Starting 3/7 at Toys R Us, all PS2/PS games in the R-Zone value racks will be Buy One get One free. They are underselect skn numbers though so don't try to fool them by saying you got a NFL Street from there.

There are alot of Greatest Hits games in there, so if you are looking to pick up some titles that you have missed, it would be a good opprotinuty. One problem is that boxes are shipped with around 24 games of a select type. They might have PS2 Greatest Hits, Sports, Racing, Family, Action. So it is sort of hard to tell which games are in the box.

Also lately they have been shipping some of the games out of the plastic outer case. So if you see a game $19.99 that has a yellow circle sticker saying R-Zone Value Game that is also included but ask first.
sooo....anyone thinking about trying to get a pricematch at BB/CC/Walmart?
it had crossed my mind, but would it really even be worth it? for all the hassle of doing it on a $10 game, I think I'll pass.
how much is harvest moon priced at?
$19.99, at the TRUs I saw it at. sounds like $10 is a good price for it, given all the positive responses about it in this thread.

is this game really that good?

I got Namco Museum (19.99 has Pacman, etc.) and Resident Evil: CV at the Ann Arbor, MI store.

They had lots of stuff - no Harvest Moon, but plenty of GH games. My purchase didn't ring up correctly (LOTS of the games in the bin didn't have the "special value" sticker!!) and the cashier just said "They're both greatest hits, it doesn't make sense it's not ringing up" and adjusted it by hand.

Moral of the story: Seems like you can get other games (for example, Virtual Fighter 4 Evo) that are greatest hits as long as you tell them you got it from the "special value" area! They'll take one look at all the games not labeled and go "okay..."

that's very employee-dependent, as all the employees at the TRUs I visited knew the Value Zone games arrive in their own plastic casings with different SKU stickers. I actually checked the VZ SKUs vs the normal ones, and they are different. apparently these games arrive at TRUs in these different cases and with the different SKU stickers, so it's no secret which games are in the deal and which ones aren't.

nonetheless, this is certainly worth a shot, but if someone knows better, it's likely you won't get that deal.

EDIT: after reading some of the further posts, I think I meant UPC where I've written SKU above. in any case, the bar codes on the back of the value games are different than the "normal" ones.

My TRU [Cary, NC] didn't have huge selection, but it had a couple copies of Ratchet and Clank that someone above said they haven't seen yet.
Oh, it also had Butt Ugly Martians....
The PS1 games and Ps2 games were in two separate, tough-to-flip-through racks.
I picked up
Devil May Cry
Smuggler's Run
Pac Man World 2
Ratchet and Clank

When Blockbuster wants 6.50 for a rental, ten bucks for almost any game looks like a real bargain.
I specifically saw, in addition to what I bought:

Metropolismanianianaia
Harvest Moon
Spy Hunter
Hitman 2
Pryzm
Mojo
mad Maestro
Kendo [some samurai fighting game?]
Baldur's Gate
HeadHunter
Route 66
Kinetica
Powerpuff Girls: Relish Rampage
Bust-A-Move 2 [I think, it's the one with the baby]
Blood Omen 2
Crazy Taxi
Legaia
Onimusha 2
PK: Out of the Shadows
Project Eden
Savage Skies
Scooby Doo: Night of 100 Frights

The games in the bin were in the PITA translucent plastic case you've got to cut out, and had yellow 'Value Zone' stickers on them, and a UPC sticker stuck on the back of the game. The same game, on the actual shelf, was in the regular hard plastic, they-open-it TRU case, and didn't have that additional UPC sticker or yellow 'Value' sticker.
They may be trying to clear out excess inventory, get down to a certain par level of certain titles in the 'regular' store.

I bought Harvest Moon and Escape from Monkey Island from Toys R Us in Milford, CT. Also grabbed 'Metal Walker' for GBC for $2.98 and Bomberman Jetters for $19.99 (Which is the MSRP, and a good deal if you ask me).

