TRU Green Tag sale on games to end 11/21/05
Mine is one of the worst I have seen. Prices are way out of date, half the things GT'd aren't marked (which, like you said, has been to my advantage), and most of the games that have been released in the past two months are nowhere to be seen on the floor, yet are all in the back.

It's real, real sad.
To answer your question about the GT'd Wavebirds, it's the white ones in the old plastic blister pack with the flat bottom, which allows them stand up on a shelf. The new packaging can only hang from a peg. Apparently, the old packaging has a different SKU.

But I have a TRU that uses the ticket system. So it doesn't matter if they have Wavebirds with the old packaging in the back or not. It only matters that I can find a ticket with the old SKU. The people who get stuff out of the store room don't know the difference. And pretty much all the tickets have the old SKU. So last time, I ended up getting platinum Wavebirds for the GT price. Like I said, they don't know the difference.

The GT'd PS2 screens are the 5.6" models. Can't remember the brand.
Well, it's not universally $19.99. It's still $50 at EB, Best Buy, etc. It's only $19.99 at Target B&M, and none of my Target stores have it. But I know my TRU has multiple copies, so yes, to me this is very hot.
Don't know if its been posted yet but both the PS2 and the Gamecube versions of this were 19.99 the other day when I stopped in at my GR.
I may pick up Xenosaga II if it's definitely $10.
I think right now Xenosaga II is already $10 green tagged.

Not to be the killjoy of this topic, but can anyone who works at TRU confirm this? Otherwise, to me it's a rumor being reported by a newb, hard to believe 100%. :whistle2:k
I hate my life, I'm never gonna get Shin Megami Tensei: Nocturne.

:(
I have a disk only copy I'd part with for cheap if you want it that bad.

And it can be had new at the Altus website. Though, not for half off like TRU would be.

The 2 Metroids are really the only games worth buying that my store still has. Everything else is pretty much just crap. But it will be nice if any of the stuff give good trade in credit;)

Yep, I'm think I'm going to head to GR and see what some of these are worth.

I might as well pick up (?)Viewtiful(?) Joe now... I wish my TRU still had some of those GBA games though..
As sad as it sounds most of America either does not want to or is just to stupid to do the math for the whole green tag thing.
Truth is that it applies to CAGs too, look how many people say things like "Oh i really have to buy Viewtiful Joe/Xenosaga II/etc" when they have been $10 after green tag for a while.

Xenosaga II: I've seen that priced anywhere from $29.95-$49.99 depending on the TRU. If the universal $9.99 pricing on al games is true, I'd have to say it's corporate realizing the employees are too lazy/incompetent to keep up with their own price changes, as opposed to the customers inability to do the math.

The worst part of all is how to price check. Do a price check today on a game and it shows up "game promo", then "pooh promo", and then "reg. $19.99". Green tagging has gotten so out of hand, and the only way to get the true price is to fake the entire transaction before saying "oh wait, I forgot something" if you don't like the real price.

Picked up yesterday:
River City Ransom (GBA) $15
Gekido (GBA) $7.50

I might go back Tuesdayish and see if I can get my $5 for RCR.

picked up an EA Sports edition of an Intec Mini Wireless PS2 controller for $4.98. Not part of the GT sale, but it works great, I played Burnout 3 for a few hours with the controller completely under the covers and it never missed a beat. I've read such bad reviews on those things at Amazon.

Wow. I guess that copy of Drake at mine will be marked up from $3 after GT. Maybe I'll grab it tomorrow when I get Cold Fear.

Then again, maybe not.
according to the OP yes, which is kinda odd in my opinion
It wouldn't be a first. Last year, I saw Soul Calibur 2 and VF4: Evolution
(among others) descend to ridiculously cheap prices. then climb back
up to 19.99 until the latest green tag.
That's right at the close of business on Monday, November 21st all video games will be removed from the green tag sale.

There is good news, however.

I JUST SAVED A BUNCH OF MONEY ON MY CAR INSURANCE BY SWITCHING TO GEICO!!!
Can't believe you passed that one up.

Dave

I went to day and picked up

Bujingai - $25 after GT
Time Splitter FP - $25 after GT
Cold Fear - $10 after GT
FF : Chronicles - $25 after GT

Hmm... that does make me reconsider doing the pricematching. Gift card is a nice bit even if I return all $75 worth next week.

Figure on TS: FP, a few copies of PSO, and maybe a few GBA games, that's $75.

I just skimmed this thread and didn't see if any other TRU employees have already, but I can confirm this is legit. I was going to make this same thread when I got home from work last night, but was already beaten to it.
Can't believe you passed that one up.

