Walmart Clearance (PS3 games)- Probably Extremely YMMV

This is my first deal post and I didn't see a Walmart thread in any of the recent pages but I went to a Walmart in Amarillo, TX yesterday not expecting to find anything but it turns out they hadcrazy clearance prices on a number of ps3 titles. Most were marked down from $30-50 to $5 or $10. I picked up Dead Island (goty) and tekken hybrid for $5 each, and FF-13, Asura's Wrath, and Dark souls for $10 each. They had a number of others titles like Sorcery for $5 and SSX for $10 plus other pretty recent and good games. The clerk said they were clearing out for the fall release schedule. I don't know if it is just this store or if its regional but anyone in the area should check it out.

Extremely jealous. Mine would never do this. Mine will occasionally drop a game by $5 off MSRP after a year. Whoever runs electronics department in mine loves to alternate product every week in the cases hoping that will get it to sell. Because I notice aside from recent releases that all the other games are in the cases for a week and then removed for other games and then come back 3 weeks later. Even the giant cheap bin is just filled with crap marked at $40 or higher and half of that stuff has been opened and stolen haha.
 
Just got back from WM. Surprisingly enough I found a lot of stuff on sale and on clearance, but the nicer things were scarce.
Most of everything in clearance for $5 were sports games like Madden and Rock Band games.

There were still a few good finds. Not as good at OP's but decent.


Dark Souls was at $20. - Sold out when I got there.

Nyko Family Charge Station for PS Move (quad charger) - $10
Nyko Charge Base for 2 PS3 controllers - $15

(Figures I find stuff on sale when I'm broke... )

Yeah, original version should be 20, GOTY 30.
 
I stopped by my Wal-Mart today and saw Dead Island GOTY was marked on sale from $29.99 to $19.99. When the cashier rang it up it came up as regular price but he said, "Hey that's not right!!!" And gave it to me for $19.99! :D

LOL, that's what happened to me, but I'm the cashier. You don't happen to have a wife that emptied your bank account, do you? Because that is what my customer said when he tried to buy a toy on a separate receipt.

Ahh Palm Desert...brings back such fond memories!!

Just over 11 years ago a (former) co-worker and I got a pair of escorts (er call girls) for $4500 for the both at a company trip there . Good times...:applause::hot:

Of course that was pre-CAG days... The CAG way would have been to try to PM to cheaper agencies, try to get the girls to take a coupon or try to get a 3rd in a B2G1 deal...man times sure have changed.. fuck:cold:

Talk about a subject change on the drop of a dime..lol. Totally lost me the first read through...had to re-read it. Maybe the Crown Royal is starting to kick in on my skillz.

BTW, anybody paying over 4G for "escorts" has to be a hard up, ugly mo-fos. lol

Not really clearance but I thought it was a good deal: Got Walmart to pricematch Gamestop which has Arkham City GOTY for $39.99. So I got it for that price and of course the Walmart version comes with Gotham City Imposters.
 
My walmart has 100 copies of the burger king games and the naked brothers band game for PS2. It's been like that forever.

It's worth checking your local Walmart if you're in the area. This same thing happened to me, in Winston Salem, NC where I never luck out on any deals ever.

I walked into Walmart one night and found Tekken Hybrid (when it first came out), the God of War collection, LA Noire Complete Edition, and a bunch of other fairly new PS3 games all for $10 each. No other Walmart had them for this price, and it was really awesome to stumble on it.

Those prices are just ridiculous! That's a damn gold mine. I would have bought at least 3 games for myself and probably 3-5 to to sell to others. Damn, that's like striking gaming oil. Almost as good as that guy who somehow got all those PS+ subscriptions and sold them.
 
THY PRICES ART INSANE! Well, SSX is overpriced considering I spent $9.99 on my copy at Best Buy, but the rest of the prices are awesomely low.

My Walmart has a clearance shelf of games, including like 50 copies of ACDC Rock Band and Assassins Creed 2, but all the games ring up as $20. Even old Pixar games for kids. Ugh.

No idea. They don't look used, but I don't know how they got them. Just weird seeing a shit ton of copies of Sneak King and Big Bumpin' inside of what almost represents a trash bin in walmart.

Picked up Dead Island GOTY edition. It rang up $29.96, but the tag said $19.98. THey sold it to me for the cheaper price, but removed the tag, because they didn't know what to make of it. I'm glad I got it, but it sucks that nobody else will get it for the cheaper price because of the dumb cashiers.
 
There is a Wal-Mart in Duncanville or Lancaster, TX that has a bunch of the AC/DC Bundles that come with the T-Shirts for like $5 or $6. Can't remember which one it was though. So if you live in the are you might want to check...if you're into AC/DC haha!
 
Nothing at my Walmart. I did see a copy of ps3 NCAA basketball 10 but I didn't bother asking the worker for a price check. It had a price sticker below it for 40 dollars.
 
That is quite an odd occurance. I work at a Walmart electronics in Virginia & we've never had markdowns like that. The exception being ACDC for $5. Hell we still have Madden 05s for the PS2 for $15. That's about as low as they go. Those games are all ridiculously new to have a markdown of even $10-$20, let alone $40. I'm betting it was a major error that got corrected pretty soon.

It's definitely the right price. I'm guessing the same thing happened there that happened in my store. I was off when the GOTY was released & the non-gamers I work with probably assumed it was the regular edition considering the cover is VERY similar with a quick glance. I noticed it Wednesday that it was in the wrong spot & quickly corrected it.
 
My Walmart has a :ps3:Call of Duty Black OPs PE in a badly crushed box that has been sitting on the clearance shelf for over a year that is $148.XX. Lol

no offense op... but i think the original post is photoshopped (that is a program that lets you alter pictures). because i checked my walmart here in maryland and they didnt have the games....w ell they did that was a lie but they werent at those prices... i asked them about it and they thought i was idiot becus they were like 4x that price....good trick tho u fooled me lol :cool:

Basically every thread should start with this..... Actually, every day I wake up I am going to read this and thank my parents for everything they did for me and realize there are other parents that allow stuff like the above to happen.

When I was in a Walmart near Charlotte I saw the same thing and almost bought it for $20

Target clearance is by store an not technically universal. If the have a lot of backstock they tend to clearance it but really it depends on the pricing team leader and the store manager on how low some things can go before they decide to salvage it
 
I havnt found any in the DFW area for these prices. I have a friend that works night shift so if it happens she is supposed to snatch them all up hahaha. But seems like that store might have very little space for inv. so instead of sending back to the distribution center it must clear them out. But the odd thing is why only ps3.....maybe they just dont sell any or maybe an employee was being dumb haha.
 
Didn't even bother looking for this YMMV stuff but did find Twisted Metal Black for PS2 $20 sold & it was in tax free DE.

You do realize you are making two entirely different statements, right?

Yes, Target stores can independently clearance stock items. But when a large clearance event happens, you will see the same items clearanced at all stores perhaps 85% of the time. This is based off lots and lots of personal observations.

W-M, on the other hand, is entirely store-by-store. I have 7 stores within 10 miles of me, and seeing the same item clearanced at more than one store is extremely rare.

Salvage is a different matter, since that happens after clearance. :)
 
Went to my local walmart in CT, not a single one of these was on clearance.

I wish you could have walmarts across the country PM each other on this stuff :whistle2:/
