Upcoming Pokemon Downloads at Toys R Us -- Shaymin and Regigigas

The only way to get more than one is to have multiple copies of the game. I have two of Pearl and one of Diamond, so the most I can get is three of Shaymin and three of Regi.

You'd just have to keep resetting that extra copy of Pearl.
 
Not only that, but if he means to start over (as in, delete the old file and start a brand new game), you lose all your progress and pokemon including the mystery gift pokemon you just downloaded. If he meant download, save and try to download again, it wont work. You are limited to one download per file.

That's why I was hoping he'd clarify what he was trying to say.
 
Yes, it means to erase and start a new file.

Me and a friend loaded up on Deoxys one afternoon at a Gamestop. Each one of us got 11 of them in 2 hours. At the very least we reset 2 or 3 times to try and give them a good nature as well.

And I swear to you we were so...exasperated after that we never went back for another round.

It takes 20 minutes per trade and erase. Probably less if you can get a third person in there to just handle receiving the Pokemon.

Of course, if you value your save that much, then just go buy a used copy and return it later.

(We also gleaned on how Game Freak is obnoxiously stupid in not allowing multiple-Pokemon trades.)

Man, I really need to play my Diamond version. I started it so I could go to the Dragonite event, but I haven't downloaded it yet. I'll have to take care of that tomorrow while I watch TV before I get Shaymin on Monday.

It says in the ad that they are.

Went after work to get Shaymin. Downloaded it and grabbed it from the guy at the Pokemart, but haven't checked it out yet.
 
My TRU was having problems. Thought it might be my DS, since I'm having screen problems...thought maybe the whole blasted thing was dying. But other people I saw couldn't get it either.

Will try after work one of these next days.

No. You don't need to have an previous event Pokemon to get the current ones.
 
I don't believe that's what they were asking. I think they meant whether or not they had to pick up the dragonite at the pokemart before getting the shaymin.

That's correct if you haven't picked up your dragonite from the poke'mart guy you need to pick up him before you get the shaymin poke'mon also You can have max three poke'mon cards once you have three you'll need to get rid of one before say downloading regigigas that's comming up if you have three of them.

You get a $5 off a poke'mon game good through 8-14 I already have poke'mon mystery dungeon and diamond/pearl so I didn't use it..

Well in that case, then yes, you need to pick up the Dragonite from the guy at the Pokemart before you download Shaymin.
 
Ah, thanks guys. To clarify, what I meant was that I had the Dragonite, but hadn't yet picked him up from the Pokemart. It's the only event Pokemon I have, so it seems like I can get the Pokemon card for Shaymin, so it'll be in my game and able to pick up, but I'll just have to get the Dragonite at the Pokemart before I'm able to get Shaymin from the Pokemart? I didn't have the time to get my Dragonite with good IVs today, so I wouldn't want to go tomorrow only to find out I need to pick up my Dragonite first.
 
You can still keep dragonite to get shaymin if dragonite the only poke'mon you have to pick up and no other event card you can still download the shaymin card and after that all you need to do is get your dragonite with good IV's and then get shaymin.

I'm still reseting for a good IV's for my dragonite and I still got my shaymin I just had to delete the darkrai pokemon event card to have room..
 
Awesome, thanks for the info guys! I wish I had gotten my DS sooner. I used to be such an expert in the GBA era, but I'm so behind now....
 
the guy at the store was super pumped about the whole thing, and so were my friends. i bought a copy of diamond just to get the shaymin. so now i have a level 50 insurance card with me so i dont lose any battles in the beginning due to not knowing any of these fucking new pokemon (this is my first pokemon game since red/blue)
 
yeah, it takes a few turns to get it to do what you want, but all the attacks one-shot at this point and its got enough HP to survive its own dicking around.
 
They won't necessarily survive their own dicking around, because they can also attack themselves (they did once in an older game at least)
 
Just reminding everyone that Regigigas will be available starting tomorrow at participating Toys R Us stores in the US until March 21st (1 day before Platinum!!).

He is at level 100 and has a special moveset, allows you to catch the Regitrio (Regirock, Registeel, Regice) in Platinum, and after you have caught all three, it gives you the ability to obtain a level 1 Regigigas.

find a friend who has it and is willing to trade or join a pokemon forum and go to the trade center cause now that its over, they'll be popular but going like hot cakes cause there rare and collectors will snatch them up.
 
Woo, I got my Regigigas! I have a Japanese version of Platinum, so I wonder if this Regigigas will unlock the other 3 Regis in that one...

Haha, it's kind of circular, yes. I have R/S/E, so it's no big deal to me. For those who don't have R/S/E though, they can't get Regigigas because they can't get the Regi trio. Nintendo is giving people this Regigigas which in turn allows them to get the Regi trio in Platinum. :)
 
Yeah, I think I'm going to throw my Regigigas onto my JP Platinum to get the Regitrio, and then get the level 1 Regigigas, then redo the process when I get the American version of Platinum.
 
As with Shaymin, my TRU didn't have it working. Well, I didn't try running in, since my 1.5 yr old was getting cranky, and it was raining meowths and growlithes...

The first time I tried to get shaymin I went in, then I swung by later and stopped in the parking lot. Man, that's a lot easier with a baby with.

I'm a little bummed that I missed Shaymin but since I'll be there on Friday to buy RE5 I figured I'd get Regigigas. Is there anything special about it since I already have one?

You have to have this one in order to obtain the Regitrio in Platinum.

That seems unnecessarily hostile. He has a valid point -- if you don't want it, don't go. If other people don't want event Pokemon, they don't have to go either. I, for one, look forward to picking up Regigigas this weekend, whether or not someone else views it as 'useless'.
 
No, I am getting one. I'm just saying it's just a forgettable item in the long line of Event Pokemon/Items. Granted he's going to get you through battles...NPC battles. But it's not going to do you well against Battle Island Pokemon or other players. 'Gigas is about as useful as the Secret Key to enable other Rotom forms.

Hey... that's me. I've always been into collecting aspect of the game anyway.

Fortunately, my TRU had everything set up properly for all of the events. I'd hate it if I had to actually ask an employee about the event.

These events are always fun for me. Probably because when I was a boy, in the R/B/Y days, I lived in a small town where there was no chance to participate without my parents driving an hour each way. Never gonna happen. Now that I live in a medium sized city (with TRU's) I can participate, and makes me happy.
