TV Water Cooler #2

they did promote it a lot at the begining, but if they really wanted it to be a success, they didn't need it airing at the 10 pm est hour. It is the middle of summer, a lot of repeats are airing, you could easily have had this play at either 8 or 9pm est and it would have drawn more of an audience.

Wow - I used to watch a lot of Fox... now it looks like Bones is the only show I'll be watching regularly - I'll probably also watch The Simpsons, King of the Hill (back in the timeslot it should always have) and Family Guy (the completely stupid and unfunny American Dad can rot in hell) but just not religiously.

I'm good for Prison Break and Kitchen Nightmares (BBC version airs on BBC America [both are Gordon Ramsey shows] and is pretty good.)

A couple nuggets: from jsonline.com

-The success of Fox's "Don't Forget the Lyrics" means it will survive into the fall. It'll air at 8 p.m. Thursdays, after "Are You Smarter Than a Fifth Grader?" You can find the Fox schedule at blogs.jsonline.com/cuprisin. The shuffle moves "Bones" to 8 p.m. Tuesdays this fall.

-"Boston Legal" fans who were worried when the show wasn't listed on ABC's fall schedule can relax. The 90-minute season premiere airs at 8:30 p.m. Sept. 25 and moves into its regular 9 p.m. Tuesday spot the following week.
house, prison break, and kitchen nightmares are on my list to watch...kville is a maybe
Oh yeah I caught an ad for Kville and it's one I might check out. If it doesn't work out to record on my DVR I'll probably not bother to even give it a try though.

did anyone catch tnt's miniseries "the company". The first 2 hours aired last sunday (i am sure they are repeating the hell out of it) and it is similiar premise to the horrible matt damon movie, the good shepherd. This series stars chris o'donnell, michael keaton, alfred molina, rory cochrane (i knew him from dazed and confused) was an excellent show. Very well done, and paced if anyone like spy movies/games then try to catch this mini series.

Never seen Dexter, but the guy who wrote the book it's based on lives in my city. His daughter (with Hemingway's niece, interestingly enough) went to my school last year.

Damages keeps on going strong...the show is doing 2 storylines...one (that is the minor part of the series) that is set in the current, and one that is 6 months earlier. Each week they seem to give you a bit of info info from the present that hasn't occured in the past. They are doing a great job of Holy shit, when the fuck did that happen each and every week.

Patinkin Films Final 'Minds' Scene Solo
10s.jpg
Mandy Patinkin, who famously quit CBS's Criminal Minds without notice last month, will return to the show for a single episode on October 3, published reports said Tuesday. TV Guide reported on its website that the episode will provide "some closure" for Patinkin's character, Jason Gideon. However, it noted, Patinkin filmed his single scene without other actors -- he will reportedly be seen getting into a car and driving away -- because "no one in the cast wanted to work opposite him again after he brought production to a standstill by pulling a no-show." Moreover, the magazine reported, "Minds' producers were forced to use a special crew to shoot the pariah's scene because the show's regular staff refused to be on set with him."
from what I read about Patinkin, he was horrible to work with. Very miserable, and would bring the set down.
That's a shame cuz he's a fine actor. CM can get by without him or a replacement him, IMO. The rest of the cast is strong enough to keep moving forward.

supposedly he pulled the same shit when he left/quit chicago hope or some show name like that.

as far as the show, I don't think they need a replacement as it was an ensable cast that made the show. I do think if they miscast the mandy's replacement, it could ruin the show.

QFT and on that note this site is reporting a replacement. How accurate that is, who knows, cuz I don't see it anywhere else and last time I checked CM was on CBS.

Edit: Now its popping up other places too. If true, I don't have a problem with it so long as they don't give him the same basic role as Gideon.

he could be hit or miss...

allegedly geena davis had issues with the subject matter (similiar to mandy) and how dark it was, micheal keaton didn't want a full time tv gig, and they weren't able to come to a financial agreement with harvey kietel.
allegedly geena davis had issues with the subject matter
Thank god for that, she sucks. Keitel or Keaton would've been cool.

