Urban Dead - The Official Cheap Ass Survivor Thread
Well I'll be damned! Er...Actually I'll be dead! I just now suffered my first death. I stopped my trek in Reganbank to kill a zombie, any xp is good xp. Had him at 2 hp, with no others of his kind on the map. I delivered the final blow and still had 2 ap to spare, perfect to move one block and enter the VSB bldg. I had just verified. As soon as I make the kill, I leave the room to grab a drink, I stop off to pet the dogs and come back. DEAD! I was gone all of 5 to 10 min. and had a full 50 hp! Seriously, the damn zombie had to have hit me with virtually every single attack. Of all the no good, rotten luck. I can't believe I died in this fashion, for nothing but a glass of water!

Sorry for the rant, just a little ticked off at the moment. I've never died before so this is new to me. At least I know there's a revive point real close, I'm off to find the req. tool thingy. Good luck tonight guys, obviously I won't be arriving in as timely a manner as I had hoped.

PLUME, MAKLER: With regards to trying to level up while traveling to the group from a fellow low-level wanderer. Search LIGHTED bldgs for supplies, pick off zeds that others or you have previously weakened, no matter what don't sleep outside, always count your ap to make positive moves in the right direction (even small moves help), buddy up to friendly groups in the suburb as their VSB bldgs will save your life. Oh, and never, EVER, get up and get a drink of water!
The one I'm fighting had 20 HP when I started and I had about 30AP. Yet, I missed nearly every shot until near the end. Every place close by has been barricaded too strongly for me to get in. And I never find anything with I search hospitals or firehouses.

EDIT: Sorry about your luck, Chuckie.

Thanks chuckie. Question for you guys .. is there a way to tell the barricade level of a building before you get to it? I've been trying to explore police stations and auto repair shops for looting purposes but it seems like every building I encounter except for the occasional church or hospital is barricaded to the point of no entry.

No, there isn't in game, the Wiki might have some info as to the town's barricade plan, but that's it.

Aside from that, the NE block of Caiger Mall has 24 zombies inside, 41 outside. They need help, all generators down, and I'm infected inside the Auto Shop east of Caiger. If you can, get over there and get some shots in, but do NOT spend the night in the mall.

Between not being able to hit nearly dead zombie (you know what I mean), and reading about New Line getting pissed about Dead Rising...it hasn't been a good zombie day for me.

Coincidentally enough, My netflix movies arrived today. The two that were at the top of my queue today? Chinatown and Night of the Living Dead.

Hotshot: Any suggestions as to what revive request tool to use, i checked the wiki but didn't see a link to any in Reganbank. I know where a cemetary is that is marked w/ graffiti, are these usually accurate? Should I just up and stand in there? (Sorry for all the ?'s, new to this whole dying thing)

Plume: Are you in Wykewood then? I went throught there a few days back, I'll look over the map and see if I remember any VSB bldgs that you can enter. Who knows, by the time I revive you may have caught up to me!

I'm somewhere near Banger Cinema in Wykewood. I wandered a little bit, and I keep forgetting to check when I get my 1 ap back.

I agree and am getting out of the mall for now.

Edit: Can't believe there's zergbot in the auto shop here as well...

Maybe I wont go up to Darvell Heights for awhile. Sounds too hot up there. I might be better off roaming the green zone to build up my xp first.

PLUME: Not sure what level it's at now but the Godfry Building right next to Banger Cinema was my favorite spot to hole up in all of Wykewood when I was there. Be careful though as I noticed a lot more zombies in Mornington then Wykewood, and M-ton has even fewer entry points to access. We are actually not that far apart as you are on the North side of W-wood and I'm on the South side of R-bank only M-ton lies betwen us.

EDIT: In case you wind up going the wrong direction, Adalbert Gen. Hosp. is an entry point that the JoGenerals keep up pretty well.

I remember trying to get in Godfry and it was too well baracaded for me to get into.

I think I'm just going to get my AP and try to get away and someplace safe and go to "real" bed

Caiger Mall is now consistently under attack by a group of 60+ zombies. Until further notice, each nightly raid is dedicated to the defense of Caiger Mall. Retreat back to Hallett or any other safe point after each raid. Do NOT spend the night in the Mall.

