Yeah it's a seriously good deal actually. You can get a Wii U Deluxe (includes Nintendoland + other extras) in addition to New Super Mario Bros U (there are others to choose from) combined with an off-brand Wiimote for $369. BUT you can substitute a $50 Wii U Pro Controller for the Wiimote, for only $25 extra. The best part about the deal is you can substitute the ZombiU Bundle Wii U Deluxe (includes Nintendoland, ZombiU, Wii U Pro Controller + other extras) for the normal Wii U Deluxe, for only $30 extra.

So really, you could get the ZombiU Bundle which includes Nintendoland, ZombiU and a Wii U Pro Controller, in addition to New Super Mario Bros U, in addition to a SECOND Wii U Pro Controller, all for $424. That's a serious steal. If I didn't already own a launch day Wii U, this would DEFINITELY be the deal I'd be jumping on.

If there were any games I wanted on it outside of Pikmin 3 and Bayonetta 2 I would definitely be considering this. That's PS4 money though and while Nintendo titles are great those are few and far between, never drop in price and there's little to nothing else on it or coming.

there should be one of those check points for posting deal when you're a CAG in Training.  Like right before it gets posted it should ask, "is this really a deal or are you asking a question?"

I just picked one up and thought it was a good deal.  It's hands down the best deal for a Wii U on the market now.  I got the Zombie U set (comes with Zombie U, 32GB Wii U, Nintendo Land, AND the $50 pro controller.  I picked Mario U for my game, and I added on another Pro Controller for $25, a savings of 50% for that one.  In the end I got 3 games, the deluxe system, and TWO pro controllers for $424.  Shopping cheapest prices elsewhere for everything I got, I saved over $75 dollars.  Hell, just the Zombie U bundle alone retails for $400-$410 I think.  Got another controller and Mario for $24 extra.

No kidding. That is almost as much as much as a PS4 with tax. I love Nintendo but I can't buy a last generation console at this time with the new consoles coming out. It is really too bad because I love Nintendo. I grew up with Nintendo and I would probably buy a Wii U just to play the new Zelda game, but I am very disappointed that the Wii only had 2 Zelda's the entire time it was out. I don't understand how Nintendo is so out of touch with reality. I guess somethings can't last forever.

its a shit deal, there is absolutely no reason to buy it at that price right now.  Blackfriday is coming up and I think Nintendo is almost certain to have to cut the price out of desperation this holiday season to stem the bleeding as the Xbone and ps4 will be released as well.

TLDR DONT BUY.

Are people buying the Wii U? What is there that is worth playing at this time?
ZombiiU is great, people bashing it are people that haven't even played the dang game, it makes PERFECT use of the tablet and the whole "Game doesn't pause when you are in a menu" thing adds to the experience, it has its "Oh damn, oh damn" moments.
MH3U is freaking AMAZING, and I am SOOOOO glad I got it.
There is Pikmin 3 which is also very very fun! It can be played directly on the tablet, as can MH3U, so it is a great game while in a lobby of a 360 game, or etc, or if you just wanna lay down and play something.
Oh did I forget it is backwards compatible? So yeah I finally was able to pick up all those Wii titles I had missed out on before, and after some digging I have built myself a very decent Library. Skyward Sword, Xenoblade Chronicles, Metroid Trilogy, The Last Story, Arc Rise Fantasia, Rune Factory Frontier, Silent Hill Shattered Memories, Pikmin 2 (wasn't gonna drop $40+ for a GC copy), Kirby 20th Anniversary Collection.
While there are tons of games for the Wii, but only a few for the U, the Wii U definitely has a pretty strong library at the moment if you take it into account.

no not really... the wii u right now has NO games and its got a pathetic library and there isnt any way to spin it otherwise.

Anyone with any interest remotely in the wii library of games would have picked up a wii by now.  Even I have a wii though I never play it.

There is not a single reason to pick up a wii u if you consider library and cost right now vs what it will be during the holiday season.

I actually tried Zombie U and thought it was super fun but not a console seller.
MH3U ... upgraded wii version no thanks. I feel a little bit ripped off.
Pikmin 3, Never really liked 1 and didnt get around to 2.
Backwards compatibility is nice, but I played the games I wanted to play on the Wii.

I want a WIi U. I want it to be good. I want to love it. Has my worst nightmare come true? Have I outgrown Nintendo?

Now if only the Wii U was actually worth $424.
Keep in mind this is for two extra games and two pro controllers. That is a a huge savings.

Wii U Deluxe $350 (lowest price)

Super Mario Brothers U - $45 (lowest price)

Zombie U - $25 (lowest price)

2x Pro Controllers ($45 lowest price EACH = $90 total)

$424 sounds a hella lot better that $500. Keep in mind that $500 is lowest prices too on the games, both those games retail for $60, so at full price for everything you can bump that $500 up $560.

