Turok - Gen. Discussion & Info
you must be on the West Coast then? Here on the East Coast it doesn't seem like it is arriving until tomorrow.
East coast actually, Ohio.

I wouldn't say it sucks, but considering the absolute glut of good FPS released in the last 6 months (Halo 3, COD4, Orange Box, etc) its definitely sub-par in comparison. It's definitely better in full form than the crappy demo.

It's a good re-imagining of the Turok franchise and has some really good moments, but all in all it's a definite renter. Unless you're a Turok fanboy, don't waste the money.

I tried the demo and couldn't see shit. I proptly deleted it and decided I might GameFly it if I ever wanted to run around in the dark again and not stub my toe.

I really didn't like it. I'll sell it for $45 shipped right now. The single player is alright, but the MP was a freaking dissappointment.

I tried the demo out last night and I cannot see what's the cause for all the hate.

1) For me the cave wasn't that dark at all. I guess you guys must have low contrast, or something, but I navigated it just fine.

2) While the knife is overpowered, you definitely cannot easily go through the game with only the knife. I really enjoyed the knife animations.

The demo disappointed me, except for the knife. I just ran around knifing *everyone*. This game seems like a definite rental rather than purchase for me, especially with DMC4 coming out soon and since I just bought Burnout Paradise.

Change of mind.....

It sucks.

Felt it was a good FPS, since it was using the Unreal Engine, the story line was pretty good as well with a decent amount of cutscenes, some weapons were disappointing but having the knife and the bow made it interesting especially when you put arrows in dinosaurs and they stayed in them. Took forever to beat the end to. Just trying out the multiplayer, not as good as halo but better than Timeshift.

Just finished the campaign, I'm glad to say that this game was surprisingly fun and good. The multiplayer isn't bad either although it doesn't really hold up compared to other games. Still worth trying though. This game is worth playing to anyone who likes FPSes.

I tried to like this game, despite the horribly dated FPS shooting mechanics and the even worse controls.

RIP TUROK.

May your soul find rest in heaven.

Kinda late but I just got it via Gamefly. I haven't finished the story yet but I am enjoying it for the most part. The weapons sound and feel nice as do the knife animations. I am a bit surprised by the difficulty of the 'normal' campaign though, it seems a lot harder than usual.

However the multi-player...wow...so much potential but so little success. It fell under the TF2 lag curse. Plus practically no one plays. Maybe I was at a bad time but I played with the same 10-20 people the whole night.

Unless a major update is released decimating the lag issues and bringing back the community, it's a rental at best (unless your a die hard FPS fan like me).
I just rented this myself. Anyone out there that can say how long this should take to beat?
Anyone?
Jeez... am I the only person that thought it was awesome? But then I liked Jericho too...
You're not alone on both of those, Kayden. Jericho was awesome, people just listen to the review circuit to form their opinions too much.
Anyone?
I thought I heard 10-12 hours in a podcast discussing the game. Not sure on what difficulty level it was, though, but they said it was very linear.

I hated Jericho. Decent as a rental, but nothing more. Boring, repetitive, linear, tedious, pointlessly long...I mostly continued for the achievements and to see if the game would pick up. It sadly never did. The game's story copies so much from other horror works like BPRD, etc. I couldn't stand the characters either. Also, the controllers were just abysmal. I would die for no reason other than that. Otherwise, I mostly sailed right through the portions of the game I played (got to the Roman medieval period.).