In lost news, kristen bell was the front runner to take one of the new roles for the other others (people in the boat offshore). Allegedly the casting call for it, pretty much exactly described what bell did in veronica mars...Allegedly she was close to signing a deal, but in the end backed out..No reason was given, some claim it is due to a broadway part that has opened up for her, some said it was due to movie offers coming in, and she dind't want to get tied up in a show

Well it is official...Kristen bell is joining hereos....She has a 9 episode arc, with an open ending, meaning she can come back in the 2nd half if she so choses.

Her power must render her to have her gams showing at all times

Thats some pretty awesome news. Hopefully she stays on, assuming she does any awesome job with the character she has.

she allegedly is very interested in doing work on broadway on the show legally blonde.

As far as her spot on hereo's...she allegedly was taking a train ride back from comic con...said she lived 3 hours away via car ride and traffic. She is friends with masi oki, and either the guy that plays peter or sylar and they were all sitting together going home. One of the management people was with them, and said that if she can have a gig whenever she wants on the show. She claims to have said she would love to, but thought he took it as a joke (espically with all the lost rumors going around)...she told either masi or the other guy after the trip that she was serious and would love to work on the show and it took off from there.

prison break casting news don't read if you don't want to know a spoiler about a cast memeber

micheals girlfriend, the prison doctor, is not returning. For weeks her manager was saying she was coming back, but due to a recent pregnancy, she would be back later on...well now it is official she is out

per http://community.tvguide.com/blog-entry/TVGuide-Editors-Blog/Ausiello-Report/Truth-Prison-Break/800021797

OK, now you worrywarts have something to wring your hands about: The Ausiello Report has just learned that after giving birth, Sarah Wayne Callies is not returning to Prison Break after all.

Shocking, right? Especially given the way the actress' manager has been insisting for weeks that her client would be back. (The words "pants on fire" come to mind.)

We already knew that Callies was MIA from the opening credits in the first two episodes and that, for the one scene in which Dr. Sara appeared, a body double was used. But nonetheless, trusting souls that we are, we believed the mom-to-be still had a job. Well, no more. There's a story here, and you're gonna get it.

Anything else start this week? I don't watch those shows but I know I've got to set the DVR soon for all the new crap that looks interesting...
Check out the link in the post above, it has all the premiere dates.
Wow I'm lazy. I didn't click the link. Thanks!

Whoever had the bright idea to replace The Unit's awesome opening music with this new dreck needs to be slapped...hard.

Scary Scoop: Writers Strike Could Come ASAP
Surprised? Hollywood will be, too, and, according to my source, the Writers Guild of America is counting on it.

Here's the deal: TV and movie scribes are already up in arms over issues such as compensation for new media (translation: Internet downloads) and they're primed to strike. But the suits have been content to reassure themselves that it won't happen any sooner than spring, when the Screen Actors Guild contract is up as well and both groups can walk picket lines together.

Instead of waiting, however, WGA members received an e-mail just moments ago announcing a strike authorization vote — the results of which could be revealed in the next 10 days. If they vote to strike, the group could pack up their laptops when its contract expires on Nov. 1.

This would majorly tighten the noose around the necks of the guys holding the purse strings, because movie studios won't have had time to fast-track blockbusters to see them through a strike, and most fall TV shows will only have 10 or 11 episodes in the can at that point.

So what do you think? Will it happen? Should the networks and studios just pony up already? Or will this finally be what brings to the googleplex "Paradise Hotel: The Movie?" — Additional reporting by Ben Katner

^^ Hmm that might give them maximum leverage, especially with lulling the execs into thinking they had more time. I'd be bummed.
Whoever had the bright idea to replace The Unit's awesome opening music with this new dreck needs to be slapped...hard.
Haven't heard the new opening music since I'm usually skipping forward on the DVR. So they're not using that cadence chant any longer? That was pretty good.

I wish they'd just nix most of the homefront crap and stick to the interaction within the actual unit. But I've felt that way since the beginning. Most any storyline involving any of the wives has been horrible.
