VP Debate: Biden vs. Palin... Pt. 2, The Aftermath
Same for that winking. Who the hell does she think she is?
I actually rewound the DVR to bitch about her winking.

Her winking gave me the impression she wasn't serious.

I know Tina Fey is going to be over the top with her caricature this weekend, but Palin gave her ample material.

The point of the debate that annoyed me the most was the "shout out". What is this TRL? The Price is Right?
McCain Tapped Her?
I'm assuming i'm not the only one who laughed when she said "mccain tapped me"

Palin makes John McCain look like a sensible candidate, I think she is a success based on that alone.

Her sentences had so many commas, tense changes and fragments that my brain almost exploded.
I though one of the best examples of this was represented when asked about things that they would have to cut that they had promised. Palin had no freaking clue because it wasn't a question she rehearsed so she gave an ignorant answer of well iv only been doing this 5 weeks I couldnt have promised anything. First off that shows a real lack of thought, experience and that she has no clue WTF to say. She herself admitted after 5 weeks she had no ideas. More importantly though Biden instantly said Foreign Aid, we promised to double the US foreign aid in the Obama/Biden presidecny and I dont think we will have the money for that. He then listed a number of programs he felt were important not to cut.

Its just an absolute joke that anyone can think Palin won that debate. It seems that just because she didnt fall on her face people now think she is credible unless your someone like brolly and then well you would be licking her taint and calling it tasty regardless of what she did.
seriously, lets be real here. you lose all credibility if you think Palin won. i'm watching some television analysts who say she won, and they look like complete idiots.

her performance was terrible. She stuttered, blatantly told us she was going to ask her own questions and answer them, didn't know what she was talking about, and thought a Civil War general was in charge of Afghanistan :headache: repeated the same memorized statements over and over. It was terrible.
Thats Ed Rollins he is in the tank for McCain.
Thanks for clearing that up, I thought it was somehow Marci Rossell.
By merely losing the debate she wins though, because she appeared as though she were able to debate.
which is stupid. what has American politics become? every politician from now on should act like compete morons with brain damage prior to a debate, so expectations are so low that anything will suffice.

Palin sounded better than she has in the past, but Joe Biden sounded better overall. (no surprise given his years on the senate and notoriety for speaking in the senate so well)

But honestly, It would take Obama/Biden declaring their support for NAMBLA or something for most of you guys to even criticize them. It's not like this is a console war, you can actually consider both sides!

But yeah, Palin looked like a douche spouting lines most of the time. Only time she showed real passion and spoke well was on the Iran/Pakistan stuff.

Ermmm most of us have critics Obama. Some of us are flat out pissed at his stances on certain things for instance lilboo is an obvious on the gay marriage front and personally I would love to scream at Obama over his ethanol stance which is just incredibly stupid. Most of us are in the tank for Obama not because we think he is some amazing politician that will change the world but because McCain(face it he isnt the same man he was even just last year) has went off the deep end and Palin has always been swimming there.

I agree with this statement.

Its not that we defend Obama to death, its just that its better then the alternative of McSame.

They both sucked.

Biden: Yeah, we want gays to be able visit each other at hospitals and own homes together...
Palin: I'm tolerant, so I'll say that's fine. But no gay marriage cuz gays aren't really human.
Biden: Wait! We don't want gay marriage either; WE HATE GAYS TOO!
Mod: Great! Looks like you both agree.

Ahh, pandering to the Christians.

I agree also. It's not so much endless praise for Obama as it is disbelief at some of the absurd, ignorant, contradictory, or just plain dumb things that have come out of McCain and Palin. She's full of rhetoric without substance, and he's boasting a reform record that has really supported deregulation and Bush's policies the majority of the time for 8 years. It's deceptive and it's dishonest, and people are eating it up.

Obama at least seems to have his heart and mind in the right place, at least to the degree any politician can. I don't think Obama is the 2nd coming of Christ, but I trust him a helluva lot more to have middle class (you know, people who make less than 5 million) interests truly at heart.

Biden did say Bosniacs. That got a laugh out of me.

I really didn't like Palin's talking down to the people. Joe Six Pack, the shout out? I half expected Ryan Seacrest to come out and give us the number to vote. What is it called when extremely rich, white, conservative people start using the current lingo? Oh yeah, pandering. They don't give two shits about anyone that doesn't contribute to the campaign or the Republican Party.

I like Nader.

I'll accept Obama.

I will be disappointed if McCain is elected.

Just because McCain and Palin look like idiots doesn't mean everyone around here is a raging Democrat.

