I figured we should have a thread for this as there seems to be some prices scattered around this site.

Here's what I got for some Xbox games on 6/20:

Mechassualt - $8
Blood Wake - $7
Time Splitters - $8
GTA 3/4 - $25
Indiana Jones- $3
Freedom Fighters- $8
Armed and Dang - $12
Riddick- $35

i don't think anyone has a problem with people doing this generally

people who abuse it and, even worse, publicly announce their abuse of it are going to cause a policy change at a store that has been good to gamers (like i said my game rush guy is expecting a change but he is not, as far as i know, actively trying to institute one)

The good thing is that there will always be games that will "fall through the cracks" like Drake. If a game blows hard and nobody touches it, Gamestop or EB will sell it for cheap while Gamerush will give you top dollar while it is still new.

I hope they don't drop the price of DRAKE at GameRush. I just ordered 2 copies at Gamestop. Hopefully I get them soon before the price goes down. My luck, it will drop to $1 and I will get screwed in the deal. Oh well, at least I can use them for trade fodder either way.

My first time at GameRush today, here's my results:

(prices include the $5 per game bonus for trading in more than 3 games at a time)

nba live 2004 ps2 - $21
mvp baseball 2004 ps2 - $30
ncaa football 2005 ps2 - $35
the suffering xbox - $17

plus saved $20 on my starwars battlefront preorder for trading in more than 2 games

GRAND TOTAL: i got $77.39 in store credit and a paid for Star Wars Battlefront for xbox next week.

sometimes they let me, sometimes they don't YMMV, I usually just wait till next time or try another Gamerush, sometimes if your nice it will make a difference or maybe don't talk about the pre-orders till after the trade, I don't think they can easily give you back your trades? Don't know if that will work or not.

i just took a look at the "$20 off pre-order" coupon (which i presume contains the same policy for their non-coupon dealings) and it is pretty clear that the offer may not be combined with any other offer so it sounds like you guys got lucky

i have a pretty good relationship with my game rush guy so i will bring it up but it doesn't look like it is something i can say i was entitled to

anyone else have a different interpretation?
anyone have something smart to say when the guy asks me why im trading in 2 copies of the same game (drake)?
You could say whatever you wanted, you had an extra copy someone got you, a friend gave it to you to trade in...but really, it's none of anyone's business. They may think or know you got them cheaper elsewhere and are getting over on them...but the limit is 2 per title and beyond that it's really none of their business.
anyone have something smart to say when the guy asks me why im trading in 2 copies of the same game (drake)?
...because the game was so awsome, you needed 2 incase on broke.
...ordered it online, and the "2" key is sooo close to the "1."
...your trash was full.
...it was a cruel birthday joke.
...because you system linked it for twice the drake goodness (shh..it's a feature!).
...because you bought it, and then got it as a present later on.
...because your blockbuster offers an insane buy-back credit on it, and you want to increase profits.
...because, stfu and gimmie my credit!....please.

Zip it, dont say anything dont act nervous cause if you do they will ask you, just make like your trading in 4 games. When I traded 2 drakes in at the same time the rep commented "wow we been getting alot of these in lately" and 2nd time at another store "wow you got 22$ for this game and you only paid 6.99"(yes I left the tag on some of the games on), of course I was trading in stacks of 10 games each time and the only dupe was drake each time. They never hassled me or anything, if it comes down to it say your friend heard GR was giving good credits for the game and you both wanted to dump it cause you didnt want it anymore.

Some of you make it sound like you're smuggling cocaine through customs. :D

Do you think a Blockbuster clerk really cares about why you've got any combination of titles? As long as the game is in the system (I personally know PSX Command & Conquer is not), and you're following the rules (such as with number of duplicates), everything is fine.

And I can't even imagine not getting the extra $5/$3 per title along with the $20 off, based on how it's done at mine... first, everything gets traded in, and you sign the paperwork to make it a done deal, then we move on to which games will be preordered (my GR still requires just one trade-in to get $20 off a new game), and the clerks scan whatever paperwork's hiding in their drawer to make it happen.

