Valkyria Chronicles 2 - Out Now

I'm a veteran of VC1, but it still took me a LONG time to figure out how to upgrade weapons. I knew it was in the R&D building, but for some reason couldn't figure it out!

I think I was around level 12 by the time I realized I had to move left and right in the menus...having the latest weapons sure makes killing enemies easier! And I'm finally spending all that money I've been earning!
You can go back and play prior month missions.
I've played the 3 Free missions, there is a story mission that disappears from January regarding the invasion of Arlem and taking out that tank. I know a free mission in Arlem appears in February but doesn't have the 4th area. Does that ever reappear?

I did 3 Ace missions so far, Jinn, Cindy and Shuntr. In addition to getting the development plans, you get guns, lances and wrenches as a bonus for beating them again. Off of Jinn in the first paid mission Being Cruel To Be Kind I got after beating him 5 times 2x Hildr g1 machine guns which are awesome, 2x Yule g1 wrenches which are anti-armor wrenches and 5x Rre Metal C Lv2 on the last time I beat him, I don't think I'll get any more guns from him though.

I got a Goll g1 pistol off of Cindy and Hrist g1 off of Shuntr after snagging their development plans. The Paid mission with Jinn is an easy 3 turn A rank for 8k experience and like 4k ducats.

Somebody on Gamefaqs posted an Ace weapon listing up to September, just figured it'd be easier to reference than a posting or two. Hopefully they'll update it.

Seriously though, I am done with this game (at April). The story and characters are beyond crap, and the pacing is some of the worst I've ever seen. It goes like this: Story, beat 3-4 required, completely pointless and generic missions based off maps you've already beaten, story, a single story mission, repeat. They are padding the length of the game by at least triple what it really should be. Absolutely ridiculous. Combine this with the story and characters and I just can't bring myself to attempt to play this game any further. A real shame.

You want Shenmue 3? You better break out a copy of Blazblue and troll the EVER LOVING fuck out of it. That is how you will get Shenmue 3.

when you troll upon a game
makes no difference who you are.
Anything your heart desires
will come true.
OHHHH SOOOOOOOOO TRUEEEEEEEEEEEE

There's a game you have to troll
no request is too bizzare
can you troll upon the blue
your dream will come true.

The first wish was the return of Duke
The second wish will be the revival of mue

And finally I wish for the impossible. RETURN. OF. SIERRA.

I think that's one end of the spectrum, I personally like the game a lot. The maps I'm not entirely happy about but the class design and all the different ways to complete a mission with an assortment of classes really is neat and a big progression from the first VC where Scouts were insanely OP, Lancers were terrible and Shocktroopers were my tank killers. A lot of things take place on the drill grounds and there should be more areas around campus, which I can understand detracts from enjoyment. I saw Arlem a little too much in February to April but now I'm seeing more Diebal and Leanbluff along with some desert spaces.

It's a sequel to a game that started with an invasion of your home town where your people are getting killed fleeing. It's really hard to top that cinematically on a PSP. I think the game does it's best to draw you in with the classmates that you're given and I've completed a number of their storylines to further connect myself with the cast moreso than the little blurbs in the Personnel tab that would pop up in VC instead of a cutscene with voice acting. Instead of just being about the main cast where nobody else appears in cutscenes, you have whole stories that pop up more story than given previously. Unit placement changes on the maps, adding a bit of variety to replaying maps(not a whole lot but more than VC where it became rote).

I'm not really sure how much more you could ask except for more war and bigger maps.

They're tank decorations, they also have the small benefit of adding a couple of points to a couple of stats. Nothing game breaking or life changing but they're a nice little touch to personalize your vehicle.

I'm done with this game too (technically still in April). I think the characters are boring and story is utter garbage. I kept playing only because I enjoyed the gameplay. However, after I completed the story mission in April when you go against Baldren (whom I defeated), the game crashed while trying to save.

That was the last straw. If I could save during battles I'd be ok with occasional crash. But with the way it is now, I lost all my enthusiasm for this game.

I will pass on VC3. I will only buy another VC if it's on PS3.

I don't think the problem is that it's on PSP. I think the problem is BECAUSE it's on PSP, Sega thought it gave them a license to dumb down absolutely everything about the game to the point that the only thing it is even remotely worth playing for is what is left of the gameplay from the original. Everything else is utter garbage. I have some hopes for 3 since it looks a lot less dumb than this one, but I will approach it very cautiously.