Bosniacs - awesome. There was some other funny Biden shit too, like when he said he spends a lot of time at Home Depot, but christ, that shout out thing and rambling on about school teachers was painful. At the beginning of the debate they were both essentially just parroting off their political ads at each other, then as they moved away from that Palin was less likely to even answer the question, got increasingly folksy, and said "maverick" way too often. It just became painful to watch maybe about halfway in.

Much like the first presidential debate, I give it to Biden, but only by a hair. They both played their hands very cautiously -- he didn't gaffe and she didn't implode -- but in the end, Biden actually responded to the questions with some substance and Palin either dropped talking points or dodged the subject entirely. Palin probably stopped a bit of the bleeding from the Couric interviews just by being better than god-awful, but that's not enough. Almost nobody in the thread -- on either side -- had their opinions changed by the debate, but there *are* undecided voters out there, and they seem to think Biden won, too, and by that standard, he did. Sorry, thread-haters.

Personally, I think Palin's folksy schtick came off as arrogant. The moment she said, "I may not answer the questions the way you or the moderator want me to ..." I wanted to reach into the screen, backhand her right in the mouth, and yell, "THEN WHY ARE YOU AT A DEBATE, MORON?" Then I watched her deliver stump speech after stump speech and said, "Oh."

Another thing that pisses me off is that she keeps going on about her kids. Don't get me wrong, I don't mind if mothers want to pursue careers and advance as far as they can. My thing is, she has five kids. One kid is about to leave for Iraq. One is pregnant and another has Down's. How many times will we have to delay something because she couldn't find a babysitter? How many times will the Secret Service be fooling around with the kids instead of making sure her ass doesn't get blown away by some crazed terrorist? It's just too much. Her daughter could probaby use alot of help and advice since she's all of 17 and about to become a mother. "Sorry, honey. Ask your father because I'm about to head to Israel." "Can't watch the kid tonight. I've got to go be the tie breaker for an emergency war bill."

I don't think that's a fair comment. You know her husband will either watch after them or they will hire a nanny(probally several). You can be President while having children and not let the Presidency be effected. However I would agree if you said its not fair to your children. Kids should be raised by their parents not nannies and while a single parent can raise children......5 Children 1 of whom is knocked up and 1 of whom has downs.....thats far too much for any single parent to do.

Edit - Hehe thought this was a great quoted from a political pundit. "Yes she passed the debate, but only in the George Bush intelligence test kind of way. By this I mean she only passed because she didnt say anything stupid."
It'd be at most 4 kids, if more than likely 3 kids, not 5.
Yes if you discount the pregnant daugther which in reality should be counted as 3 kids because that family is going to have to take care of her, the baby and the husband. I mean come on your telling me you think that they arnt going to end up having to take care of the pregnant daughter and her baby?

And again having a downs child is a task all in itself. Add in several more children and its a whole nother thing. Again brolly we know your in the tank for McCain but if you really want to support him then keep to rhetoric on taxes or something where you might be able to wage some kind of a debate.....this kid issue is just a lose. You can be president or mother to a gaggle of children not both.

Uh...no, wasn't counting the daughter when saying 4 kids. I was discounting the son who's going over to Iraq.

I know this isn't the politically correct thing to say.

So you don't mind someone with several young children taking on a monumental position in the US government? A woman who's been called Always Late Sarah by people in the state of Alaska? I know it's not fair but do you think the rest of the world is going to play fair the next couple years? What happens when Todd is off doing his snowmobile race? Also, you realize that we'll have to pay for the Secret Service to vette any of the nannies. Background checks and all that will have to be done on our dime.

I used to work with a lot of women when I worked in hospitals. The ones with small children were always the last to show up and the first to leave. They always showed up haggard and almost always bitched about doing the work assigned to them. This probably won't be Palin but I've had nothing but bad experiences with working moms. It's not a politically correct statement, but I don't think a mother of small children should be in such an important role.
Uh...no, wasn't counting the daughter when saying 4 kids. I was discounting the son who's going over to Iraq.
Then why say more then likely 3. Again including the daughter and adding in her baby your numbers are back up. And again like I said I wouldnt be suprised if the boyfriend....excuse me husband(LOL!)ends up having to live with them too which then means yet another person....and that would be double fucking duty because you have to keep him from pumping out more little chitlins.

Then again I wouldn't be surprised if Palin buys them a house and sets them up and just lets them do the only thing Alaskans have to do...ya you know what im referring to.

If your referring to me your talking to the wrong person. Im the one that created a topic saying that people with kids should have their tax privileges revoked. In general I think kids fuck up peoples lives and people with kids are as you said more moody and irresponsible. Iv only known 1 person ever that truly loved his kids in the way your supposed to and did what you were supposed to. People have children far too early then resent their kids and act like dicks to those around them. Note - While this probably sounds like im against kids that's not the case im against parents. I would love to work at a day care but know a guy like me would never be accepted there. And I plan to foster children 1 day(might have 1 of my own but in general am against it).