I usually stuff the games I want to trade in a balloon, then eat it. I get to BB just in time to pass it in the bathroom, and trade it in. The whole time I'm in the store I wear dark glasses too. I perfected this renting the softcore movies at BB, cause they got da chicks wit da boobs.

You EAT the balloon, now that's an idea! I usually shove the balloon up my....uh never mind!!

Traded in 3 games today and got the two deals combined. Here are my trades:

Space Channel 5 (PS2)-> $30 ($25+$5) this costs $9.99 preowned at EB.
Culdcept (PS2)-> $26 ($21+$5) this costs $11.99 preowned at EB.
Timesplitters 2 (GCN)-> $13 ($8+$5) had this for a while, got it at EB for $9.99 preownded at EB but just picked up a new copy cheap at the Tower clearance because my old one didn't have instructions.

Preordered Halo 2, they said it wasn't the limited edition, but that I could maybe return it and upgrade when it comes in. Plus I still have $36 credit on my account.
has everyone received the extra $5 credit when combining with the $20 pre-order credit?
from what I saw when I preordered burnout last week, if the clerk doesn't know(or care) that technically he shouldn't combine the deals it should go through fine. first he'll give you credit for your games and have you sign that you accept their offer(this is when he would activate the trade 3 games, get $5+ credit deal). after that he would scan in the barcode for the pre-order deal. the pre-order deal isn't actually triggered by the computer, the clerk has to do the deal manually at his discretion(he scans in a barcode into the computer, just like if it was a coupon) AFTER you trade in your games so there shouldn't be problems on the computer side, it should depend on the clerk you get. this is from what I observed, I don't work for gamerush so I could be wrong.

Ok out of 4 times pre ordering and trading in at least 4 games each time, twice I was given both offers on my trade in preorders, twice I only got the preorder credit no extra 5$ for tradeins. I guess it will depend on the clerk. My advice if the clerk looks like a jerk dont try it, if hes a manager dont try it, but if they look cool just kinda ask nonchalant if both deals are combinable, two times I did get the deal I just asked hey I was wondering if those deals are combinable, I didnt demand it or anything. And the posters above are correct, they take your game trade ins and give you credit, at that point they can give you the extra 5$, then they will do the transaction with the preorders, both transactions should be independent of each other so offers CAN stack if the want to do it for you.

Oh and for Halo 2 orders, when I preorderd the guy told me they didnt have the special edition, when I went back later they had it so I asked if I could change it, the chick told me that the first 150 people that preorderd Halo 2 will get the special edition.

even though i still consider them great deals, i am a little bummed that on my last 6 pre-orders i didn't get the extra $5 per trade ($60 worth), the guy i deal with at game rush is very cool so maybe i will see if he will right this egregious wrong when i pick up Fable wednesday :)

here's some trade-in values from my run tonight:

drake(xbox) - $22
top spin(xbox) - $13
sphinx(xbox) - ~$1(or $1.50)
futurama(ps2) - $8
max payne(gba) - $13
karnaaj rally(gba) - $13
jet grind radio(gba) - $5
ballistic:ecks vs sever - $1.50

kinda meh on most unless you combine the $5+ and the $20 off pre-order deal.
so far I've traded 15 Drakes at various stores and got about $330 in credit. I spent about $110 at Gamestop.com for the Drakes. You guys do the math. And the best part is, this is totally legal. Last night a Gamerush employee told me "You can bring in as many Drakes as you want. We sell them for $34.99. If that's what the company wants to pay, then who am I to say anything"
Which los angeles GR said this? btw, nice score on the trade ins. Maybe you can get steel battalion with that

Actually, I traded them in a various local Gamerushes (check the site), and I will be getting a Nintendo DS and some games with that credit. If I can still get this credit for a few more week, then I will have enough for a Sony PSP also.

Here are the values of my trades from yesterday and the week before:
All games are pS2 format unless noted.