I don't understand something...how are some of you getting the Greatest Hits to be part of the BOGO deal? I found a few where they put the R-Zone value games and they had the new UPC on the back - but no R-Zone sticker, but when I brought them to the counter the guy rang those up at the normal $20. When I asked him, he said that the deal was not GH, but for the "budget" games. I told him that they were part of the lot, but he was like somebody probably just dumped them there and I couldn't get them. They were also about to give me a problem about the number of games I was getting with this deal (other games) and they had to check if there was a limit, which I see there is not.

At another TRU I saw some GH on the rack with the other R-Zone Value games. I hope they don't give me the same problem as the one above.

My 'Value Zone' for PS2 consisted probably 65% of Greatest Hits games. They were packaged and marked clearly differently from the 'regular' GH games, though they appeared to be the same game. Some of them were 'budget' [I assume things like Mojo and Mad Maestro] but most definitely were not.
I thought it was some sort of overstock/overbuy clearance kind of thing, and the actual titles may vary slightly between stores and zones. If they have 1500 copies of GH Devil May Cry, for some reason, and they try to stock 750, maybe they mark 750 as Value to try to move them out and not restock them when they sell out. Just speculatin' here.

I'm second-guessing myself now:
Two questions, and the second depends on the first.
Someone said they wouldn't take them back if that plastic thing was cut, is that true, or YMMV?
Also, if they do take them back [since the game itself is intact and sealed], I'm debating taking back Smuggler's Run for Spy Hunter. Any opinions? I've heard Spy Hunter is short and hard, but I like shooting things, and I'm not really all that great at some of the 'action' games. But I also like non-sim driving games, the kind where you take wide-ass curves and almost flip over and all. I'm going back to TRU anyway to return something else, so any opinions would be nice.

I don't know if this game is included in the BOGO, but it looked like it...I saw WWF Smackdown: Shut Your Mouth in the regular PS2 section at the Canton, OH TRU, but it had a Value Zone Sticker on it and was priced at $19.99. Has anyone seen this game at their TRU Value Zone to confirm?

yeah, I saw WWF Smackdown last night when I picked up Escape From Monkey Island ;)

I saw a few more titles with value zone stickers on them at royal palm beach TRU that I think are misleading, on titles like Shut Your Mouth and Jak and Daxter that were in normal cases and not the cheap looking cases of normal Value Zone games. I tried to buy Jak and Daxter with my other BOGO games, but it wasn't in the system and I didn't push the clerk. He proceeded to grab all the Jak games and started removing the value zone stickers from them. I don't think they're supposed to let you BOGO on anything other than the value zone games that come in those translucent white outer casings, and people who are buying other games with BOGO are just finding friendly customer service representatives.

I have a question for the people who have been recently. Is the supply of games diminishing at all, or is it just as stocked as ever. Also, are the variety of games changing at all?

Well, I just went for the second time 24 hours after going the first time--didn't see anything new, supply hasn't decreased a whole lot.
I didn't see FFX either.
I ended up getting
PacMan World 2
Devil May Cry
harvest moon
Spy Hunter
Ratchet and Clank [yes that's five, they messed up when I went to exchange Smuggler's Run]

On Monday they seemed to have nothing good. I went back Wed and they were stocked up. Today I went back to exchange something and they still had pretty much everything. I know, one day is nothing, but I think not many people know about the deal or perhaps are not just intersted with the selection. Out of 3 TRU I've been to there was one sign and that was facing the wall.

No FFX in sight... if you are looking for a $10 game you can try to find Stretch Panic. I saw two copies, one had a sticker that said $15 and the other didn't. I just picked the one without, but it rang up $10, so YMMV. Otherwise I did get a $10 PS game, Eternal Eyes. I saw a couple of copies at one store and a few more at another. It looks like an anime style RPG that looks interesting.

Another odd thing that I noticed was that some games had a orange TRU sticker that said $10.95 or $21.95(something like that). I don't know how those games would ring up, but I thought that was strange.