When you break it down, basically all you get is an extra pro-controller free (compared to the bundle MSRP price). You pay for everything else. Hardly a "serious steal" when you are paying MSRP for everything.

The general feeling is that the Wii-U is a gross failure in the market, and needs a dramatic price cut. So for anyone that's waited for the past year, a "free controller" shouldn't even come close to moving the needle. $249 holiday bundle is my magic price point, although an argument can be made that the MSRP should be permanently dropped to $249...

It should be. Considering the PS3 and the 360 both have base-line models for $200. The next gen systems are priced $400 and $500.

So in reality the msrp for the Wii U should have been around $250 for basic, $300 for Deluxe.

But at this point, now only $250 for deluxe would be acceptable.

Pikmin 3 is fun, but not extremely long or filled with a lot of bonus stuff (probably why you never hear much talk about it).

Monster Hunter 3 U has some good graphics, online and 3DS cross play.

Super Mario Bros. U is your standard Mario fun.

Luigi U a little different than Mario and is basically a redesigned version of Mario U to be more difficult.

Nintendoland is a bunch of Nintendo themed mini games that can be fun with a group of people. Though some games are even fun on your own.

Wonderful 101 (which is coming out soon) just got a demo and was an interesting game. I wouldn't call it a system seller by any right, but it offers something unique / extra to do.

Rayman Legends despite being ported to other consoles, this game is said to have the best / true experience on the Wii U. I suspect the Vita version will be the same, but hard to say on that one.

Don't forget that there are several great sounding games in the future.

Mario and Pikmin is all I see talked about.

Actually, I see the talk about Pikmin much less compared to before it released.
Well most people don't talk about ports. I mean, who is going to be won over by Mario power up / costumes in Tekken Tag Tourny 2, tablet perks in ME 3 / Darksiders 2 / Batman, or silly mini games in Nintendoland? We also see a lot of people bogged down by half assed ports / multiplats, like Injustice (No DLC for quite a while) and Batman Origin was said to lack online on the Wii U.

ZombiiU is great, people bashing it are people that haven't even played the dang game, it makes PERFECT use of the tablet and the whole "Game doesn't pause when you are in a menu" thing adds to the experience, it has its "Oh damn, oh damn" moments.

Most games can be played on the tablet, since that is the main selling point. The only exceptions are games that seem to directly require play from both of them, though even the wonderful 101 had that ability.

Considering you can easily buy a Wii for under $100 dollars... I wouldn't say that really is a selling point to get one.

Give me ONE SHRED of evidence of that, I have been hearing "Will have a price drop within months" since it's release. Nothing yet...

trolls like to talk a lot of shit about the wiiu. you just gotta ignore their "predictions" and general asshattery.

Wii U is GOOD.  Kinda sad alot publisher trying kill the WiiU & lazy put more times on the Wii U Pad make uniquie  game control.  Now if Wii U dropping the Price down $249.99 Deluxe Bundle with Zelda Wind Walker HD or Pikmin 3 or New Mario Bro, instead 32 GIGs pump it up at least 72s GIG to compete with Monster (PS4/X1). Normal Wii U dropping $199.99 with 32 GIGs.  I sure Ninintend will do very good this holiday season or R.I.P like Gamecube.

Still no Wii U Yet! But Can't pass out good Cheap Wii U Games!

1. Skylanders Giants Starter Kit  (Under $2.00 Thanks to target deal)

2. Tank Tank Tank $0.00

3. Call of Duty Black Ops 2 $20

4. Assassin's Creed 3 $4 (Like New)  (Thanks to Blockbusters BOGO Free for $20 Trade-in Just Dance at BB for $18 Credit)

5. ZombiU $4 (Like New) (Thanks to Blockbusters BOGO Free for $20 Trade-in Just Dance at BB for $18 Credit)

6. Batman: Arkam City Armored Under $15

8. Warriors Orochi $21

9. Tekken Tag 2 $18

10. New Super Bro. U (LN) $$10 (Thanks to Blockbusters BOGO Free $32 Trade-in Kirby Collection at Amazon for $23 Credit)

I thought that the Wii U was going to have a price drop this Christmas but as it turns out - it's highly unlikely. Nintendo promised investors that they'll earn profits in 2013. They promised Wii U early adopters that they wouldn't lower the prices early. And most importantly, Nintendo is completely out of touch. The head of the company doesn't understand what's happening and frankly shouldn't be in the position if he has this bad of a business sense.

http://wiiudaily.com/2013/08/iwata-on-poor-wii-u-sales/

“If the price is actually an issue [with Wii U], then there is some contradiction between the current sales balance between the Basic and Premium versions of the Wii U. The basic version should have sold a lot, but the fact of the matter is that people are buying more of the premium version. So the issue is not there.”
The reason the Basic is a failure is because people don't buy a new console without a game and the premium cost $10 less than the basic + a game at launch and it came with additional "goodies".