Corvette- $2.00
Madden 2002- $2.00
NFL 2k3- $2.00
Haunted Mansion- $7.00
Devil May Cry 2- $8.00
Final Fantasy X2- $13.00
Summoner 2- $8.00
Blowout- $2.00
Rallisport Challenge 2 Xbox- $13.00
NHL Hitz 2002 Xbox- $2.00
Dynasty Tactics 2- $25.00
Wheel of Fortune- $18.00

Trade ins from Highland,CA

Xbox

Prince of Persia-$7
Drake-$22
Rayman 3 -$18
Tiger Woods 2004-$8

GC

F-Zero GX-$7

Not too bad since I got the extra $5 per game. I did have 2 Drakes to trade in. I ended up with $114!

anyone know what games are on GR's preorder list?

There's a few more that I would like to preorder, but it would be really helpful to know what's on the list.

Has anyone preordered Nocturne for PS2?

Traded in a couple more:

$25 Spiderman 2 (xbox)
$25 Dynasty Tactics 2 (ps2)

I picked up a couple copies of Dynasty Tactics 2 today at my local Toysrus for $15 a piece. I'm not sure if it's chain wide or not but my local store had a few sorry titles for 50% off.

My thanks to the prior posters who mentioned Dynasty Tactics 2. Trading in 2 copies of Dynasty Tactics 2 with the $20 off preorder deal gave me a total trade in value of $35 each. Not as good as some of the past deals but that's $70 total from the original $30 investment.

Anyone know what the trade-in value for Fable is? I got a used copy from Gamerush today with the "trade 3 used in, get PO for $10" coupon. It was priced at $44.99, so I'd imagine it'd be pretty high. Didn't see it listed on the recent flyer either.

^^^

I would assume Fable is either $30 or $35. Most likely $35.

Two others I traded in today are:

PS2 NFL Gameday 2003- $1.50
Xbox Pirates of the Carribiean- $18.00

i traded in ESPN nba 2k4 yesterday for $8.
if you trade it in with a couple more games for the extra $5, thats 13, only $7 more for the 2k5, coming in a couple weeks. not bad.

I just called my Gamerush and they told me the trade in for Drake was $2.

I have 2 of them that I just picked up. I am highly annoyed and since they were new they may be going back to CC if they take them back.

Traded these games in on the 20th.

PS2
Wild Arms 3 - 8

GC
Billy Hatcher - 7
Wario World - 10

XB
Metal Arms - 7
LoK: Defiance - 7
Whiplash - 7
Voodoo Vince - 7
Drake - 22

i saw the pre-order list today and it is definitely not all-inclusive

when i say the pre-order list, i mean the list for which the $20 off deal applies

two games not on the list that i wanted to pre-order: (i) mechassault 2 and (ii) conker

another store's list was even much more limited (just 10 games or so)

Mechassault 2 is at least in the computer system so it is preorder doable... at least that was my case if you get the right employees. Conker and Jade Empire as far as I have seen are not in the system at all which is a shame

ahhh the end of an era 2 dollars for drake :whistle2:(.

Oh well a copy of space channel 5 for ps2 which i obtained for free using a coupon at value city traded in for a cool 25 bucks

used that and some previously cashed credits to pick up the star wars trilogy

Hey, guys. Found out Blockbuster is taking trades. Never had a GameRush nearby, so I'm new to their prices, though I read through this thread. Could someone give me an idea on what the following would be worth? All are PS2 unless noted.

Ghost Recon: Jungle Storm
The Guy Game
Dino Stalker
The Great Escape
All-Star Baseball 2004
Onimusha Tactics GBA
Mat Hoffman's Pro BMX GBA

Thanks for any insight. If it sounds worth my time, I'll head to BB tomorrow and trade away.
how much does Spawn(Xbox) or Silent Scope Complete get in trade???
$12 here for Silent Scope Complete
$7 for Hunter the Reckoning: Redeemer