As I said I think she can do the job of President, or she can be a mother but she cant do both at once. With a kid or two ya you can probably but 5 kids 1 of which has downs and 1 that's pregnant its impossible.

You guys are forgetting their family is worth over a million already. Palin probably has had them cared for by surrogates their whole lives.
In general I think kids fuck up peoples lives and people with kids are as you said more moody and irresponsible.
seriously? i mean... seriously?
You guys are forgetting their family is worth over a million already. Palin probably has had them cared for by surrogates their whole lives.
Im not forgetting, if you read my posts I suggested a nanny. Like I said you can be President or a mother not both. If you choose to be President then your going to have to face the fact that your children wont be raised by you.
seriously? i mean... seriously?
Yes. Iv seen far to many people have kids and their moods swing. At first its incredibly happy but as time goes on you can just see the kids wear on them. I think a big part of the problem though is that people have kids too early. I think that if people wait till they are around 30 its less likely that you will resent your kids and have an attitude because you will both have experienced a good bit of life but second you will have had a chance to raise some funds which we all know are needed to raise kids.

I think people with kids dont even realize they do it, and most parents probably doing see it in other parents....but I sincerely believe this. My parents resented me and my brother, I actually heard a few times from my mom about where she might have been in life if she wouldn't have had us. And iv heard and seen similar things from other parents and gotten very good at recognizing the underlying symptoms.

Another way to put it is look at the number of people that get divorced. When you get married your entering into a commitment to not walk away from that person yet like 50% of people do at some point in their lives now. So if people are willing to make that commitment and walk away from it is it not within reason to assume that people probably have kids without really giving it enough thought. Difference is you cant walk away from kids. But you can resent the shit out of them and let them make you a bitter person!
Yeah but isn't that always the case for presidential spawn?
Probably, but it doesn't mean we should except it. And in Palins case its to a much larger extreme. Again she doesn't have spawn she has a fucking brood.....hell her brood are having spawn now!

How did we get on the topic of Palin's kids in the white house?

Personally I could give a shit less about her stupid kids, and how moronic they are.
If that's really true, you are likely one of the finest examples.
*tickles thrust*

Wow iv really gotten under your skin huh? I mean seriously you downright act like you hate me now.

Dont worry ill send lilboo by in a bit to "release your stress" hon. Heh
Magus I think you just confuse people because you go from zero to crazy within a few posts once you get excited.
Well the main reason he confuses people is he is known not to read most people's entire posts. Just the first few lines. So he tends to repeat himself quite a bit, and fail to answer or acknowledge points brought up.

In other words, he's the equivalent of the kid running around class with his fingers in his ears screaming what he thinks about everything at the moment.

To be fair to him, he's posted before that he has a disability and doesn't work etc. No idea if it's a physical or mental problem though. But in any case I just don't pay a lot of attention to him and don't go as hard on him as I do others here.

I brought it up because for me it's a valid point about her inability to lead.

maybe it was just me, but it was impressive that Biden actually said that Ahmedijenad is not the leader of Iran. Which every other person in the political sphere seems to forget.

Good looking out, Ikohn. I did like that he brought up the theocracy and the fact that they control the security apparatus and military.

Wife just pointed this out.. Bosniaks is a proper way of saying bosnians, and how its said in the French media..

The Bosniaks or Bosniacs[25] (Bosnian: Bošnjak, pl: Bošnjaci, IPA: [bɔ'ʃɲaːt͡si]) are a South Slavic people, living mainly in Bosnia and Herzegovina ("Bosnia") and the Sandžak region of Serbia and Montenegro, with a smaller autochthonous population also present in Croatia, Kosovo and the Republic of Macedonia. Bosniaks are typically characterized by their tie to the Bosnian historical region, traditional adherence to Islam, and common culture and language.
In the English-speaking world, Bosniaks are most commonly known as Bosnian Muslims, although Bosniaks make up 48% of the population while only 40% of the population (of B&H) is Muslim.[26] The term "Bosnians", also used interchangeably, can also be used to denote all inhabitants of Bosnia regardless of ethnic origin (i.e. not only Bosniaks, but also Bosnian Serbs, Bosnian Croats or any other group in the country).[27]

I originally thought it was gaff by Biden.. but I guess not.

He wasn't talking about religious groups though. Didn't he say Serbs, Croats, and Bosniaks? Shouldn't it be Bosnians in that context?
