Urban Dead - The Official Cheap Ass Survivor Thread
but I'm tired of PMing stuff
Perhaps we can try doing a pm tree. You pm the orders to two people then they pass it along. I'm sure it will fail at times with people not passing it along or not checking their pms right away. But a thought.

Dulston's actually where my nephew brought my guy. If you guys end up as zombies on your way, I've got plenty of syringes waiting.

I only have 19 AP at the moment, so I'm going to wait until the morning before I make my move. Hopefully we don't get raided in the middle of the night.

I'm so far away from you guys it isn't even funny. Oh and though Peddlesden Village is listed as a ghost town, its not as I've got a shitload of zeds around me

Too bad we can't edit the OP...

Yeah guys, head Northeast to Dulston. It's pretty much the safest atm. If you want access to the malls you might have some trouble because some people are overbarricading for fun, or just to screw people over.

I'm in Tree-something mall. I agree, there are a bunch of pkers running about.

I'm currently in the process of getting a toolbox and construction skill, as well as the NT tree (only have the first level). It would be helpful if someone could scope out the area I went to in the pms. I ran out of ap for the day unfortunately. Again, watch out for over-barricading.

I'm leaving Heytown as I type this, heading NE.

UPDATE: I'm holed up in the Weston Crescent Fire Station in Dulston. Gonna conserve some AP.

Probably a pretty important meeting tonight. I think I'll be able to bend my schedule enough to make it (Mondays and Thursdays are normally no good for me), but I expect to make it today. And as many of you guys that can should, too. That fucking means you, HotShot.

Alright, got everything for full-support @ 118% encumberance. Though, I've had them for a while now..

x18 FAKs
x10 Syringes
x1 Generator
x1 Fuel
x1 Toolbox

and for safety reasons,

x1 Radio
x1 Flak
x1 Fire Axe

Anything I should get/lose more of?
Anyone floating around Ridleybank? I need a revive. I'm sick of playing as a zombie.
We don't go to Ridleybank. That is Zombie Ground Zero.

I'll not be at the meetings tonight or tomorrow.
But should make Sunday.

100% encumbered with 7 pistols, 2 shotguns, 5 extra clips and a hand full of shells.
4 faks.

Bring it on.

Wait a minute you're all a bunch of filthy survivor harmans......in that case prepare to taste my infection!!!

BTW anyone want to join a CAG zombie only group?

There's a CAG zombie group, but I believe you'd be one of the only ones in it. It's called Cheap Ass Corpses on the wiki, I believe.

Join the survivor side... unless you have Brain Rot, then we'd have to shoot you.

edit: I can't meet for the IRC anymore. Most likely for a couple weeks. Can't leave the comp on either as well. I've pretty much made my active hours in the morning 8PST.
Why is Dakerstown and the rest of the Northeast corner showing gray?

Do zombies lack the ability to hold territory?

http://wiki.urbandead.com/index.php/Suburb
when I was moving through Peddlesden Village a few days ago, it was for the most part a ghost town when you hit the north part of the suburb. And Gatcombeton is currently a ghost town.

as for the nature of zeds, they move, consume and then move on in the hunt for more humans

Alright, I just went out and explored a little bit. Overall Rolt Heights seems suprisingly devoid of any Zeds. I got back and I am now on the Rhodenbank/Dulston border. Anyone need healing?

You're far enough away from all of us that it'd be a full day's trek to get to you and revive you and we'd probably end up dead in the process. Head to the northeast if possible, we're stocking up over there at the moment.

Sorry I haven't been on the past few days; some personal things have come up and I really haven't been in the mood. I'll be on the meeting tonight.

"Magnum" Joey wound up outside with no AP last night.
"Magnum" Joey was attacked and killed.
"Magnum" Joey stood up and mauled the crap out a zombie, saving a human.
"Magnum" Joey got shot in the face with a shotgun. :(

Karma.

