Xbox 360 Towel Trick vs. CheapyD

Sass that hoopy Cheapy D? There's a frood who really knows where his towel is!

Anyway, nice video with only one problem: WHERE THE fuck IS THIS WEEK'S CAGCAST?

Stop making videos and start making CAGCast!

So the point of this video = Red Rings of Death + Towel Wrapping = Free time for washing ass. Sweet! j/p =) Nice vid thx Cheapy
DUDE! Cheapy, why don't you have a Harmony remote? I saw at least one too many remotes and endless to many different button pushes in this video.
He does have a harmony remote, the same one I do (the 360 one). You can see him use it in the video.

Good vid Cheapy. The guys at ScrewAttack.com have a similar video up. If anybody wants to check out their luck with this trick as well, check it out on their front page. Hopefully I'll never have to end up doing this. I'm on my 5th 360 right now.

HAHA, I did the same thing when I toweled mine and got a new update. I released many cuss words and then I realized it came back on.

But, I am glad I watced this video because I didn't know you were supposed to take loose your harddrive and video cables. And I also didn't know you were supposed to let it cool, I just dove right back in. Maybe that is why it only lasted for a day last time.

Another great vid from the Head-CheapAss!! Bravo Cheapy!! :applause:

You should ask Major Nelson to bring you a 360 when you guys meet up for TGS! He mentioned you again on his podcast this week, so maybe he'd help you out.

I think anyone who would need to use a desperate trick like this when MS offers a 3 year warranty has opened their 360, most likely for flashing purposes.

I am one of them!

I am one of them!
CheapyD lives in Japan and has a US 360. I don't think they will send a box to Japan.
The towel trick is okay for a temporary fix, but there is a method to replace the clamps that hold the heatsinks for a more permanent fix.
That video gave me a panic attack. :headache:

Anyway, another lump of Internet gold, Cheapy. You're a master of unintentional comedy, my friend. ;)

My wife and daughter just watched (I had to explain the "wash my ass" bit ). Now they can put a real face to that Cheapy Mii we have wandering around our Mii plaza. They, too, were impressed with your remote control air conditioning.

the reason why your robocop gun went nuts is, your using green gas in a gun, probably overfilled the magazine and left it sitting too long or in too hot of an area. during the winter i usually place them inbetween my hands and rub them so that the gas can expand a bit before firing the gun. when its too cold it can freeze the oring inside of the magazine or destroy the one in the gun. when its too hot the gas expands too rapidly and too much pressure destroys all the gas seals in the magazine and the gun. Espeically when you dry fire the gun like that and on auto.

Interesting video Cheapy. The thought does occur though, why do you just use some of the crazy merchant credit you must be getting from Rockband pre-orders and buy a new american 360 from Amazon.

Oh and you really are a large bald white guy.

CheapyD is a lier.

Look at the towels the second before the paus and then the second after. During the pause he swapped the Xbox 360. Towels+different camera position=proof.

During the second pause he swapped again but this time he took the time to place the replaced Xbox 360 in the right place.

Great video Cheapy! I gotta say my favorite part was your robo cop gun almost exploding. Pretty funny, but i still hope its ok.

isn't this from like 2 years ago? And the theory has been fully explained for awhile.... seemed like a rather pointless video for cheapy fanboys........

Cheapy would have no reason to fake it. My guess is that he just unwrapped it to double check that the 360 was at the correct temperature. Then wrapped it back up and began recording again.

My thoughts exactly. Its easier to double check everything, then it is to record a mess up, and edit it later.

If you listen to a few cagcasts ago he said the first time he plugged it in to try it again he didn't have the AV cables in properly, so he mentioned possibly making an edit with it.

Nice first post by the way, way to join a community.

Posting this has been the highlight of your entire life to date, hasn't it?

Anyone who thinks that the towel trick doesn't work TEMPORARILY doesn't know much of jurryrigging the 360. I have learned of quite a few little tricks from various forums, the only permanent one I've seen is the x clamp fix.

I think we're all done mocking him here. I would like to wait for a Cheapy response, but this looks like it'll drag on frever until everyone put their little witty remark in.

It's like a Jerry Springer show.

Congratulations, you just proved that I touched the 360 during the 25 minutes that it was baking. I didn't realize I wasn't allowed to touch it or move it. I confess, I didn't spend the entire 25 minutes in the bathroom. You got me.

Next time, I'll get some witnesses to sign sworn affidavits about the authenticity of my video.

If you don't mind (or even if you do)...I'm going to merge this with the main thread.

There are tons of videos with people doing the towel trick. Cheapy's friends at ScrewAttack had done a similar video a day or two before he made his video. Does it matter if he's lying or not because the technique still works. =p

What? You didn't?

How disheartening, I remember feeling this same feeling of disappointment when I found out that the police in E.T. were really brandishing guns and not walkie talkies.
