I walked into Toys R us at 10 30 am ( I thought they opened at 1030am) on 11/12. They opened at 9am I was very upset. I went to R ZOne and asked if they had any Wii preorders and the man said go on line and they will give you one. There was 2 people on line buying stuff. My turn came and I got my preorder, I was very happy. It looked like they had more tickets nobody else seemed to care or want one while I was there eventhough they heard me talking about it. Mickey
 
It sucks living in such a densely populated state like NJ, I tried to preorder at various North NJ toysrus stores and they are all done taking preorders. I even called the one in Paramus this morning, they are closed on Sunday. Apparently they had a line of people this morning. Don't these people have jobs???? I was hoping to get my preorder in at lunch time. Basically I tried every store I could (without taking a day off from work) and no one will take my preorder. Not gamestop, gamecrazy or Toysrus. It's going to be like the 360 again for me. I wanted it from XMAS last year. I had the money and it wasn't until Mid Feb that i finally found one at a target store. There is just too many people in this area.

The only thing I am thinking of doing is trying COSTCO/SAMS Price club on launch day. I have a subscription to shop there and I am thinking it may be a good place to find a Wii on launch because you need the card to get in to shop.

Out of curiosity which Houston TRU did you get yours at? I wasn't around yesterday and I'm probably insane for hoping any more pre-orders might be out there today. Calls to all the TRU in Houston that are open thus far have been met with dissapointing news.
 
Don't bother with the one on Old Spanish Trail (near the dome). I was there, and they sold out the minute the doors opened.

I called my Toys R Us in Birmingham, AL and she just laughed at me when I asked about pre-orders. I wonder how many Wii's gamestop will get on launch? I know of one that is pretty isolated and apparently someone's husband that I work with, was able to just walk in a get a PS3 pre-order with no lines, no waiting. Any news on how Gamestop is handling this?

Or I just may have to wait in line in freezing weather for 12 hours+. Ugh.

The Wii has a 1 year warranty through Nintendo (along with the DS).
 
It seems most TRUs will be getting 96 Wii's...about 30 or so are pre-ordered. How early should I even arrive to pick it up? Seems like it may be an endless line...ugh.

If I get lucky at Wal-Mart I will pick up my TRU pre-order later that day,
 
I was told to not come at opening unless I wanted to wait in line for 4 hours. I pre-ordered, so I'm not sure why it will take TRU so long to complete checkout.

Unless you pre-ordered and paid in full it will take just as long. The R-Zone at my store has 2 registers...ugh.

The one in/near Bayton is where I got mine.

Yeah, Nintendo is good for the one year warranty, but someone mentioned the plan earlier in the thread and I was curious.

got my preorder sunday around noon. yay!!

question: was i supposed to take the preorder slip, or do they keep it? i have my preorder slips for the games, but they kept the wii slip, so i just have my receipt.

how is that supposed to work? (Never done preorder before).

On the back of the ticket it reads, "Must return validated card with receipt to pick up console."

I would probably call the store and ask them about that.
 
My TRU wrote on name on the preorder slip and put them all in an envelope for safe keeping. Like you, all I have is my reciept. If it's like mine you need a credit card in the name put on the slip, or a photo ID to pick up the wii.

I'm going to let all the campers and crazy people cram the place at opening (11am) and stand around for hours as they ring people up two at a time.

Church gets out, I'm going to pick up my bro, get at TRU around 1:45 -2:00 as we're leaving, gonna call Zaxby's and place our lunch order, pick up our lunch order on the way home, go home and go Wii.

Ditto that. Got places to be until 1:00, when I'll go pick up my Wii. Unfortunately, we then have to drive to my inlaws in Carollton for my nephew's birthday party and a pre-Thanksgiving with my mother-in-law, who will be gone over the holiday.

That is going to be a hard few hours with that thing burning a hole in my trunk.
