Uncharted 2: Among Thieves - (use spoiler tags please)
Uncharted 2 just had a 360% increase in pre-sales. This article talks about it. I'd wager it has a lot to do with some more people buying PS3s due to the price drop.
Uncharted 2 will do very well this holiday season, as I'm sure Sony will expend a great deal of resources advertising the title.

A special version of the game with art book, replica dagger, and autographed case that they will be giving away in a few contests before the launch.
All I have to say is this: fuck Naughty Dog.

I would gladly pay for a nice LE version of Uncharted 2, so what do they do? Offer one I can't buy. Seriously, just drop the dagger and autograph, give us a nice art book and maybe a steelbook case, and sell it! I'd happily buy it.

relax Yoda lol. I'm sure the quality of the extras will be crap anyway

To be honest. People complain about crappy overpriced cheaply mass produced collector's editions, then complain when a real collector's edition is truly limited?

I don't care about collector's editions,, I want the game on my shelf and that's my collection right there.

Honestly, all they are doing is creating these super editions for eBay. I'm sure they will go for top dollar. Heck, if I won one I don't know if I could pass up the profit and I'm a pretty big fan of ND, Sony, PS3, etc...

I'm not a big fan of LE(s), I just like it when they give you extras for preordering, or extras for buying the game early.

agreed that i dont mind as much but le/ce never ( imo) have anything of any real value in them unless youre one of those uber dorks who geek out on that stuff. this game is gonna sell like steroids in pro sports they dont need to do the le/ce thing. that said im buying the regular edition for full price when it comes out so i can stomp some asses in mp. although if they added to the ce/le al the extra content at each diff store is putting in with their U2 preorders then id say that may be worth more but not to me.

Sony US doesn't really do LEs/CEs. IIRC, Resistance 2 was the only PS3 game Sony released so far to have a special edition?

Here's another picture of the Fortune Hunter Edition; taken from Naughty Dog's twitter at PAX 09'.

that looks like the knife from the Golden Child.

They have started giving out the codes for pre-orders, however the demo isn't going to begin for another week. I'm still sitting on my code waiting for the start.
I've officially stopped watching the videos and reading the articles.

There is such a thing a too much foreplay!
Same here. I'm going to have to do what I did when MGS 4 was coming out and I had to cut myself off of any articles and discussions.

Finally reserved the game at BB. It'll be nice to rock those golden weapons online, but I'm hoping TRU or Target steps up and offers a bad ass deal like for Batman.

They're releasing a lot of stuff, and I like it. The good thing is, they haven't really spoiled anything. The focus of the game is the single player and the story, and they've been good at keeping all the twists and turns under wraps.

The gameplay looks absolutely sick, too.

2009 holiday season is going to be the most expensive holiday season T.T. Uncharted 2, MW2, etc... T.T all the good games coming out at that time.

I think it's actually going to the 1st quarter of 2010! ;)

Is there a plastic preorder case with a code in it? Or do you get the code w/ the game somehow?

Sorry for the double post since there's no editing on the iPhone version. But sorry for posting that old info that frisky alreadyb posted. I keep up with the posts in this thread, but some how I missed that one.

I'd absolutely buy that fortune hunter edition if it was for sale, but now I'll just have to do whatever it takes to win it. Hopefully the US gets a special edition for sale, though.

You bring up a shrinkwrapped preorder box that contains the code inside. Best Buy is doing the same thing with Ratchet and Clank.
Damn... I hope we get that. This game deserves a special edition of some kind... but I'm guessing we won't.
I'm going to pray for it (though I already have the regular ordered off Amazon via Quick Picks + ECA) but this year does not fall favorably for my line of thinking - just glance at KillZone 2 even if it wasn't much more than a steel case. I think Sony has a bigger foothold in Europe or something. I know that the European area in general is huge on Gran Turismo.

I'm still waiting to hear how I can enter to win that freakin' awesome Fortune Hunter edition (whatever it was that was limited to 200 units) that has the awesome replica dagger.

Edit: And oh man, the thought of a dynamic Uncharted 2 theme sounds pretty damn cool.

So these codes, can anyone with a copy of the game get the gold guns and stuff once the word's out? Or are they special copies of the game that make it impossible? I'm ordering this off Amazon b/c it's already a few bucks off (if I'm not mistaken) and no sales tax. The gold guns aren't worth the extra $4-$6 in sales tax to me.

Also, are the gold guns only for multiplayer, or is it used in single player too?

I'm assuming the gold guns will be exclusive to the people that preordered from BB at least for a while. However, ND can sell it as DLC later on. (Like what MM did with the Kratos / Nariko costumes for LBP)

What I'm planning to do is to cancel the reservation at BB if TRU or Target has an awesome deal on the game. The good thing about BB reservations is that you don't need to return the preorder bonuses. So basically you can pretty much keep all kinds of BB exclusive preorder bonuses for free if you want to go through the hassle of reserving and cancelling. (Which I don't really advocate doing often)

And yes, the gold guns are for multiplayer only.

Why not just price match at BB? Cuz you kow you can... right?

I normally would for the Reward Zone points but it's been increasingly difficult to PM at BB with those dimwitted CS reps. It's like pulling teeth for them. Douche bag managers don't help either.

They're exclusive pre-order content. If you pre-ordered from BB, you'd get the golden guns, if you pre-ordered from Amazon, like me, you'd get a digital treasure map and if you pre-order from GameSpot you get access to the new beta on the 15th of september, 2 weeks before everyone else.

So no, you won't be able to get these exclusives once the game hits, it's just incentive for pre-ordering.

Well, I guess I pre-ordered at the right place then; I think the treasure map has more value to me since I care about the single player more. I hope all of these exclusives can just be unlocked in the game by earning money (I read somewhere that you can unlock things in multi-player thru single-player and vice-versa).

OK now THIS is awesome.

Sony is going to be having a special sneak preview of Uncharted 2 in CINEMAS. Just imagine the cutscenes on the big screen projected in HD

Here's the full article.

I live in LA so hopefully I can go to the local event. That'd be sweet.

Here are the details on the multiplayer demo that's coming soon:

There's so much going on in this demo that's it's really hard to pick where to begin describing it. I talked to the developers the other day, and they said the purpose of this freebie is to give you as much of the multiplayer game as they can in a reasonably sized file. So, you give Naughty Dog 1.5 GB, and they're giving you four maps, four competitive modes, two co-op modes, the much-hyped cinema mode, the ability to create custom games, access to new skins, about 80 percent of the boosters you'll find in the final game, and so much more.

Sadly, none of the stuff you unlock and none of the cinemas you create will carry over to the retail release of Uncharted 2. Similarly, your multiplayer rank will be wiped when the final game hits stores. However, Uncharted 2 packs a built in Twitter link and it's going to be active in this demo. If you enter in your Twitter username and password, the game will automatically Tweet your special accomplishments.
