Accusatory??? They literally have a video of a kid running over a guy with his truck with corroborated evidence that it was motivated by the victim being black. What agenda are you talking about here?
There's a movie called "Mississippi Burning." Have you heard of it? Maybe you should bea little more familiar with actual historical context before you dismiss it out of some false sense of objectivity.
Prime of his life? That picture looks like it was taken during his late 30s or early 40's. What the hell makes you think that he looks so young? You can see his age in his face, hands, dress, and rings. Not very observant are you.
Give me a reason why I should take your word for it. This is the closeset you've come to a valid point so make the most of it.
I'd say that the beating and murder of a black man because the victim was black pretty much firmly puts him in that category. A quick google search also reveals the murderer to be a racist homophobe. I don't know how the

someone could suggest otherwise.
How and where would he get the idea that it would make him "hard" or "cool?"
There is no evidence of drugs reported. If there is, I'd be the first to say that you were right. Either way, it doesn't fully absolve them as they didn't call the cops or anything.
Why is it likely a drug deal when when there is NO EVIDENCE for it. IF if was about drugs, wouldn't all police statements be consistant with your stupid theory?
Police reports are heresay. Got it. It's not like there was any evidence that the kid was a racist homophobe.
Whoops!

What makes you think that this hasn't already happened? Why do you think there aren't more arrests?
Like I said, you'd be surprised. I live in one of the most "tolerant" places in the US. We have no shortage of racists. Just because there aren't all out race-riots doesn't mean there aren't incidents. You just have no idea how to recognize them.
You don't have to wear a hood, burn crosses, or lynch black people to have ideologies that stem from white supremacy. Just because you aren't overt about it doesn't mean shit.
Economic and cultural dynamo? The south has the highest poverty related issues in the country and what culture are you talking about? IF the north is racist as

, what makes you think that the south is any better? At least the north doesn't have black prisoners that are direct decendants of slaves picking cotton on former slave plantations that are supervised by direct decendants of their overseers.
What makes you say that? Because of desegregation and the Civil Rights Act of 1964? The only reason why it was diluted in the first place is because people fought and died for it; not because people stopped talking about it.
How is it unsubstantiated? Even the local news talks about how

ed up the entire crime is.
The fact that crimes like this still happen says that we aren't as far as people like you may think.
How does it undermine my point? Did I say that I don't see race? Race exists whether you acknowledge it or not and being a member of a certain race has very real effects on people's everyday lives. How is talking about anti-racism and equating your statements with things that privileged white folk are anything close to hypocritical? Are you going with some sort of "what about reverse racism!!11!!" angle? Sorry, but until white people have it as bad as black people because of said black people, that's just a equivalence fallacy on a cosmic scale.
For goodness sake, you act like I'm defending the kid or something when that's not at all the case. I'm not trying to absolve anyone. I definitely think he deserves the death penalty. There's a good chance he will get it since this MS, and we aren't afraid to use it. My point was always about his motives. I still find the whole situation absurd. I can't believe someone would honestly go out and kill someone out of pure racism in this time period in this country. Even if you were that racist, surely you'd have to be on something to attempt it. There's no way he thought he could get away with it unless he was drugged up. I was unaware of the WAPT article, and it certainly casts some doubt on my suspicions. The only other explanation was that he is outright crazy. This whole thing still doesn't add up to me. Portions of police reports are hearsay, btw. That is exactly what it is when you take statements from witnesses. He also might have thought the white power thing was cool because of tv and video games. I knew a kid once who drew swastikas a lot, although he had no real idea what it meant. "Nazis were badass" was all he seemed to gather from COD.
Regardless of what this kid did, that doesn't make this state a racist epicenter. Which, btw, was the whole problem with the slant of this story in the first place. People's opinions obviously changed during the civil rights movement, or else it wouldn't have succeeded. I'm not undermining the work of black people, but it wouldn't have mattered if the whites' opinions didn't change. Think about it: If every white person in the US still carried Civil War era mentalities, wouldn't they have fought and opposed it until the bitter end? In fact, it was the violence seen in this time that made people rally to the cause. I doubt racism will ever be completely eradicated. However, they say ignorance breeds ignorance. Since schools are desegregated, most kids come up in a multiracial environment. Also, with more people receiving tertiary educations now than ever, I'm sure the mindsets of future generations will be changed for the better.
I have tried very hard not to get personal with you, though the same can't said for you. You seem to have a lot of animosity toward both the North and the South. I suppose you don't understand something like taking pride in your home and not wanting people to paint it such a terrible light. Also, I don't know about this reverse racism thing. You're either racist or not, regardless of which racial category you fall under.
With all that's been said, I don't think there's much more we can discuss. We both have our stances, and I reckon we should leave it at that.
