I had the same problem that none of the UPCs worked for the promotion. Luckily the manager was there, what she did was do all the trade in as normal and then manually override the extra 50%. It took an hour but I walked out with a $278.xx giftcard, returned madden on my way out too.
Wait, you got a $278 GC? I thought the cap was $250 per transaction?

SCORE!!!!! Tradein 5 game no issue took less than 15min

Grand theft auto 5 ps3 42.08

Cod ghost ps4 39.78

Diablo 3 ps3 18.36

Tlou ps3 19.64

Mk8 wii u 58.91

All after 50% bonus

Total 178.76

Make sure to tell cs to enter no zero and take out the last digit from the madden upc code and it will work

It is with the trade in, which came up to $186. The manager did an override to add the extra 50% which bumped it up to $278
Hmm that's really strange because last time around they did the pre-order 50% promo, the system would cut-off the trade-ins entered after $250 was reached AFTER bonus calculation, so the maximum pre bonus was $165-170ish. Maybe the manager override had something to do with it or they changed the system?

nice.

Lolz @ people actually trying to do trade-ins at a Walmart store.
Why not? The last time they did this with the Madden 15 pre-orders was VERY lucrative for me and not very painful at all (other than most stores not having Madden 15 pre-order cards). Not everyone that trades games in at Walmart has a nightmare experience.

Yes a paper gift card. Their system wasn't printing the barcode at my walmart so they had to manually give me a plastic GC.
Oh god someone tell me this isn't system-wide? My store is having difficulty printing the barcodes for trade-in gift cards too. Makes it so we have to frigging enter the card manually...

Maybe not everyone, but it's pretty damn close.

You have to consider the circumstances here. As with people who write reviews for products they've purchased, they are more likely to speak up about their experience if that experience was a negative one. There are LOTS of those in this thread and people are saying some ridiculous-but-true things but I don't think they are the majority but rather a vocal minority.

Some wise guru once said, "Don't knock it till you tried it!" :)

I did a trade in yesterday and had the same problem. They only have one CPU and it's very old. First I had to track down the wireless lady, she was getting carts outside. Then it took her 3 tries cuz the first 2 froze. Then it prints out my paper but I didn't realize no barcode till I was checking out.

All in all it took over 2 hours. They couldn't figure out how to use it without a barcode.

guess im lucky it always takes my walmart 5 minutes im always in and out just returned it at customer service on the way out.

As long as the 16-digit gift card code and the 4-digit PIN are legible, you should be able to turn it into a physical gift card. It will probably require a CSM's turn of the key to get it done but it's doable.
Ya i used it in store and they entered it manually and it required CSM override with key.

Well that wasn't fun, but I paid nothing out of pocket for Madden.  After the electronics guy didn't have a clue, and wouldn't let me take the game to the front desk, I asked him to escort me there.  A woman started helping me, and he just stood there... for like a really long time for no reason after I told him thanks.  Quite uncomfortable.  The lady then acted like I was nuts when I mentioned the 50% promo and I offered to show her the ad.  She said no, we don't do that kind of stuff here but we do take game trades.... Excuse me??  You don't honor your store ad??

At this point I'm getting frustrated, but she goes to scan the 1st trade and a message came up asking if I was trading for Madden.  This automatically applied the bonus and all was going very smoothly, but as a few others mentioned, the barcode didn't print out on the e-card, only the PIN.  After several employees tried to find a solution, the manager finally offered me a customer satisfaction credit for $59.99 + tax and said they would figure it out later.  It's a good day to be a CAG! :D/

Welcome to Wal-Mart. It's a fucking battle getting any of them to honor the pricing they have on sodas and food IN THAT VERY STORE..... let alone their ad. How you people are pulling crap like this off is beyond me.

Once the Walmart employee gets past their own ignorance and just follows the computer's prompts, it's typically smooth sailing. Except for this whole no barcode thing, that makes the waters a little choppy.

Take a copy of Walmart's price match policy in with you next time, sometimes their employees could use the refresher...

It's Walmart employee policy to be ignorant of employee and store policies. You didn't know that? Where the hell do you think you are? Target?