I think the setting is too light for you guys, you wanted hardcore war, you wanted to be legendary heroes. You want to have Largo and Jann booty bump as they take out tanks, while Varrot pants in a milfy fashion. You want Rosie's anger to be awesome like it was, she was a bar brawling bitch. I hope VC3 satisfies that.

How long is this freaking game? It takes about 40 hours to speed through main story mission or an average 50 hours to beat. But the post game content in this game is crazy! It's even longer than actual story mode. I feel like I been playing this game for weeks; even with speed rush for majority of my games. This game never seem to end.

A lot of content in this game feels like artificial padding to add more game length since you playing the same 13 maps over and over again with different unit /camp placement. It doesn't help that you have to play the same maps over again to tech up your weapons or going for item drops for your class/weapon upgrades. Those items drops are extremely frustrating since they're completely random. Not to mention, class upgrades items does not pool up together for an entire team. You can get extremely unlucky and you could be playing the same maps over and over again to upgrade the next tier class. The only way to rule out some of the randomness is by playing story maps, of course, in order to get that you have to beat the game.

Yes, this game is extremely padded with worthless filler. It's probably 3 times longer than it needs to be. That's the major reason why I quit playing.

It says on the blog...4.99. If the missions contain new voice acting and such, it could be a real deal...if they're just generic missions in existing maps, I'll probably pass.

i played this game way back on sept 9 was the last date i played it... hopefully get back to it soon..... just got up to the 2nd month

Dawn of heroes sucked up a lot of time between then and now ( if you can get that game under 20 its a okay game to waste time but max level at 25 what you get to before you even get to the 4 region out of 6) gets boring very quickly after the 15th hour.

just dont know to restart playing this or keep it on the back burner cause i still got

Etrian Odyssey III: The Drowned city i got last week and only put 1 hour into it so far

and probally be getting

FF 4 lights off amazon for 25 and renting the new pokemon ranger game next week (unless kmart has an super deal on the pokemon game )

The initial feedback on VC2 seemed to be really positive, but after reading the last few posts it doesn't seem like the game's appeal held people's attention. Am I understanding that correctly?

The game took great strides in making the game mechanics better...tanks are far more customizable (you can build a 1-cp model)...character classes have more variety in their elite versions (with each class having two immediate elite versions, and each elite version having two more elite-elite versions)...and they include everyone in the cast more. First game focused on ~5 people in your squad, whereas this one still focuses a fair deal on the three core, but still gives everyone else their fair share of face time.

However, the story is insipidly cliche. You play as the wacky class of screwups...the group no one expects anything out of. The mission structure is also full of filler. In order to do the one story mission per month, you have to do a number (so far, ~3) of filler missions. Missions with no story that have you going back through map fragments you've been through many times over.

Regardless of all that though, I'm still finding the game fun.

It's worth the $25 I paid for it at Kmart. I'd probably be more upset with the story if I paid more.

The final Blitz codes went up on the PS Blog this afternoon. 4 New codes, but the last one just unlocks stuff you could get through a save file link.

Free Code #1: After Burner Climax Tank Sticker: C9SAGP8M7PJ84H5S
Free Code #2: Resonance of Fate Tank Sticker: UJH5YB4Z7E33VCJT
Free Code #3: Nei (Phantasy Star II) Tank Sticker: 9H1FHVBV2YAZE3A1
Free Code #4: Unlockable Character Emelia (From Phantasy Star Portable:2), two new missions, and a Little Wing tank sticker: FSHL2DTP1EVB52AN

The game does have a lot of filler and for the people that just wanted core story missions and stuff, I can't blame them. They want it to get to the point. For the most part, I think the game is fine. They improved things here and there but sent it backwards in terms of story compared to the 1st game. I actually do like the multiple areas, now they just need to increase the map size per area.

They made a lot of improvements in game mechanics such as back attacks, transport APC, new class units, a lot more content, add multiple areas for additional strategies, terrain effects(fog, heat, snow, thunder) and your tank can add more shortcuts routes like cross over ice or build bridges/ladders.

The three main problems with game is poor story, small map size and a lot of fillers. The fillers in this game are insane. The combination of force optional missions, random drops, random potential activation and several weapon upgrades require you to play same map over 5+ times. And to add more insult to injury, if you want the last map for this game you have to buy it for 10,000,000 gold. When you reach that point your not even close to affording it due to money spent on weapon upgrades or buying maps. So, if you really want that map that's over 40+ map fillers farming for gold.