Just to clarify about the gift receipts. I bought Monkey Island and Havest Moon with this deal. Havest Moon was the free game which is the game I wanted. Monkey Island was the $19.99 game and I got a seperate gift receipt for both. Tonight I traded Monkey Island (with gift receipt) for store credit which I then bought Beyond Good or Evil. I still have a gift receipt on Havest Moon but I don't think I can use it to get store credit since it will ring up 0. I was wondering if I can do a straight trade in for another game if I wanted.

i saw lots of harvest moon at my TRU in Brooklyn, NY on Bay Parkway. they have only 1 copy of monkey island left and i didnt pick that up. Cause i dont know if its good or not. i see some Bloody roar 3 left. rachet and clank is not part of the deal. i picked up hitman2, baldurs gate, harvest moon and headhunter. i wonder is bloody roar3 good?

for those curious about game reviews/quality, check out:

this site compiles videogame rankings from many different sources, it's useful for seeing multiple reviews on a single game in a short time.

from the reviews I read, I'm taking Bloody Roar 3 back.

i went last night, even though i thought it was pretty late in the game to really get any good games. however, i was able to get Ratchet & Clank, Jak & Daxter, Sly Cooper, and Hot Shots Golf 3. they also had a ton of Harvest Moon, Parappa the Rapper 2, Pac Man World 2, Mojo, Mad Maestro, and other games that didn't really interest me very much. they gave me a hard time about Jak & Daxter, since it wasn't in the computer as part of the deal, even though it had a sticker on it stating otherwise.

this was at the Toys R Us at Gratiot and Masonic in Roseville, MI.

i have a question, by the way. after picking up hot shots golf, i checked it out a little more and am starting to question the purchase. basically, i'm wondering if anyone knows if Toys R Us will give me a hard time if i want to exchange it. if that's the case i'll just keep it, but if they will exchange without a hassle, i'd be into that.

I wasn't going to spend any more $ today because I already bought Hit & Run, GC, I-Ninja, and Whiplash all for $60 and some change. But the cheapass in me gave in and I went to TRU and picked up GT3 a-spec and Silpheed for $20.

I also saw tons of Dave Mirra 2, Seek & Destroy, SSX, Burnout, Blood Omen 2, Silpheed, Gungriffon Blaze, Shadowman, Warriors: Magic the Gathering, Test Drive 3, Mojo, and some others, but they were pretty lame.
How long is this deal going to last? Will it end Saturday?

I know of 1, maybe 2 other TRU's that I can't get to this week.
I think it was mentioned earlier. It will supposedly last til March 27th. :)

I got Harvest Moon and GT3. Not too shabby :)

There was a ton of Mad Maestro and Stretch Panic., and a few GT3s, Harvest Moons, and Sly Coopers. I didn't see any Devil May Cry or Ratchet and Clanks :(

They should let you exchange any of the value games for any other value games, at least as long as you have your reciept. The clerk made a point of telling me she wouldn't unless I had a reciept. It's pretty obvious the value games come from TRU with the stickers, and the plastic case, so I'm not sure why they NEED the reciept, but that's what I was told. I've made exchanges twice already, once in Novi, and once in Ann Arbor.

BTW, there are plenty of Harvest moons at TRU in Novi, MI in the West Oaks mall.

I thought I'd bump this thread back to the first page, because this deal is good through March 27th.

I finally made it up to Clackamas, OR TRU. And was *very* happy with what I found:

-Harvest Moon PS2 (yay!!) ~7 left
-Soul Reaver 2 (only one I saw)
-Blood Omen 2 (only one I saw)
-Jak and Daxter (I was lucky to get this) It was on the display table, but it had a yellow value sticker on it so I gave it a shot. The cashier had some trouble ringing it up, but gave me the deal anyway.

I love how the receit says "You saved $39.98"

I hope it lasts until the 27th, maybe even through April hopefully. I need to get Legaia 2, and maybe Harvest Moon as well.

The sign at the store "Buy one get one FREE on value titles" says it does expire March 27th.

Couldn't find another decent $9.99 PS2 game, so I bought 2 copies of Seek an Destroy for $10.

I'll figure out what to do with the extra copy later...gift mebbe.

had to drive about 30 miles away to another tru, finally found Harvest Moon+SF ex, they had dragon warrior in the bin too, but it didnt have a value sticker and the lady wouldnt let me try it :(