I will probably level up tommorow. What do you guys think I should get?

I am looking at:

Diagnosis
NecroTech Employment
Basic Firearms Training

I'm thinking NecroTech Employment.

You have to look at how much you slow down a Zombie.

Diagnosis allows you to spot people needing heals. They gain an AP for building barricades and repairing buildings. You gain more APs to look for FAKs. Zeds require many APs to knock 5-15 points off of a person or remove a level from a barricade. Of course, hanging out here or IRC or using PMs will save those APs, too.

If you immediately get Lab Experience after Necrotech Employment, a revived zed requires 1-10 AP to stand up again, at least 1 AP to enter a building, 1 AP to jump out of a window and 1-10 AP to stand up zed again. If the zed becomes a PKer, his inferior human combat skills will waste more AP wounding a human. If the zed waits outside to be killed by a horde, those zombies will waste dozens of APs and he'll waste 1-10 AP becoming zed again.

Basic Firearms Training means you'll spend more AP looking for bullets and guns in malls and police stations. Then, you'll want to use more AP whittling a zed to nothing. Then, said dead zed will spend 1-10 AP standing up with full health.

This game system is as such that it is better to mitigate zed damage than to kill the zeds.

Here's a neat little game I found online in the vein of Zombies:

zombierampagequ7.jpg

That's near the end of my current level. The ground was spotless at the start of the round.

Anything I should get/lose more of?
What's this noise about you quitting due to getting PKed? Couldn't you just teleport away? Modium once said he was quitting due to PKing - he was back in a week. I await your return.
Anyone floating around Ridleybank? I need a revive. I'm sick of playing as a zombie.
Ridleybank is the most consistently zombie-held territory in the entire game. I ain't going there.

http://wiki.urbandead.com/index.php/Suburb
It is hard for them to do, yes, but more often than not, they just get bored.
THERE'S A CAG URBAN DEAD GROUP!?!?!? I've been on UD for over a year. I'll glady join up with a CAG group.
Good. Need more vets.

Oh. Man, I just had my first cup of coffeh in a longgg time. Yeah, I was gonna participate in the meeting, but I really wanted to Brawl instead. I already joined the channel, so I made up a lie that I was PK'd by HotShot or something :^o:^o:^o:^o:^o:^o:^o:^o:^o:^o:^o:^o

That is why I didn't comfort you. ;)

I'm back at full health. A doctor at the hospital where I collapsed brought me up to full health. Now, I just need to rest up and get my AP back.

Amazingly, Roachtown is showing green. Based on the overall map, the horde is moving southeast and losing steam along the northern suburbs.

I'll leave this for a more experienced player to answer. What parts and skills necessary to bring ruined buildings back up to code?

Here's a big strategy idea:

A small group of high level humans could restore Necrotech buildings and hospital buildings in the Northwest. If numbers were kept low enough, the neighborhoods could be restored without the map changing from gray. Then, the zed horde would rain down on the southeast while the remaining survivors went north and outflanked the horde back to the Northwest.

Instead of facing the humans' last stand, the zombie horde would face 3 days of movement AP back to the Northeast while humans were spending those same days worth of AP searching for revives, FAKs and bring several dozen buildings out of a ruined status.

Any thoughts?

Well here is the thing, the map doesn't auto update. People have to do it, which means any Spy could quickly ruin this plan. However I do think it is a good idea. You would just need The Construction skill, a toolbox, generators and fuel.

Also, I want to go do some exploring, does anybody know where the closest Zeds are at?

Or if someone needs healing let me know quick.

Scouted forward a bit. Seems to be pretty clear free running to the west of us, despite what the suburb map may say. Southwest might be a good route to try as well as the map shows a handful of green suburbs surrounding us.

Man, this game is starting to piss me off.

So many zeds around its crazy. I tried to explore and came across about 30 plus zeds in the 10 moves I made north of the starting point.

I dont know....its getting repetitive.