Dave
It's mentioned elsewhere in this thread that the green tag sale is ONLY ending on games.
Lots of other stuff is greentag throughout the store ;)
Unless I missed something.

Also to add....

There are other games aside from the known GT titles that are going to $9.99. I'll try to get a print-out tomorrow of all of them that are being marked down (or up, with some games)

And yes - the GT sale is still on for everything else. Only the video games are getting removed. And before any asks, 70% IS STILL UNKNOWN!!!!

Anyone know where I can find a Capcom vs SNK 2 EO? I've checked all the local TRUs and I've come up empty. I'm in Westchester County NY.

It's a great time to be a cheap ass gamer

Made my list, checked it twice, and will be making a trip over to my TRU to check out the stock next tuesday (while I'm on vacation to boot!!).

Thanks for confirming, sp00ge.

Taken from my post in the GR thread for any who is interested.
I also inquired about a few trade-in values in leu of the upcomming TRU sale...

Ace Combat 5 - $6
Cold Fear - $6
Dragon Ball Z Sagas - $10.75
FF Crystal Chronicles - $9.50
Splinter Cell: CT - $12
Time Splitters: FP - $12

Not as great as I hoped

On another note, DTR2 STILL gets $20 trade in for xbox... damn thats amazing.
i might run over to TRU tomorrow and pick up a few games and check out Sam goody in the mall. I just got my new American express card in the mail (no intest till jan 2007) time to go charging : )

already pushed my 1800 college loan on it

Do you get rewards on it? I just got a Student Mastercard a few months ago with rewards and now I try to use it whenever I buy anything even if it's only a few dollars just to earn the reward points (have enough for a $25 restaurant gift card so far). Even more reason to spend.

TRU rocks.

I returned my Copy of AC5 2 days ago that I bought during the B2G1F sale. Using a gift recipt I got 25 in credit. Then today, I used the credit today to re-buy AC5 plus Xenosaga2 plus a GT 3x memory card...

whoo hoo!

Meh... PSO1&2+ vanished along with a few other games I was looking at. I doubt they sold out, as the same copies were in stock forever. Unless another CAG got to them. Ah well. I didn't realize some of the GBA and DS games I was planning on getting eventually were GT'd, but I did pick up Polarium, SC: CT, TS: FP, and Twin Snakes for filler to get my gift card. Total was $96, will be closer to $40 when I do my returns/adjustments. Should add I also got the fiancee a big Pooh bear that is $5 with a $50 purchase (regularly $30)

I guess I'll be going back at some point to get Fire Emblem, Golden Sun, and the Metroids for GBA, and Feel the Magic, and Retro Atari Classics. Might even be able to get another $10 gift card out of those purchases if I do it before Tuesday. Lots of price matching in my future.

Was there any more mention of non-GT'd games being marked down to 9.99 as well? They must have cleared out a lot of shit to empty out an entire aisle for the 360.

I have the list printed up of the 471 games straight from the TRU computer system, if you guys like to see that list. I can scan it.

Any takers?

Definitely scan it! :D

I only have photobucket to host these, so who knows how long that'll last. Someone with better hosting might wanna back em up. Anyways, this isn't in any real order, but it does have the SKN for every game that qualifies.
Is anything on that list new or is it just the same old same old?
I honestly havent a clue. Doubt anything new is there as the link said it was only listing GT games that were being removed. From what I can tell it isn't new stuff. As for why this was done, it appears to be actually have occurred because of green friday; that and apparently having a price of 9.99 will be more appealing. They figure that saying these are 50% implies they're junk and no one wants to buy it.

Anyways, apparently these are to be binned and put in the R Zone; also, some games, as I can gather, will stay GT, and all the accessories will too.

Which Prince of Persia for GC is on that list? If that's Warrior Within, I guess I can bite on that. Time to make a list for my second TRU trip. Thanks for the list!

It's Sands of Time... Warrior Within isn't a GT game.

Man I really want Monster Rancher 4 and Fatal Frame II because I've been waiting for those ones to drop (weird combination I know).

If I can't find them up here in ME, is there a game that someone may want from that list that I'll keep in mind to see if we could trade afterward?

If you're confused as to what game is what given the vague descriptions they have, type the SKN number listed on the list into the search box at tru.com, it'll find you the product page for that item.

Can you return/pricematch purchases from one store at a different TRU? Planning on hitting up one farther away since I'll be out there, but I don't want to have to drive all the way back there to price match any GT games next week or whenever.

I hope you mean Tactics Advance, because the original Tactics is going to go up in price from $7.50 (current GT) to $9.99.
