Sorry, but no good game trading promos this time in marketing. For those of you waiting to get rid of a system, now is the time to do it for some extra credit.

Trade Values according to the Wiki.
(Green means it is starting on 10/16)
(White is a continuation from last marketing period)
 (Red means it is ending on 10/15)

Trade Promos

Promo: "Trade in your Xbox, PS2, Gamecube, or Xbox 360 and get $20 extra in credit" Systems must be fully functional and have all hook-ups with the controller. This deal does not get extra bonuses.

Promo: "Trade in your old Xbox and get $80 credit towards an Xbox 360 console."
This works on both the Pro package and the core system.

"Power Trade Offer" Trade any games towards the reservation or purchase of the following 4 games, receive and extra 20% trade credit (excluding hardware).
- Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess (Gamecube or Wii versions)
- Gears of War (Regular or Collectors)
- Final Fantasy XII (Regular or Collectors)
- All other Titles get a 10% increase when all credit applied to preorder

Promo: "Extra $10 trade-in credit with the trade-in of 3 PS2, XBOX, GC, DS or PSP games"
Customers trading in 3 PS2, XBOX, GC, DS or PSP games receive an extra $10 trade credit. Customers can mix formats. For example, 2 PS2 games and 1 XBOX game can receive the total extra $10. 2006 and earlier sports, all wrestling and all demo discs are still excluded from this offer. THIS IS STACKABLE WITH THE EDGE/GAMESTOP CARD.

Promo Extended: "Get any new or used XB360 game for $9.99 when you trade-in 2 Xbox 360 Games" Trade exclusions include all 2006 and older sports titles, Kameo, Perfect Dark Zero, King Kong, Project Gotham 3, Ridge Racer 6, Outfit & Amped 3. Offer good on any XB360 game $59.99 or less.

Events your store may be doing... Call ahead of time to make sure.

Event: "Gears of War Preview" Select stores will be staying open late on 10-21 in order to show off Gears of War for the Xbox 360. The showing will start at 9 PM and last approximately 15-20 minutes from what I can tell.

Event: "Final Fantasy XII Costume Contest & Midnight Opening" Some stores may end up doing a costume contest for the release of Final Fantasy XII. Participants may dress up as any Final Fantasy character of their choosing (Prizes may be available, although I'm not to sure about it). Some stores may also be participating in a midnight opening for Final Fantasy XII.

Grah, I traded in some stuff and asked about getting 20% on twilight princess and they were all like yeah, but I got a guy that was just starting and he didn't know how to do shit so it took forever and they ended up giving me the 3 for $10, I got a more card, and then the fuckers didn't give me any 20% on zelda so that sucks.

Anyway, here's what I did:

Zelda 4 swords - $9
Sly 2 (PS2) - $4
Harry Potter Azkaban (XBX) - $2.50
Pac-man World 2 (XBX) - $4
The Getaway: Black Monday - $3
Metroid Prime 2 (GC) - $7
Luigi's Mansion (GC) - $4

Swing Away Golf (PS2) - $1
Eye Toy (PS2) - $1
PS2 component cables - $3

All in all by getting a more card and adding 10% and what-not I ended up with around $62 credit and $50 went towards Zelda. I'll probably just cancel zelda and do 30% bonus next time I trade stuff in.
 
didn't have a coupon, but got rid of some stuff I didn't want anyway:

Used that to buy Zelda Wii, and realized I needed a little more so I could pay off Contact for the DS. I had MGS2 left, so I bought MaxPayne 2 and Sega GT:

Max Payne 2 .50 to $3.50
Sega GT $1 to $4

Total :13.50

Not too bad, especially for games that I don't want and wouldn't be worth putting on Ebay.

Up and down experience today... I have no clue where my return credit for Okami went - can they keep credit on my account on the computer, or is it possible it was credited back to my Edge without being swiped? He thought he had to put it on a gift card, but then he said "Oh, nevermind." So I assume he found a different way to do it. Kinda lost track of the transactions involved there, I'm gonna need to call in tomorrow and make sure everything's okay. Also preordered something but he forgot to give me the extra 10%, so I'm gonna have another $5 added on tomorrow if they don't give me any hassle.

I'm so happy that this deal has been extended (called my local EB to confirm), I've garnered $153 in credit so far and I've got another $40 coming my way for my next set of three games!

Should I get a 360 or a Wii? Tough call...Wii's gonna be crazy awesome, but all my friends have 360s and play on Live all the time...We'll see.