Not a good night for most of us, really. I shot my wad - yeah, you heard me - retaking Eutychian's last night. Combine that with Shady's PKing and the fact that Caiger is no longer safe, and getting back into a fighting state (IE, with bullets) is gonna take me some time.

Well, started as a consumer... And all I managed to do so far was take shelter in a hospital and collect as many FAKs as possible. I tried hitting others, but couldn't land one at all. Hopefully tomorrow I can at least get some experience points.

I'm currently in Havercroft South-Southeast of Darvall. If someone needs a heal tomorrow and are around Ephrem Gen Hospital, post here or pm me for a request. I really would like some exp points.

Hmm, maybe I'll make a hike up there. Are there any less than heavily barricaded hospitals around there? And maybe some safehouses that are also less than heavy?

I dunno. Without free running, it's a crapshoot. And with the nearby mall under siege by the Militant Order of Barhah, being a consumer doesn't seem like such a good idea right now.

I guess I'll just level up in Havercroft until I can get free running, which will probably be a very long time.

Being a consumer seems more real to me. Don't really care about killing zombies, but more on what would I be doing if zombies took over the world. I'd think a consumer closely would resemble what course of action I would take if such a thing were to happen.

Though knifing other people and using FAKs on them doesn't sound too real to me either, haha.

Caiger is looking shitty right now and I'm too low on AP to do much of anything about it. I've logged in quite a bit today and spent my minimal AP doing what I could, whenever I could. 40+ Z's are housed in the west side of the mall right now, but each corner is nicely stacked with a good number of humans. We're not too bad yet, but another week of siege and things could get ugly.

Thankfully I'm mostly loaded up equipment-wise. Although, I would suggest loading up yourself too 100% E if the generators in the mall allow it. Get your shopping done now while you still can!

I've only got 24 AP right now, i do have a fair amount of ammo though, I'll wait until sometime tomorrow and make a concentrated effort to help caiger.

Remember, guys - you can free-run from a ruined building into a standing building.

Also, Mak: Any extra axes up in this area are appreciated.

I'm still six suburbs away, but moving in closer. Hopefully I'll pick up a skill, or at least find some items by the time I get up there.

I'll have to try again tomorrow night.

When I play again tonight I should really focus on locating and killing a zombie. I need xp so I can get that free running skill so I can make my way up to you guys quicker. There are two near me right now that have 40hp .. not great I know but they're not fighting back either.

Do you guys, need healing up there? I was thinking of hiking my consumer up to Eutychian's and act as a heal bot for you guys. Especially since that is all I can do, not having diagnosis makes it hard as well. I calculated it to take about 20+ AP points to get up there from my current location in Hovercraft.

There are plenty of survivors up here that need healing, and I could point you to them. Stock up on FAKs from hospitals not in Darvell, cuz our three are most likely down and without generators.

Well at this rate caiger is gonna stay shitty. I tried getting in and every damn building in the area is VHB or higher. It's like the zombies are getting help from humans.

Hmm, I guess I'll stock up on FAKs for the meantime. Then probably head up to Darvell tomorrow. It seems like you guys can hold off the zombies. BTW, does the 160 access limit reset around 2pm PST?

What are some good ap conserving skills to get other than free running? Are there any? I really burn through ap fast which sucks cause I want to play this a lot more than 20 minutes.

I would think anything that increases your accuracy or something like diagnosis if you're using FAKs.

You can probably make another character, but they cant be within close proximity or you will trigger the systems anti-multi- character abuse system and screw up your rates.

Everyone in the Caiger Mall area will be making a coordinated attack against the horde at 10pm EST. Meet up in the IRC at the normal time to coordinate.
I'll be there unless my valentine has other plans.
I'm sure your hand will understand.;)

Anyway, i won't have a ton of AP, but i'll try to help. the things is, for this to work we're gonna need tot take down the barricades to some surrounding buildings, unless caiger is wide open. Every single building around caiger has been overly caded up.

Pretty sure NW Caiger will be wide open for a while - 60+ zeds outside, and they've begun to move into SW.

Tried to make my way up to you guys, but ran into several groups of zeds wandering Mornington with lots of HP. A lot of buildings were too barricaded for me to hide in, as well. Was able to get a few hits in here and there to level up and pick up Hand to Hand skills.

I'm stuck where I am for now. I'm getting closer, but it'll still be days before I can be of use or even near you guys.
