Waterboarding isn't that bad, what are these wussy terrorists complaining about?

I've been hearing a lot lately about waterboarding, the new hip new trend in the cutting edge world of torture and interrogation. Here is the definition of Waterboarding, according to Wikipedia (which is never wrong, mind you).

"Waterboarding consists of immobilizing an individual and pouring water over his face to simulate drowning, which produces a severe gag reflex, making the subject believe his death is imminent while ideally not causing permanent physical damage."

That's it!? THAT is waterboarding? What makes that any different from getting a nose full of water in the pool, or falling asleep in the bathtub while watching Thelma and Louise? As someone who has first hand experience with that whole "drowning" feeling, I can safely say it's overrated. When it comes to "feelings of your impending death", I much prefer the drowning feeling to something like, narrowly avoiding a 300 foot fall into a river, or eating a Monster Thickburger from Hardee's and struggling to breath for the next 3 hours. These terrorists are getting off light, waterboarding is nothing but a forced shower, and most of those guys could use a nice bath anyways.

And that brings me to another point. They just don't make terrorists like they used to. Remember back in the 80's, when terrorists would spit in their torturers face, and take days worth of painful, genital-related torture sessions, and never give them a single shred of useful information? Now you've got guys like Khalid Shiek Mohammad, who will tell you everything you need to know if you give him a basic titty twister. The problem is, terrorists don't have any badass, "Mans Man" rolemodels to look up to. Who do they have, Osama bin Laden? Have you seen him lately? He's a twig! He looks like an Arab version of Jesse Camp. These terrorists should stop wasting their time on the monkeybars and tire courses at their local Training Camps, and start getting into torture shape. You need to build up your pain tolerance. And if the main draw of waterboarding is that feeling of impending death, why are they so quick to submit? They don't mind strapping themselves to the tits with dynamite and blowing their limbs across the desert, but a mouthful of water makes them cave in?

After thinking about this whole thing, I think I just figured it all out. I know how we can win the war in Iraq. If these terrorists are so afraid of getting wet, the simple solution is this; arm all American soldiers with these:
Isn't this the same as Chinese water torture.
That's what I was thinking, but I think Chinese water torture just drips water constantly on your head.

The OP's statement is exactly what some reporter from Fox news was saying until he had it done to him. It's a funny video cause once they get into it he screams like a chick. And the only terrorists I remember from the 80s were ... THE BOLIVIANS!!

Plus the reporter could stop the torture whenever he wanted, yet he still flipped the feck out.

Someone willing to blow themselves up does not exactly equal a pussy Fox News reporter.

It was on the Daily Show last night. Comedy Central may have the clip.

My comment: I won't judge how torturous something is by a pussy Fox News reporter that cried like a little girl when he got tazered.

Now imagine in that a non-controlled, prison environment. You'll be pissing your pants in no time flat.

There is a technique that allows you to get through controlled sessions. Now would that work in a truly hostile environment? Probably not.
Funny you say that, because no, no, you actually can't.
Actually yes, I can, since I came about a minute from drowning in my high school swimming pool, so I know the feeling. These people are strapped to a board with water being poured on them, I was submerged for 3+ minutes. I think i'm in a good enough position to say I know what it feels like.

Don't you just LOVE forming generalizations?

Feel free to call me an idiot but I can't tell if you're supporting my statements or arguing with me.

So, to update the score:

1) Waterboarding is a technique to be pooh-poohed because it only simulates drowning. It's child's play and nothing to be concerned about.

YET

2) VG has drowned in the past, and uses that experience to give him argumentative leverage based on what it does feel like to drown. Being submerged underwater for 3 minutes, then, must feel delightfully ticklish, then. If it's anything worse, then you're contradicted your claim that waterboarding ain't nothin' to be outraged by, since the feeling it is supposed to convey in people is that of a drowning sensation.

Was it good for you?

A little of both?

A situation like the reporter was in, it's doable. In a prison where guards are scalding your ball hairs, that's completely different.

I agree with you completely. I was arguing the OP's statement that waterboarding is nothing. I'm pointing out the fact that the reporter is in a "friendly" environment and can control when each session ends and he still freaks out. Now imagine if you're in a prison where you have no control and the people that are doing this to you are completely hostile and are indifferent to wether you're uncomfortable or not (let alone how close you come to actually drowning). I imagine the OP wouldnt take waterboarding so lightly.

Eh, maybe. Ever hear of Philip Zimbarod's Stanford Prison Experiment? That dude made a career out of fucking up (severely) one experiment.

Or, how about this one:

3) The original post was 100% joking (which is why it was originally posted in Off Topic Discussion), but some people here are too stupid to realize that.

Feckin' whatevah. I know his name (don't forget Stanley Milgram's conformity experiments either), but my fingas...they were just moving so fast.

VG, you got awfully defensive to my post before claiming sarcasm...