Pleasant experience here. Only hiccup was bar code didn't print, but only added 2 minutes additional as they just had to type in the code twice(system requires it) and get the manager override. $77 trade in for Madden 25 XO, Ghosts PS3, and Monster Hunter 3 3ds, and Ultimate edition Madden free with $2 left on a piece of paper.

I am about to go to WM, can someone tell me the UPC code that worked for them, since the original UPC doesn't work from what I am hearing.

I have the UPC for Madden 15 (PS4) as 014633367836, how many zeroes should I add or subtract? lol my WM is clueless to trade-ins, I have to walk them through the process every time.

Well today I did get the deal after much waiting and trying to find anyone who could do the promotion. 35 minutes in I finally got the guy who was selling an I phone  forever. He  put my Black Ops II in for 360 $34.29 !!! then I used my credit from the other day and I was out after almost an hour, it was mostly waiting for the other non busy employees to get a clue. But hey BO2 worth almost 35$ damn !!!

Just bring the game you are trading in up to register and ask for Madden 15 PS4 they will scan the UPC from the game.

Oh I see, I didn't realize they do it all in one transaction, I thought you just bring them your receipt showing you purchased Madden. Much appreciated sir!

I had to take off the first and last digit from the XBone UPC on the package for it to work

everything went good for me,altough I havent tried to return the game yet but I dont see why that would be any hassle, got $103 for MK8 and ufc

Anyone who did the 50% at walmart before and still has the preorder cards make sure to register the code at zreward.com.  They sent the pre-order bonus for both cards to my email today and I turned the pre-order cards into a walmart gift card a month ago and bought the game at Bestbuy.

Yeah so that's a huge bitch. So for example the gift card doesn't print right and under where the barcode SHOULD be (it's a empty image symbol, the X in two boxes) there's a long number like 874586227890006096692404533690. The gift card number comes after those 3 zeroes so it would be 6096692404533690. Then the PIN is next to the dollar amount at the top of the card.

Do yourself (and the walmart employees) a favor and buy a physical giftcard from www.walmart.com with that paper one. Or have them make it into a physical one in-store using the information I've provided.

It's not common Walmart employee knowledge unfortunately. I JUST figured it out after remembering something a CSM told me last holiday season when we had a similar issue.

Traded: :ps4: Pinball $20 :360: and :ps3: CoD Ghosts $19 :xb1: Madden 25 $38 and :xb1: CoD Ghosts $35

Grand total: $134, spent about $25 on all the games. Also returned Madden immediately, with not much of a problem, would have been quicker if Walmart hired some more knowledgeable workers, but it's not the big of a deal.

Ok, so not every Walmart within a 10 mile area has the same trade in system.  I encountered all of them and finally found the holy grail.  Not only was the employee competent, he was a godsend after all the shit I had to deal with.

The original Walmart that I tried to use was cool but there system kept jamming up and they had to start all over again and again and again and again.  I finally called game over on them and thanked them for all their efforts but insisted that they push for an upgrade to their trade in hardware.

The next Walmart I went to was on my way home and they had no problem but their system will not allow me to redeem trades past the Madden price.  So as soon as they input my 2nd game, I was already throwing up an error for them to retreat.  I asked them to charge me for multiple games to balance out the trades to buys and I told them I have every intention of returning all of these "bought" games as soon as we were through.  Walmart rep then proceeded to explain that their store only allows game exchanges and not returns even on sealed games.  I told her thank you but you can go fuck a goat.

The next Walmart was closer to home but not my Home walmart.  I didn't want to go to my Home walmart because their trade in system was very similar to the original Walmart I dealt with today.  So, anyway, I went into this walmart, met the rep and explained what I wanted to do.  He said that it is not a problem but I can only buy games with the credit and I have to spend it immediately.  I told him that I intended to return all the games right afterwards and he said, "its your games, you have your receipt and can do anything you want with it."  He did 2 transactions for me and even got the games to closely match each transaction.  I paid the small differences with my credit card and after he manually typed out each gift card number, because I also didn't get the bar code printed out, I thanked him, got his name and will be positively reviewing him soon.  I went up to the customer service desk and got my first $250ish games refunded with about $20 back on my visa.  The next $150 was also refunded but the girl that did it mistakenly had me swipe my visa first and I got all the credit put back onto my visa card.  She essentially paid a portion of my visa card with about $150 of Walmart credit.  I looked at her and she said, have a nice day.