So no, there won't be a price drop and at only $50 less than the PS4, this console will continue with poor sales. Next year there will probably be a $100 cut.

Keep in mind this is for two extra games and two pro controllers. That is a a huge savings.

i dont know where you shop, but those arent CAG prices.

There may or may not be a price drop, but if there is one I wouldn't expect it to be more than $50.  Many retailers have been giving away a $50 gift card or game if you buy a Wii U, so I don't see value in waiting for a price drop this year.  I would say get it now or wait until sometime in 2014 when there may be a more significant price drop of at least $100.

3DS got an $80 price drop, and it STARTED at $249. The 3DS also doesn't have nearly the competition the Wii-U has (and is about to have). I think the reason people expect the Wii-U to have a more substantial drop, is because it is actually already losing the competion (badly) against the PS3 and 360.

Putting aside the possibility of a permanent price drop, I think you are also forgetting the likelihood for the Wii-U to have a holiday bundle this year. The PS3/360 have been $199 with 2 games for several years in a row now. Nintendo might not need to match that dollar for dollar, but they definitely need to consider an aggressively priced bundle if they want to get any piece of the pie this holiday...

Outside of a sub-$199 clearance price, there's no way in hell I would buy a Wii-U right now until I at least see the holiday bundle...

Give me ONE SHRED of evidence of that, I have been hearing "Will have a price drop within months" since it's release. Nothing yet...
Look at the sales charts man. Obviously Nintendo has been reluctant to make the permanent MSRP change, but they ultimately don't have a choice. It's 100% inevitable, the alternative is that NO RETAILER will stock the Wii-U on a go-forward basis. The numbers are that bad.

If they do nothing at all they won't even have 1% market share this holiday. I say at minimum there will be a semi-aggressive holiday bundle ($299 with 2 games, but I could also see more aggressive $249 with 2 games). The only question after the holidays is what the new MSRP will be, and if there are changes to the SKU's (more internal storage on deluxe, drop the basic model entirely)

1. Nintendo already has said they will not be dropping the price any time soon. 2. There are a massive amount of games announced at E3 and coming out in the fall and next year, that are big time games. New Smash, New Mario Kart, Wind Waker HD, New Zelda, ETC. If EVER there will be a price drop, it will happen AFTER all those games come out, and if the sales are good enough after that, they might not even drop the price at all.
You can wish all you want but guessing "Oh a $299 with 2 games bundle" is pretty crazy, and people have speculated, pretty much gone "I guarantee after a few months there will be a price drop" and have been wrong again, and again, and again, the best you could of hoped for is a $50 giftcard deal that has been somewhat re-occurring.
Nintendo DOES have a choice, and whether or not a MSRP drop would be smart, it just wont happen these holidays, so don't get your hopes up. There might be a retail specific sale for it, but not from nintendo.

I hope you don't actually believe all of that...

Nobody that has been calling for a Wii-U price cut has been "wrong", Nintendo has just been stubborn - as their severely lagging sales figures clearly prove. Perhaps they have been saving the price drop so it has more "impact" for the holidays - that is my personal theory anyway.

Even the ongoing $50 promotions (which may or may not be "authorized" by Nintendo's merchant agreement) haven't done anything at all for Wii-U sales. At some point, retailers will just take it upon themselves to clearance Wii-U's. Wii-U simply will not be restocked by retail at $349 MSRP, so no, Nintendo does not have a choice. They can either play ball, or the Wii-U will just disappear from stores entirely. Perhaps in lieu of any major retail relationship at all, Nintendo can try and build their own web-store and keep listing at $349 MSRP just to see how that goes for their sales?

In either case, you can bookmark this thread or whatever to come back to it. Because there WILL be a Holiday bundle, and $299 is the maximum price that such a bundle will be. I'm calling that one right now, although I really don't feel that is going out on much of a limb at all. I actually can't believe any CAG's thinks their WON'T be some serious deals on Wii-U this holiday...

The Wii U desperately needs a price cut even if Nintendo CEO'S don't want to make it happened. Once the PS4 and Xbox One come out this holiday season most stores are gonna either make a price cut themselves on a sale or move them back to their warehouse making more room for the new consoles. There is still no new game coming out this year that is going to move units anyway. Most are coming in 2014 if they don't get delayed. Even then the Wii U library will be smaller compared to the PS4 and Xbox One by 2014.

Reason why the Wii U is bad.