I'd get a 360, just for the fact that most of the launch bugs and kinks have been fixed, and the Wii will most definitly have problems (Like all other systems at launch).

Outside of minor hinge cracks on the DS lite and one of the smallest batches of dead pixels ever on the original DS, I can't think of a single piece of Nintendo hardware that has had problems at launch... they're known for a reason as being one of the most reliable hardware producers.

At the very least (Not being biased, I want a Wii badly), I would wait a little bit to see if any problems exist, to be on the safe side.

I guess I just don't see it as a real reason to wait--my brother bought a white DS lite at launch, it had the hinge crack, called Nintendo, and had a perfect one in his hands within forty-eight hours... their customer service is amazing. And if it's really a fear, just get a replacement plan at BB or CC and then you can swap it for a new color down the line anyway.
 
A friend of mine in FL told me that his GS was running a 40% off deal for used PS2 and XBox games priced $9.99 or less. I asked him if it was for that store only and he wasn't sure since thay had a sign printed out from corporate. Any idea if that is part of this new promotion?

When you guys trade in games, do you keep it sealed? Or do you guys open it and trade it in used but never played to lessen the suspicion?

Heh, two of the ones I traded in today were sealed, but one of them I've owned since April.

Generally they aren't allowed to take in sealed games (stolen property and the like), but I don't think he cared this time since I've traded in dozens and dozens of games before.

I don't understand this thinking. If it is stolen, what is going to stop people from opening the game up? All it is going to do is stop the theif from trading one time, since the next time they'll open them up. Besides, it seems that trading stuff in disc only is more likely to be stolen then the whole thing.

Its just annoying to have to open up games before trading them in. I'm sure even if I bring in all the receipts, some GS/EBs wouldnt take sealed games.

lol...ur ripping them off already, why not just take the extra 10 seconds to take off the shrinkwrap

A thief usually wants cash ASAP and doesn't bother with the wrappers before trading them in for cash. I'm guessing you don't realize this, but most consumers don't trade in sealed games. Only people who are flipping the games or thiefs with stolen games will trade in sealed copies. You might want to buy yourself a pair of scissors or a knife, taking off the wrapper can't be that hard (annoying, time consuming, etc.)

i called 2 gamestops yesterday and they both told me the deal ended today. one even said she didn't get any emails regarding an extension. they even denied my max payne 2 for ps2 and xbox saying games trading in under $1 were excluded. dunno what im gonna do with my leftover games now. this is in san jose, ca. the gamestop in eastridge is the one that gave me the trouble. the great mall one is the other store that said deal was over today.

that UNDER 1 dollar sounds false, since only 1 game trades in for under 1 dollar
 
I called 2 Gamestops & 1 EB(Sunday morning)

1 Gamestop told me that they are not doing the promo anymore but that guy seem like an idiot...The other two said that they receive an e-mail saying it was extended but did not know exactly the end date...
 
I heard the no under $1 thing too at one place, and there and one other store, both told me it was extended until sometime in October...
 
lol ive learned to not take what people say about these things with a grain of salt anymore... only those that are regulars on here will have the best info on these deals, everyone else will be gullible and just post whatever the employees tell them

Thanks for the opinions, guys. I want a Wii desperately, but I miss being "in the loop", playing the same games as my friends. I'll probably grab a Wii first and get a 360 soon thereafter.
 
Luckily sports games are not excluded from the 30% extra. 40% extra with Edge would give me $8.50 for NFL Street 2 and $10 for Fight Night Round 2, I'll have to consider those.
 
I've been told at 1 store they won't apply the 3 for $10 deal with any games that trade in for $1 or less. The manager did say it was at his discretion since they would lose money. I just went to another store and traded it in there.

At least the manager was nice and didn't try to give me any BS. Shame more managers don't act like that.

The $1 thing is YMMV... the Gamestop by me doesn't accept $1 trades as part of the bonus, but the EB down the street does.

I was pleasantly suprised at some of the value for these games. I picked up most of them at yard sales for 50 cents to $1 each. SOmetimes for less in a bulk deal. 360 here I come. Remeber, these are stand alone prices, they don't get the extra $10 deal. You do however get 10 percent extra with your edge card.

So if I go trade in some games 3 for $10, then use the coupon from the back of game informer for 30% extra towards a preorder, is it possible to get the 3 for $10, then add 10% with the more card, then get another 30% towards the preorder? ;)

And also, I'm guessing the 30% preorder thing wouldn't be for all the credit, but just enough to basically pay off the entire game (or as much as I want to put towards it)?
