The GameQuest Direct Reprints Thread
GameQuestDirect wants to win the CAGs back - Feedback requested

Very nice deals. VGD have done very well by my standards thus far.

But, being a gamer, demands remain at the forefront. Any word on potential reprints? ;)

Very, very nice on the Gitaroo Man deal. I got my used copy through the good ol' EBgames update for much more (but much less than the eBay prices back then) back in the day. Definitely worth $20 for folks who don't have this yet.

I'm sure GQD is aware of the Reprints Thread and is keeping an eye on it.
They also said they will keep us abreast of their activities. I will keep that thread's OP updated (and post in the thread) when I hear any news.

The Gitaroo Man deal is exactly why we should be dealing with a unique retailer like GQD. Good game, good price, and hard to find elsewhere.

Out of curiosity, do the GQD reprints have any special markings like on the box, manual or disc that they are reprinted or are they just as if they came out of the "real" publisher?

I was just going to ask this myself before I bit on Gitaroo Man. I have no interest in reselling "rare" games -I buy to play- but I don't want a reprint that is disernably not like the original. Also, any opinions on Gitaroo Man as a game? If I buy this now Persona 3 will have to wait and I've already waited like 7 years for that game. :)

I believe the only difference is they don't have that silver Sony sticker (which you remove when you open the packaging) on top.

Correcto. Collecting is now all about the white sticker.

But they don't put these on new games anymore anyway. A note to anyone who was looking into Gitaroo Man on PS2, once you pause the game, you are forced to restart the stage. Pretty stupid, which is why I'm sticking to the PSP version.

For the record, GQD isn't actualy reprinting anything. They are paying the original publishers to make a new printing and then GQD distributes them, so there's no reason for the reprints to look any different from the original run.

at least that's my understanding of the situation...

I'm in for Gitaroo Man. It cost $25.63 after tax and shipping. My experience with this order will probably decide whether I order with them ever again.

Took a bite...$24.98 USD for Gitaroo Man. Hell, I remember when I bought it off ebay for $70+ as a present... >_< That really hurt the bank.

$25 shipped for Gitaroo Man is a sweet deal. I mean, considering that I think $20 for a used Gitaroo Man is a deal (as used 1st or repro would hake no difference anyways). So even if you can't consider it a new 1st, at worst you could consider it a used/mint copy if you want to think of it that way instead.

A follow up question to my question last week about what reprints are.

So basically, these guys (for certain games) just go to Atlus or whomever and get them to print up a bunch more copies of the game and then sell them? So it's legit in terms of piracy and whatnot, it's just no a first run kind of thing, correct?

Wow! I couldn't resist snagging Gitaroo Man. Could've stood not to spend anymore money on games for a couple of weeks, but who knew GQD would cater to my #1 reprint request so soon? :hot:

What is with these guys? I ordered God of War II on July 31 and they haven't even sent me a confirmation email. PayPal is waiting for them to accept payment or something because the transaction is "pending." Is this normal? I thought that something as common as GoWII would ship almost immediately...

These would be much better deals if you could use more than one coupon per order. As it stands, I'd be paying what I'd save in shipping three seperate orders.

Thanks, but no thanks.
yea the shipping tends to be a problem, wouldnt be if you could stack certain coupons,
I don't agree that they should allow stacking all around, but, for example, allow the free shipping on $75 to stack with other coupons - this would encourage more sales (since Madden at $49 wouldn't qualify), and would satisfy gamers as well.

Truthfully, their shipping prices are a *touch* high, but only slightly above normal, IMO. $4 for media mail is better than many places offer; but, of course, the cost benefit is offset by not having Madden on day 1.

I could see the "cagship" coupon stacking, but not on orders less than $75. Let's be reasonable, and not beg for sub-$20 PSP games that are 3 weeks old.

They're on the right track with cheap old Wii titles. Now they should get some good launch games for something like $25. (AKA Rayman RR, Exite Truck, Super Monkey Ball[I know SMB isn't great but I'd get it for $25 shipped or so])

ordered gitaroo, why not? looks fun, hopefully this company works out well with this order. it's be nice if they got some sega cd reprintd of working designs...though that's be hard to do, i'm sure (i'm sure the awful jewel cases for those are impossible to get). x_o i always needed vay for the collection.

these all come with the same quality manual/boxart and stuff right? not just some flimsy paper reprint, i hope...

Here is the response from GQD to me.
GameQuestDirect has a policy for one coupon code per order. This is a standard safe-guard placed by most retailers who are offering a loss lead. Loss lead tactics take place hoping the consumer will purchase other items with the promotional item (balancing the loss) or make a separate order in the near future. We are hoping that within a few month it will lead to independent sales, if not sooner. Essentially, it will hurt us in the long run if customers only purchase promotional items. We are continiously working to offer the best deals and thank CAG for their support.

hmm, figured it would be something along those lines...

it would still work out though if they at least combined the free shipping with $75 purchase along with at least 1 other discount, then people may be more inclined to reach the magic number of $75 just to save on shipping.

do appreciate the response though and at least they do have some decent deals available:)

My girlfriend has been wanting Carbon for a while, I think I'll pick it up now with this code. I was going to get Gitaroo too, but it kind of sucks you can't stack coupons. I guess what GQD responded back though makes sense. :)

Talk about a doomed philosophy. Loss leaders work with the general public. Loss leaders do not work with the niche community of "deal seekers" or "price sensitive consumers", or whatever we're being called now.

CAG is going to bleed them dry of nothing but loss leaders and leave their discarded husk behind when we move onto the next retailer.

Normally I would agree, but I think GQD offers something unique in their reprints. For most games CAG's are very price conscious, but a game becomes "rare" and suddenly the price sensitivity seems to go out the window. If they hope that CAG's will start buying everyday full price games, then they are mistaken.

I was going to wait a little bit to pick up Madden since I bought NCAA only a few weeks ago, but for $50 on 360 I'm convinced to do it now. Sweet.

I ordered gitaroo man yesterday around 3:00 pm and I just received an email that my order has been cancelled. I wonder if they are out of stock.

There's a coupon box on the shopping cart page.

Just ordered Gitaroo Man. Debated on getting Eureka Seven, but I didn't even play the first one yet.
