Actually, most of those games are ALREADY at those prices. I know because I saw 187:Ride or Die for $19.95 on the shelf tonight.

So, maybe that means the guides are already pennies out too. That would be sweet.
 
Thanks for the heads up on Penny Guides OP. I'm going to go and hide some away before workers can pull them off the shelves.
 
Guides arent pennied out yet, i checked em tonight, we have like 50 of those combined so hopefully i can make out with em!
 
Actually, I had them check the WM 21 guide and the Jade Empire guide tonight. Neither were pennied out yet and the store I went to had TONS of copies of the Burnout and NBA Street ones.

I may stop back on like Weds, just to see if they are pennied out already, as I may not be in town on Thursday and will miss getting them.
 
about time,tru list penny guides so slow.I still see same old guides last year.I hope god of war guide still there.

I have a question for you all? I used to buy a bunch of the penny guides and trade them in at Gamestop. THey no longer take guides. So what do you guys do with your extras? I mean I keep 2 of each for myself but what to do with the rest?

Alot of people trade them on this site or give them to friends.

well you could try being courteous and leaving some for other people instead of taking them all for yourself.
 
hehehe If I manage to snag the guides from my one local TRU on Wed(if they drop em early) or Thurs, I know where they're going. Straight to Ebay, like the Warriors guide that I had to BUY from someone who probably got it from the last drop from Best Buy.

Although 99 cents wasn't bad to pay for the guide, they ended up overcharging on shipping and I ended up getting a copy of it from the TRU in Springfield, PA that is going outta biz for $4.80.

What can I say, I'm impatient.
 
Zilch in terms of game drops this time (mostly late arrivals to TRU or cheaper elsewhere), but penny guides sure is nice. Only problem is that my TRU have been out of them for a long time now.
 
I am leaving for TRU right now, they do do price adjustments right?

EDIT: I picked up 2 BO:Revenge guides, one for me and one for anyone here who wants it. I am going back tomorrow to get a price adjustment.
 
I stashed alot of the guides at my one local TRU up behind other guides. I hope the employees are too lazy to shuffle through the guide rack and don't pull them prior to me getting there. I plan on going bright and early tomorrow morning, right when they open, to try and grab a bunch of the guides.

My local store had about 6-7 of the Doom 3 guides, a STACK of the Rainbow 6 ones and assorted amounts of the other ones. I just hope they are all dropping tomorrow, as it would look very stupid to drag a bunch of guides to the register and not have them come up as .01.

I'm still kicking myself for not grabbing the copies of the Xenosaga II and Matrix Online guides when I saw them in Syracuse the other night.

I REALLY need to invest in a printer for this computer, as hand writing down these lists takes longer than it should.

Anyway, best of luck to everyone tomorrow when you go out for penny guides.

Is anyone else finding that God of War has disappered?

I found STACKS of the other guides at two TRU's today, doing recon, but God of War just vanished... it was the only one I wanted, I could care less about the other drops, and i'm confused on why it just disappeared like that.
 
Honestly Roufuss, I've noticed that if the GOW guides are there at all, they're missing one key part:THE DVD. I would rather have 2 copies of each of the penny guides with everything, than search in vain for the GOW guide. Besides which, I still have my copy(which I paid FULL PRICE for)from when I had GOW.

I just hope my local TRU doesn't give me a hassle if I decide to try and clean them out of guides this morning. I have been trying to be nice and leave some guides for someone else, like I did at the Best Buy in Syracuse, though I guess the Xenosaga II and Matrix Online guides were there for a WHILE already(and no one claimed them).

But anyway, good luck in your search, hope you find a GOW guide that is COMPLETE, as I have NOT seem them complete at ANY of the 2-3 TRU stores I've gone to recently.

Penny Guides must be some sort of wonderful myth. I went Tuesday to see if they had any, and they did. Went this morning when they opened and they're all gone. No one else was there before me, they just disappeared. I'm guessing not all TRUs will sell guides for $.01.
 
Well, it depends on your location. Some stores are very quick about pulling them before the store opens. While in other stores you will find guides that have been a penny for more than a few months. It all depends on how picky or anal the manager is.
 
i got a bunch forza and jade empire guides sealed. pm me if anyone wants one.

i got a rainbow six 3 not sealed that i don't need.

they had a butt load others, but i passed because i got the ones i wanted.

from memory they had episode 3, conker and doom 3 and some others...

Well two things to this comment. One if I don't grab within two days the manager Tosses them. Two if I don't buy them there is this Huge (I mean really big!as in over weight) Guy who will buy them all and God knows what he does with them. So in the game of life it is me or him...I choose me!:applause:

I went to TRU & found DOOM 3. Conker, Jade Empire & 1 copy of God of war. So i go to the register and they @(*#*%&^ refuse to sell them to me. They said they cannot sell the guides and have to be destroyed. I talk to the manager and he refuses to sell them. At this time I am waiting for a phone call back from the district manager! Any advice?

Hmm, that's a lot of trouble to go through. It's their policy to destroy and send back the covers to the publisher. Don't think you're accomplishing much by going up the rank, except allerting them to send company-wide memos that will prevent the rest of us from getting any in the future.

You just made a big mistake. DO NOT make a big stink over not getting these. This is not a price mark down but a way that the stores know to destroy their remaining stock in good faith to the publisher who then reimburses them for the destroyed guide. This has been discussed to death if you had bothered to read the 8 million previous postings about this for the last 3 years. If you get them to sell you the guides great. If you don't then shut up and don't ruin it for other people.

OK maybe next time a YMMV next to the guide info may make it clear. I certainly do not want others to lose out. Oh and you shut your pie hole...

well i went back and liberated all their guides before they were burned by managment.
 
I noticed that Star Ocean: Till the End of Time is $9.98 at Amazon/TRU. Almost certainly GH, which means that the manual is shrink-wrapped against the back of the box, but a great price for an enormous (if uneven) RPG. There are probably a few other markdowns like it, too... I know MGS3 is one.

How does the manual come in the original, non-GH version? Inside the keepcase? Is it the same manual? I thought with the 2-disc set, they couldn't cramp in the manual and that's why they shrinkwrapped it outside.

The non-gh the manual is seperated from the playstation case.Kinda suck that star ocean non-gh only have a shiny box.This is the manual I got.One of Circuit City have one I didn't pick it up during the buy 2 get 1 free deal because box was all ding up.



Anyway,back on topic.I pick all the guides on the list except God of War.I got some extra Jade Empire and Conker guide if anybody want one.My back is really sore carry all 22 penny guides,maybe I should buy a car instead of just carry them by hand.Nah,I too cheap.I will stick with unlimited metrocard.
