Virtua Fighter 5 for 360 CONFIRMED !!!

according to MarkMan, CAG's fighting game expert with connections, the 360 version will be based on VF5 revision C. AFAIK, the PS3 version will be Revision B. I'm pulling that out of my ass though.

Still-- the PS3 and Lindbergh arcade hardware are more closely related, so I think it's somewhat up in the air with how it will turn out.
So, I decided to go ahead and take the bullet and I pre-ordered 2 of the Virtua Stick High Grade from Play-Asia today since I had a $15 off coupon. Hopefully they will work considering they are USB, hell they might even work on the PS2. If not I'll just pawn them on eBay or something.
Yeah, I'm wondering the same thing. If you look at the replies on that blog page, he says toward the bottom that he's basically assuming they'll be compatible - not very encouraging. I have a pre-order tentatively placed, and I emailed play-asia to see whether they can verify through their suppliers that it would be compatible. Looks like an amazing stick, but I'm disappointed they switched from the pink buttons.

BTW, you can get the stick a little cheaper at NCSX.com - ~96 USD for one. But I went with PA due to the coupon and ease of canceling.
The nice thing though is that Sony is not releasing killzone until they think its so good, it will shatter the genre... so I'm willing to wait if that's true.
I'll save the months of waiting: it wont be.

Either way if it doesn't work with the 360, I should be able to get back and maybe more on eBay.

I saw that it was cheaper on NCSX but I've had problems cancelling orders before with them and some shipping problems as well.

If it doesn't work for you, I think you should be economically sound about it. Wait until VF5 and/or Tekken gets released for the PS3 (is that what the VF sticks are meant to be played on?) so the demand will be higher. I'll probably end up selling my mint played-for-only-10-hour HRAP in the spring since it's just sitting in my closet.

So even though VF5 is a port from PS3, its expected to look better.

The crew over at IGN received an "eyes on" preview of the Xbox 360 version of Virtua Fighter 5 and came away starry eyed impressed. SEGA was eager to show off the ported PS3 game and rightly so, because they went back into the code and polished everything for the 360 version. IGN says that VF5 on the 360 is noticeably prettier, because subtle new effects were added (like morning fog) and the aliasing issues that were so noticeable in the PS3 version have been fixed. And for you arcade diehards, SEGA also mentioned that HORI will be releasing a plain Jane VF5 arcade stick when the game releases.

So, who wants to bet $100 this gets online multiplayer? I always like a good, extremely risky bet :^o

oh silly willy dilly. everyone knows it's happening... oh wait damn... fuck... this isn't the fighter thread... um

pigeon soup?

I'm hoping this means its coming soon. Sega's stance of "sometime this summer" doesn't bode well for me. Too much stuff is coming out from August on and I'm afraid this going to get extremely buried.

I already pre-ordered the stick at Gamestop, mostly for a decent XBLA experience.

jeeves, I do believe you are encroaching upon my most dubious racket.

Actually, while the aliasing (or lack of) on the ps3 was pretty bad, it seems the 360 has lost a lot of detail in the process. Everything looks more plasticky, clay like etc. This might be a Fight Night like phenomenon, or it might just be aliasing. I wouldn't mind seeing things side by side.

Feature wise, I'd still play this on a 360 though

as Rolento said this is probably going to happen :)

....but will it have the lag? the CAG fighting thread d00ds know very well how much lag we get in the games we try to play.

lag on DOA4 is annoying but I can't even imagine the level of frustration with a game like VF5

it'll have plenty of lag as long as it's a peer-to-peer game like DoA or SF3. (that's alright, at least Tekken will be relatively lag-less.)

yeah, the only reason most fighting games are playable on live is because they're fast paced. VF5 with even a normally bearable amount of lag would kill it if you're playing competitively or button mashing, since it's so much slower. Can't even imagine countering and doing command throw combos with Aoi.

Online fighters still have yet to be ok speeds to be competitive. ATM I see it as a good way to improve.
I'll be happy with it just having Live leaderboards. I'm not expecting online multi-player at all.
Industry insider on CAG has already claimed it's going to happen and will happen around the time of E3.

Dude already predicted that Guilty Gear Accent Core would be brought out over here on the PS2 as well as the Wii and has advance versions of games coming out, so I'm inclined to believe him.

sucks the PS3 version is having like a price drop to $39.99 while the 360 will probably still be $59.99 when it comes out.
