Two Worlds - Free to play MMORPG

I'm very interested in learning about this game... but I'm growing increasingly worried about the lack of media coverage, especially with it's release date rapidly approaching.

Hopefully, it won't suck. I'm pretty excited for it, but since it only comes out two weeks before Blue Dragon and Gen Con (its a gaming convention) is squeezed in there, I don't expect that I'll get much time before it goes to collect dust on the shelf.

TBW

I'm looking forward to this game, hopefully it will be good, and the extra time in development that the US version is getting will make it better then the European version.

By the way nice avatar Noodle Pirate. I'm looking forward to seeing Captain Jack in Doctor Who again.

I'm pumped about the online co-op. Its one of the biggest draws to me when it comes to gaming. Hopefully its decent enough to make it worth while. If Oblivion (which I understand this game is a lot like) had co-op it would've been the best game ever. And I agree with Poet_JD ... this game is getting disturbingly little coverage by any of the game blogs and its making me nervous that there's something wrong with it.

The on-line co-op is the reason why I pre-ordered. I'm *really* hoping it's not a dud. IGN's previews sounded pretty positive, though they did not some rough-around-the-edges stuff with the melee combat system.

If you're up for it, Mak, I'd be honored to be in your party.

Sweetness. As long as the reviews arent like 5/10 I'll definitely be getting it.

I can't imagine it's going to be broken. We would've gotten wind of that by now if it was absolute garbage. Still, can't understand the lack of hype...

Anyway, we need to get a couple other reliable CAGs on board for some questing.

Anyone remember the Simpsons episode where Bart and Lisa are swinging their arms/legs around then start walking towards each other? The combat video for Two Worlds looks like that. That killed my interest.

From what i've heard the game is buggy and incomplete. Stuff like there being a spell called De-Horse which knocks enemies off horses. Yet no enemies in the game ride horses....

It did come out buggy in Europe, that's for sure. But they've been working on it and released versions up to 1.5 by now. The goal is for them to get it not to be buggy by the time it comes out in the USA.

That said, I don't have much confidence in a developer who will release shit in Europe to not release shit in the USA.

It has potential, but this is a definate wait and see. It might be a good candidate to pick up in the bargain bin after all of these bugs have been worked out. Besides, I'm going to be too busy playing Bioshock! :)

Well, Oblivion was a great game (my favorite game ever). To make a game simply as good as Oblivion would be a feat.

This is reminding me a bit of the Fable charade from a few years ago. We heard how great this game would be, it would blow everything out of the water, and then it hit, and it was nothing special.

This game, if it worked out, would be perfect. Oblivion with multiplayer? Free online play (no monthly fee)? Something is not adding up.

Right now, I'm holding off on it, but awaiting the release anxiously. I'm hoping I'm wrong, and this is something special. If it is, it might be tempting to jump nad buy this instantly (though, I rarely buy full price games, and GTA4 and Halo 3 are screaming to be bought this year).

So, I'm waiting with my fingers crossed here.

like i said from the European launch its a lackluster game. They are making improvements and fixes but with how they are handling it I see 0 reasons to get it at launch while they are still balancing it, especially with MANY better games coming out the same time.

This is a game i can see potentially getting after holidays.

The reviews are trickling in... http://www.actiontrip.com/reviews/twoworlds.phtml

They gave it a 62% with the following cons: "Feeble story, repetitive, technical errors, there's nothing to entangle players beyond the standard hack'n'slash routine and free-roam gameplay." On the plus side, they credited the amount of content and actually said the combat system works well.

Then there's this one from Australia: http://palgn.com.au/article.php?title=Two+Worlds+Review&id=8133&sid=abd973bade2ae49863252468d59ba7be

They gave it a cumulative 6.5, which is something of a tilt-down, since they gave graphics 7.5, sound 7.0, gameplay 6.5 (ouch), and lifespan 8.5.

My enthusiasm is certainly cooling off now. I hope to see some U.S.-based reviews this week so I have time to flip the pre-order if need be.

I pray that you all PLEASE cancel your pre-orders. This is NOT a game you should be getting at launch with the number of bug's they are fixing and trying to balance.

If not i'll go on record and say told you so
Two Worlds isn't really a MMO, it has 8 player co-op. From what I heard it will have MMO style cities where you can meet up with a party, but when you go on a mission your party is in a seperate zone that no one else can access.

