Viva Pinata 2 Trouble In Paradise - Gen. Discussion & Info - New Killer Instict Cards

I'm at level 10 and I have yet to get the guy who builds the houses to romance them...I have everything else at this point did all of you get the dude that builds early on?

Also, I was successful at scanning a few cards...not all of them worked as I got the orange bar that I guess means I'm not ready for it or something like that. I did scan a Chewnicorn with my iPhone but I couldn't do any others with the iPhone...also my Chewnicorn died.

Once you scan a card, you can't scan it again in the same game right?

Also does the train move at all? I could have sworn I saw a video with the train moving around the garden?

Does anyone have the famous pinata achievement?

I've had the first pinata since release, never played it. I'm going to purchase "trouble", my question is, should I play through the 1st one or just dive into "trouble"?

Thanks

Is this worth $40? I looooooovvvvvveeeeeeddddd the first one, but I picked it up after the price dropped on it down to the $20 range.

Also, anyone seen it for sale at Blockbuster (coughiocough)?

Just can't find the time. I have a huge back log of games. Probably around 30 or so. Just got 4 more this week. I keep telling myself "this winter I'll play my games", and it just doesn't happen.

"You never thought you'd see it in Pinata Island, but here it is: The 'Hot Coffe Pot'. Psst, don't tell anyone or it will get banned!"

How do I unlock Hot Pinata Coffee?!
Acorns!

If you've never played the first one, there's no reason to now. I don't think it offers anything trouble doesn't, besides a few more annoyances (like menu hell).

you can lay down train track tiles and it will run on them.

I did a search & didn't see this listed.

Went to Target tonight to get Viva Pinata Trouble in Paradise and noticed they have their own "special edition" which includes a "Pinata Party Pack". Inside the game case is 5 Pinata Vision cards, and a download code for a "Candiosity" Viva Pinata TV episode.

Not that amazing, but a neat add on to people who collect Xbox stuff. These might even be in all versions of the game no matter where you go, I'm not sure. And I didn't even open the pack of cards, since all the card scans can be found online.

The "Only At Target" 'sticker' on the front of the case is actually printed on the game insert- it's not a sticker on the case or shrinkwrap. That's the only thing I kinda don't like.

In the future, instead of merging my posts into a giant thread where the post is going to be lost, please simply delete my post.

Target and Viva Pinata seem like an odd pairing given the number of Viva Pinata games I saw clearanced there over the past 6-7 months.

the thing I don't like is I'm missing things out of lottas store apparently. I can't buy a toadstool at all right now. So the only thing I can figure is to beat the hell out of seedos till he drops one so I can then buy it from her. I hate having to rely on him randomly dropping something I need before I can buy it. Its infuriating >_

Hmmm....guess I don't have access to place tracks yet...do you have to place a train station as well?
the choo choo achievement is for having a woo woo train in the garden - you should have that available in the store - just buy it and place it in the garden - very easy achievement.
Hmmm... I bought two trains and put them down and got no cheese. But I think I only did the more "advanced" ones (the woo two and beyond). I'll drop one of those in there and see what happens.

Yes, it's worth $40. And nope, not available at Blockbuster (even for rent as far as I know). When they didn't even have it in the system (let alone on order) the weekend before it came out, I preordered it at Gamestop. I still haven't seen it at BB (though I didn't look through their rentals when I was there Sat night). They definitely didn't have it for sale though.

. I forgot about that. With the infamous $10 coupon people were even getting tons of copies for free (not me - they never went below $14.98 here).

I just put tracks down - made a little loop around my gem tree. The tracks are in the pavement category by the way. Me and my 8 year-old son couldn't figure out where to buy tracks from and my 5 year-old knew where to look right away. That kid is sharp ;). I mean, it makes sense now, but I thought they'd be with the toys since the trains are there and I just figured I didn't have any yet.

I actually saw it for rent (one copy) at GR this morning when I picked up Rock Band 2. Considered renting it, but I know I'll never get around to playing it with RB2 in hand. Rather surprising that the GR had 7 copies of TNA Impact available to rent but only 1 VP2.

io, thanks for the tip on the train tracks...or I should say thank your son for me ;)

Level 16 and I still can't buy homes for the Pinatas...What gives? I'm thinking of deleting all the VPTIP stuff on my HDD and starting fresh.

Hmmm... I noticed on my son's game that he missed one of the tutorial things and didn't get that either. Note that you should have it very early. I think it makes you build one for the Sweetle it has you go to the desert to catch. Did you follow that part of the tutorial? It isn't necessarily obvious that you are actually in a tutorial - you have to follow the red and white circles to trigger the next event (whether in a menu or on a pinata or other object).

BTW Linkin, I sent you a train. Did it come through? I had issues with deliveries in the previous game so I want to make sure it works before I send anything too valuable to anyone ;).

