. man i hate TRU, i went in there to get a price adjustment and ended up spending another 15 bucks... I was just going in there to get the price adjusted off the game and the worker goes we only got 2 more of these Games you sure you dont want 1 more. So i gave them 15 bucks and got another one .... Cant wait till SEPT 27 for 70% off. There are some games i would like to grab but even at 50% off they are not worth it