I'm really looking forward to Two Worlds. I hope it's as good or nearly as good as Oblivion, and I'm looking forward to the online multiplayer.
Sounds... like Home...

Welp, Fragland.net just posted an 87% review... but it was the guy's first RPG. I think I might just take back that pre-order this weekend...

Looks like it's getting pushed back AGAIN a week according to EBstop. I bet it slips into September now. If it does get shipped on 8/21 it's going to tank even harder due to Bioshock.

It's too bad because I'd love a multi-player coop RPG to get into with other CAG's. I kind of miss out on the CAG multiplayer action (besides XBLA and Chromehounds) because I'm not into the FPSs that everyone plays. An RPG (even an actiony one) I could hold my own in. Hopefully something will come along to fill that void, or maybe we can all get into this when it goes on clearance at CC for $16 ;).

Well Prototype looks to be an incredible action not FPS w/ online coop, but its Q4 2008 :whistle2:(

It's getting my vote for GOTY so far though
i think that the game looks cool and i think that it is a buy
I feel sorry for you then :whistle2:(

Any game that releases im the state it was in won't get my support until its a bargain game. I can ignore the bugs in games like Earth Defense Force because its a budget title and the game is incredibly fun. However when they are just too lazy to FINISH the damn game and ship it out so they can start collecting money enough is enough. We are not beta testers, we should not have to pay to help them finish the damn games!

Well, it keeps getting delayed. Who's to say the game won't turn out half bad? It's a for sure rental for me, if it's good I'll buy it.

Welcome to the world of computer software! But seriously.. We've been fighting this forever and a day on the computer, and now that consoles have become sufficiently powerful and complex, we're going to have to deal with this on the 360/Ps3. Games as superbly complex as an RPG will have tweaks throughout their lifespan (Oblivion was no exception... Shivering Isles had a game-killing, and as I recall save-game killing bug in it..)

If they are committed to fixing the bugs, adding content, and expanding the game, I am willing to give them a little slack... if the game is fundamentally craptacular (as in the concept and controls are atrocious), then that is the time to boycott a developer... because they didn't have it right from the start. :)

We've graduated to being beta-testers... thanks to the spectacular power of the current generation of consoles... We just need to be judicious about which companies we allow this to happen with... and punish those who are simply throwing stuff over the fence to get cash...*cough* EA *cough*

I was a diehard PC gamer until last gen. Then I started seeing my computer couldn't hold up to some of the XBox games. This gen, I've flipped to 360 and Wii almost for everything. So now I play mainly RTS and mainly older games like Starcraft and Diablo on the computer, and buy everything else for 360 generally.

aaah Diablo... a game I still play from time to time (mostly Diablo 2), and Total Annihilation... robot RTS's never get old.... :)

Everything else is now console-based for me as well. My PC is 8 years old and now runs Slackware full time.... :)

There are definitely classics on the PC that are still great on it, like Blizzards games from the past 15 years and such, anything that still runs well and plays well is good for me.

But enough of me dragging this way OT.

Sign me up for this game. I have been waiting for this game for along time. I even tried to sign up for the beta. I told them I was from Hungry lol. They didn't buy that. Only a couple more weeks wooot

i'm going to rent this one and is how good it is. If its good, maybe i will pick it up for 30 or something next year.

I'm very interested in this one (free MMORPG!), but at the same time I am EXTREMELY wary...no news/hype from ANY of the game sites I visit. I'll probably see what the interest is on my FL before I pick this one up (although $49 sale at Fry's makes it very tempting).

It's not an MMORPG..it just has 8 player coops.

This game is NOT getting released tomorrow. It's very screwy. I've heard the 23, but if I'm a betting man (and I am), the game will be out the 28th (ship the 27th).

EBstop has it at the 23rd now. Rarely do games arrive on a friday.

The guides came in today. Expect the game on shelves Friday.

The guides look like a big ball of suck. And by that, I mean the content within, the actual game.. not the cover of the guides or anything.

At Gamestop we got the guides over a week ago... So I don't think that really matters.

I'll probably just sign the game out.

I was goin to say this also. My Gamestop has had the guide in for at least 2 weeks.
I hope the game will be fun. It looks really good on paper at least! =)