I'm at level 50 and trying to figure out what to do next. I was making color variations but then I realized there is really no point as there doesn't seem to be an achievement attached to it. There is one about restoring all the computer records. I guess that means getting every pinata (which, interestingly enough, was not an achievement in the last game). I suppose I should work towards that. But does restoring the records mean romancing them as well? I can't really tell - it seems I have records for some I have and some I haven't (and others that I have romanced are not in the records...).

I did get 2 Sweetle's, maybe I missed one of their romancing requirements :whistle2:k...I'll have to check later.

I didn't get a notice when I played last night about getting a package...I wonder if I get a notice or if I have to go to the post office and check myself. I'll take a look later this evening...thanks!

I think the computer records thing either has to do with Langston's challenges, or sending Pinatas to parties. I got the first achievement after I did a challenge.

I bought mine at a Gamerush (BB). They only had one copy though.

Yeah. I got the first achievement (10 records restored) but I don't remember what I did at the time. I'll try sending something new to a party both with and without a Langston challenge tonight and see what happens with the Records list.

I have to ask, what is this Viva Pinata about? I heard many great things about the series but never played it......can someone summerize this game, and what type of game is it (RPG, action, etc.) Thanks

Strategy/Sim, in the same genre as games like Spore and The Sims. Starting with a garden, it's up to you to raise, attract, mate, and evolve your pinatas in order to build up your garden's value. Along the way, you'll find that some pinatas get along better with others, and some will attack and eat eachother (pinata food chain - foxes and wolves eat rodents and rabbits, etc.). There's also the asshole sour pinatas that only exist to cause trouble.

The first one was hugely overlooked until it got a pricedrop, and people started getting into it. It's cutesy and looks like a kid's game, which is probably what put people off on it - it's a hell of a lot deeper and more involved than you'd expect. My girlfriend probably put 50 hours into it and still hasn't done all there is to do.

It's based on a very bad Saturday morning cartoon where Pinatas live on an island and then eventually get sent out to parties. The game on the other had was suppost to be aimed at little children who watch the cartoons. What came out was an amazing game that was way past people's expectations. It's basically a gardening sim, if you will. Where you raise Pinatas. They interact and generally look like animals. There's much more depth once you play it though. From what I understand the developers themselves didn't expect it to become so popular. So as a result a sequel was created.

If you aren't sure just check out some screenshots or videos. If your just not feeling it and you think it might be too kiddish for you, chances are your not going to like it.

It is an incest/cannabalism sim with interspecies mating, rampant carnage and really freaky looking people.

Have any CAG's (or kid's of CAG) get their hands on a famous pinata yet? I guess there is this one girl who has one and is helping out people with that achievement, but she doesn't seem to be on often. That famous achievement really would have worked out better virus-like rather than being at the mercy of the few who got them.

I hate games like Animal Crossing and Harvest Moon, but for some reason I loved Viva Pinata.

I will pick Viva Pinata 2 in December or something when I have time to play it.

My Nephew and I are playing the Drop In 2 Player Local Co Op and we were wondering if both players will earn achievements? He is signed in under his own profile but when we played the race game it shows him as Pimpinc33 ( 1 ) and not his name. I'm guessing the way they are handling it is Local Guest Name Co op? Anyone else have an insight on this?

Yeah, only the main person gets the achievement - it even tells you this when you sign in as a second person ;). I think it says that in the blurb that pops up when you connect a second controller. But regardless of that, I can verify that you don't as I helped both my sons and they both got the achievement and I didn't, despite more than a few hours of helping.

This game is really pissing me off at the higher levels. Dessert desert and the pinartic are retarded (shooing away pinatas for five-ten minutes and then watching the ultimate trap fail, rinsing and repeating is not fun) and I can't get any new pinatas to come in to my garden. There are like ten higher level pinatas that I'm meeting the requirements for but all I get are bunnies, foxes and crap like that. I'm at level 78 and I still have to deal with Pester breaking stuff. I gave up on having a mine because he kept breaking it after my dragonache kicked his ass.

Having more pinata species actually seems to be a hinderance for completing the game because the engine can't handle it. It seems like the game was tested under the assumption that you would trade to get all your pinatas versus trying to get them all yourself. It's either that or you'r supposed to waste hours upon hours sitting in your garden waiting for a pinata to come.

I tried scanning cards tonight but my lighting wasn't working. If I can't get stuff to scan in daylight tomorrow I'm done with this game.

I'm about to trade this game in after I get off work...but I just saw this:

Can anyone scan those in right now and let us know what they do?

EDIT:

Fulgore is a yellow juicygoose in a helmet and wind up key on his back
B Orchid is a green moozipan wild card with wiggly antlers
Tusk is a wild card red eliphanilla with a blonde wig horned helmet and wiggly tusks
