Video Game Baby Names!!!

... naming your kid is the one time when you need to put your nerd instincts aside. Just give the kid a normal name..

it may seem cool to name your kid after a video game character now so you can say...My kids totally named after a video game character, i'm hardcore!

but you may change your mind like 13 years later when the kids getting his ass kicked for being named Wesker or whatever you were planning on naming him.

Just because he said 5 doesn't mean you can do it in 3. Think before you post.

yuri? *playing shadow hearts* wat about master cheif??
oo oo!! FAYT!! thats a cool name

this thread reminds me of the time where we dared one of my friends to name his kid "nuts" or "little nuts" if its a girl

I've already decided that, if my future wife lets me that is, if I have a daughter I want to name her Rinoa. And no, if I have a son I won't name him Squall.

Nice comeback.

Man I've been saying forever that I'm going to name my first born son Pacman! Or Maybe first name Pac, middle name Man, and then my last name Wasser. Pac Man Wasser! It just kicks ass right off the tongue.
Now I just need to find me a chick that would be ok with naming her son Pacman...

After looking through a bit, Riku be good as what deadzone said.. Riku and also Rikku.. so it can go both ways XD.

And hey OP since you're naming your kid after a game char, at least Mmm it could attract other video gamers ^_^? maybe...

Other names for your kid:
Milenna
X
Paine or Payne
Chrono
Jin-- think of Tekken
and all the talk with Valentine.. Vincent Valentine

Although I reallize this thread is mostly bashing the OP, I'd like to make a list of the names I want to name my child (maybe to help out the OP). The hard part is finding one that goes well with your last name.

Alucard (From Hellsing - Not a game, but I like the anime)
Dante (DMC of course)
Barrett (FFVII, though it sounds way too much like my brother's name: Garrett)
Leon (RE 2 & 4)

Hmm... This is way harder than I anticipated...

If you are going for somethign majestic, you should try major characters of things. Like Gandalf, Arthas, and Revan. Those would kick-ass.
How about Pacman? Nothing to make fun of there!!

Actually my REAL honest-to-God last name IS pronouced Pacman. And NO I was never made fun of for that. In fact, most people who STILL here my last name think it is pretty cool when they hear it. For alleged video game fanatics, some of you sound awfully insecure. I have "survived" with a pseudo-video game name, why wouldn't he?

Do you want to change your name to Homer Junior? The kids can call you Ho-Ju!

Actually Wesker's not a bad name at all. Apparently if its a real name (in Canada atleast) as he pointed out no one really has to know it came from a video game at all. I mean we don't automatically assume everybody we meet named Mario was named after the video game character. So I say go for it. BUt I also kinda like some of the other suggestions people made. Chris Redfield and Leon Kennedy are both pretty cool names, plus they're the good guys to boot.
Thanks. The first sensible response so far!!!!!

On a related note, I have a friend who convinced his wife to let him name his child's middle name Vegeta from Dragonball Z.

I know someone who named their daughter Zelda 15 years ago. Luckily the girl is a looker so she doesn't get any abuse for it.

Please do not name your kid after a video game character...

Just don't do anything too ridiculous. Leon is a great name, and it pays homage to Leon Kennedy, who is awesome.

Just whatever you do don't name the kid Alfred. Alfred Ashford..... *cringe*

then name the daughter, Alexia, kill her in an experiment and make the son become a cross dresser

*I still have not finished the whole game, but am through disc 1, and the end of that disc is just too funny*
I named my first daughter Cammy because I liked the way it was spelled in SSF2.
I like that. It's cute, unique, easy to pronounce just from reading it, and not embarrassing IMO. Video game related names are okay as long as sound kind of normal/common.

Which game is this?
Resident Evil: Code Veronica.

Alfred Ashford is the villain, and Alexia is his sister.
Well they both are villains. All 3 of them.

when you come up with the video game character name that you want to name your daughter, just find some really big guy and tell him and then get him to shake the hell out of you until you change it to something normal.

Yeah I was thinking about doing the same for my kids, if I ever have any, but I actually thought of video game characters that have half normal names:

Female:
Terra/Tina (FFVI - Branford, Not the best Middle name)
Celes (FFVI - Chere, Hmm... That middle name... It MAY work)

Male:
Locke (FFVI - not sure if Cole Would work as a good middle name, but you never know)
Edgar (FFVI - ok, Figaro Will NOT make a good middle name)
Clyde (FFVI - Brahm may make a good middle name for it, as his real last name wouldn't... nor would Shadow, his Alias.)
Richter (Castlevania - Belmont wouldn't make the best middle name, so think up another)

All the Normal/Half normal ones I can think of right now.

Name him Clyde!
Clyde sounds cool...sorta.

And Zero sounds retarded. It really does.

"Hey Zero, gimme your lunch money"
As in, big fat Zero. Donut, bagel, less than one :p

First of all, I've personally known (or known of) people named Zelda, Luigi, Mario, and Zora (like Sora from Kingdom Hearts, was a girl by the way). Someone has probably already mentioned Yuna and Rikku already. But anyway, I would recommend (names that are somewhat normal):

Girls:

Sophita and Cassandra - Soul Calibur II
Kitana (or Katana), Mileena, Sonya - MK
Rayne - BloodRayne
Sheba, Mia, and Jenna - Golden Sun
Julia, Nina - Tekken
Natalya, Xenia - Goldeneye 007

Guys:
Isaac, Garet, Felix, Ivan - Golden Sun

Please put a lot of thought into the name and don't choose something like "Squirtle"

EDIT: Silvia from VJ2

hahaha, god i cant wait to have a kid named Spike/Killer/Rocky, so he could beat the shit out of all your stupid kids with crappy names.

Isn't Zora from OoT? I'd tell you guys the names I picked out, but I don't want anybody to steal them.

Edit: Rayne, Xenia, and Sheba all sound like porn star names.

No, Sheba reminds me of that short, squatting lady on chalkzone that some drawing is in love with, Xenia reminds me of Xena warrior princess and Rayne... well, OK, you got me there.

I don't know, I've never played it. Zora is a Hungarian name I believe. A girl had the same name on the first Joe Millionaire. I believe Zelda is German (F. Scott Fitzgerald's wife was named that) btw.

Yes, I agree Xenia :)Warrior Princess), Rayne, and Sheba sound like porn star names. I don't think Rayne would be that bad as a middle name though.

Hilarious, just hilarious.
I named my first daughter Cammy because I liked the way it was spelled in SSF2.

When I tell people that's where her name came from, they laugh and think I'm joking. But it's true...well, at least that's where the spelling came from.

Back when my local KBToys was closing, I was going to get my daughter the action figure of her namesake, but my wife vetoed that one. I imagine that could've caused some issues down the road...
Yah from my original list, Cammy was the only serious one. Well, except for Master Chief. :p I've met 2 people named Cammy spelled that way. Out of curiosity, what's the alternative spelling?

Oh and I now change my vote to Squirtle. When the kid hits puberty you can call him/her Wartortle or Blastoise, your choice.

My friend borrowed my copy of Parasite Eve and didnt give it back for like 2years because he wanted to beat everything including the elxtra missions. When he gave it back he said that once he got married and if he had a daughter he'd name her Aya after the main character Aya Brea...

Some how he convinced his wife to go along and they DID indeed have a daughter which he did indeed name Aya.