So all in all, I hate trading in to Walmart, but now I have grocery money for the month and a portion of my visa credit card paid off...cost was about $115 and too much of my time...

Can you list the process for converting the barcode-less e gift card on to a physical one?

for example:

1: scan physical gift card

2: select add funds

3: type in gift card number (like you described above)

4: ...........???

I am pretty frustrated I just realized as I did my 3rd trade in today that ALL 3 did not get a barcode. This was at 2 separate stores too. Since I noticed on my last one that I didn't get the barcode, we were trying to figure out how to transfer it to a card but had no luck. I even talked to the store manager. We did confirm typing in the whole number two times worked, but that is a HUGE PIA!!!!!

Now for the good flips: (base values are from memory and approximations)

Madden 25 for X1 $25 base (ps4 base is like 10!!)

MK8 wiiu $40 base

Donkey Kong TF ($33 base) <---best buy deal of day for 31 w/gcu

watch dogs (last gen) $33 base

mlb show ps3 $40 base <-------- easy best buy boomerang (after you buy 3 w/ gcu do not scan rewards card, just buy for $40 without)

Another Florida horror story??

Guys, do I have an idea here. So I plan on using this 50% trade in for TLOUS Remastered, and getting a total of 45.09 (30.06 before the 50%) toward Madden, paying off the difference.

Then, according to GameStop's site:
2cy1v1j.jpg

Which means I would get $40 base, then trading it on the 31st with my 50% summer sale, I would get $60 in full for Madden, thus paying off my Destiny and having a free rental of Madden for a few days. Gotta confirm the details but I'm gonna do all the necessary calls tomorrow, so I'll let you guys know

you can't combine promos at gamestop. The base value for madden 15 is (I don't know but its not 40). If you have a 50% trade in coupon you will get that off of the base value.

If base value + 50% is less than $40 for madden, it will automatically give you $40 for it instead because it will give you the better promo of the two

2 hours of the most painstaking experience for me at WM, but I was able to come out with a little over $900 in WM credit, had to buy 4 copies of Madden but returned them all before leaving

Yeah so here's what they would do at the physical store:

1. Scan a new (unused) physical gift card. It will ask "New gift card? 1- Yes 2- No"

2. They hit Yes and it asks for an amount. They enter the exact amount you have on your e-giftcard

3. They hit "Total".

4. For payment, they choose gift/store card. It will ask them to swipe card/enter account number.

5. They enter the numbers that follow the 3 zeroes under where the barcode should have printed out (this should be the last 16 digits)

This is where I forget... bear with me.

6. If entered correctly, it will then ask for the PIN(?) they then enter the pin.

OR (if that doesn't work)

6. It doesn't ask for PIN then I believe you have to add the PIN onto the end of account number.

7. From there the transaction should go right through since the e-giftcard had enough $ on it to cover the cost of the plastic one.

8. You now have a nice plastic gift card with the balance of your shitty e-giftcard on it!

Just as a note - there may be issues if you do this in-store. Most cashiers/CSMs won't allow you to exchange a gift card for another gift card. In this case I would argue there is an exception, because the Walmart trade-in system didn't work correctly (didn't print the f'ing barcode) and you shouldn't have to be inconvenienced by that fact.

I have made the e-gift cards from the trade-in promo into physical plastic ones before, so it is absolutely doable. The only thing that matters is how intelligent the cashier is, and how well you can communicate what happened & what you need them to do.

If you have to, ask to speak to someone who would know. Don't just ask "Can I speak to your manager?" because some of them aren't going to be any help either. Usually there's 1-2 good CSMs and maybe a good manager in my store at any given time. Sometimes there are none, which is why I take it upon myself to learn f'ing everything.

Damn, you can use the credit on games? I need a 2nd PS4 controller because plan to keep the game and want to play it with my family offline. Can anyone else confirm this?! I've added game credit e-gift cards to my account on Wal-Mart.com and bought non-gaming through the site, store-pick up & via site to store in the past. If I can't buy a controller with the bonus credit F-it.

That only applies in florida where pawn laws suck.

Oops I meant to say "you can 'only' use the credit on games?" Thanks for clarying Darby. I need a controller anyway for other games too. Sorry for you guys and gals in Florida, that's policy sucks donkey!