1. Should have been called Wii HD.

2. Should have been more powerful at least 3X-4X times than Xbox 360 or PS3 if they don't want to compete with X1 or PS4, still they would receive decent ports.

3. Should have been more PC like architecture.

4. Should have been priced at $200.

5.  Way Better launch titles.

6. Has No Third Party Support.

why not just get a PC if you all want something with PC like architecture... why are we settling for underpowered console/pc wannabee like PS4/X1?

PS4/X1 should've launch at $200, my opion! woooweeeee....   what was that about opinion and asshole? ;/

I for one am glad that Nintendo is acting like a console maker offering a different experience that what I can already receive from PC... you know, cherishing those precious local wtf moments with friends and family.

nevermind, we are at CAG where CA is where it's at!   PC, $200 or bust!

You can't have all of the above 1-5. Especially #2 and #4.

For $349 it should have been a more powerful system, no doubt. At least a bigger gap between PS3/360, and they also should have never created a "basic" version. It should have been standard with 64GB or 128GB and that's it....

The Wii-U was indeed a stupid marketing name though. Should have been Super Wii. Or a new name entirely. Wii-U ended up confusing alot of casuals/non-gamers, and general confusion is probably right up there with price/value for the biggest factor why it isn't selling.

This.

I don't think a price drop will even do much, considering most consumers have no idea what the box even is.
Sure, there are CAGs and diehard gamers who have held out, but Nintendo has done such a poor job marketing the Wii U, let alone how it's different.
Maybe I'm watching the wrong channels, but I haven't seen a single commercial since the launch period.

And on top of all that, I don't see a price cut likely as they're already selling it at a loss.
Is caving in and dropping the price really going to outweigh the increased losses? Probably not..

I do own a Wii U, though. Before someone calls me a troll or Nintendo hater. :p

1) Not really a valid reason. By the same token you could say the 360 was a bad name, since turning 360 puts you at the exact same place you were. Same with the 720 people were begging for.

2) They could have decent ports as is, but companies ultimately have final say. If the 360 / PS3 can support Batman Origins online mode, then the Wii U 100% can too.

3) Not really a valid reason.

4) Not really a valid reason.

5) I wouldn't say the PS4 or Xbox One have awesome launch titles either.

6) Nintendo lost their support a while back and is not really something that they can get back.

I would say there was at least 1 thing you're missing. Poor online account system. Even now the Wii U can't match the PSN or XBL in terms of accounts or ownership. This is just dreadful and horribly dated.

A lot of people discount the tablet controller, which is where a lot of the costs are most likely going. Looking at all the people claiming the Vita will be saved by the PS4 and demand for the PS4 + PSV (and people saying the PS3 + PSV can match it), I wouldn't say Nintendo was on a horribly wrong path. Like the Vita might have more range, but the Wii U has ease of use. For instance you can push the - button on the gamepad and this would switch screens in Pikmin 3. The gamepad can also act as a remote, so it has some neat tricks beyond that.

It should have been a new name entirely or the Wii Wii (just because it's fun to say!). Nintendo screwed up big time and supporting the Wiimotes was a horrible idea. Sure we the consumer win, but the average person sees people playing on the Wii U with the same controllers and views it as nothing more than a tablet add on. Even some early interviews (like Jimmy Kimmel I believe had him make this very same mistake) and news articles stated this. It lead to brand confusion and really screwed Nintendo over. Though I think a bigger factor is people waiting for the XB1 and PS4. Nintendo sells off first party titles and you could easily get the XB1 or PS4 before a smash or kart releases.

This.

There were commercials on basic TV channels (Fox, UPN [I am not calling it the CW], NBC and the like) and of course on Cartoon Network / Nick. However, these ads were very poorly done and you could easily come out of it more confused than you were before.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7dbGJieRaH0

Simply looks like they added a tablet accessory.

I think Nintendo knows they can't win this holiday season and won't bother. They don't have the titles or buzz to beat out the XB1 or PS4, so they might as well wait and make early adopters somewhat happy.

For my $.02, I see the problem with the WiiU being the absolutely horrid release date. They brought it out when the 360 and PS3 were going strong because they realized they screwed the pooch with the Wii being a "next gen" console.

If they had released something on par with the 360 and PS3 when the current gen was starting, they wouldn't have even needed the WiiU until this fall when the Xbone and PS4 come out.  But they needed a stopgap to attempt to catch up with the 360 and PS3.

IMO it all comes down to them releasing a console to compete with the 360 and PS3 that couldn't compete. (Wii)

How did they screw the pooch on the Wii? It might not have impressed third party companies or the hardcore fanbase, but the console still sold more than the PS3 or 360...

Too many people get bogged down by specs / graphics and quickly forget that you can offer an innovative / awesome experience on an underpowered device.
