Most hispanics have come here in groups and moved into Spanish communities, they live, work, and buy their products in spanish neighborhoods and have NO NEED to learn English.
No disrespect intended, but that's a sorry excuse. When I go into a store, and the lady/guy behind the counter has to work on the language barrier for an extra 10 to 15 minutes because the customer has no idea what they are saying and vice versa, the customer is frustrated....that's not the business bending, that's EXPECTING english speaking people to bend. When you see a child, their mother and father appear to speak better english than most American people who have been here all their life, and they speak to the child in Spanish, the child speaks back in Spanish, how does that make sense? Why aren't they teaching their child to speak English?
When I have to have more information in order for my driver's license and car, for example, than someone who is actually here illegally....well, that's the dumb ass government bending.
With the logic of that's what they are exposed to is kinda like me going to someone's house and sitting on their couch, watching TV in my underwear, eatting Cheetos and getting orange balls. Hey, if that's the way it is at home, surely that's what's accepted everywhere right? (to clarify, I really don't do that, I don't eat Cheetos much.)
I don't have some supreme theory that only some cultures and races *belong* here, far from it. I also don't have some Archie Bunker approach to life. I really don't care if you are white, black, orange, yellow, pink, blue, Hispanic, Chineese, Jewish, martian, etc.
I just expect to be treated like I still belong.
