Not sure I understand the point of the thread. I do some of my gaming purchases at Gamestop, but not nearly as much as you would think given the size of my collection. Rather than be the "go-to" place for gaming they are always my last resort. The gutted new games (no excuse), the total lack of quality control in what is accepted for used (again, no excuse) makes them unappealing.
And directly to the OP: just because things like scratches and stickers don't bother YOU, doesn't mean it doesn't bother ME. I am not whiney or silly because my standards are higher than yours. At worst it means we have different opinions, although I actually believe you don't understand what value for your money means.
I'd imagine the problem the OP has, and I share, is that many people that hop on here to complain about GS fail to recognize their higher standards. Gamestop is a chain, it is a McDonalds for video games... I'd like to think that even by this measure GS does good on a lot of things, but at the same time I recognize that they're not going to put my dollar cheesburger in a Big Mac box, that sometimes they might put pickles on it which I'll have to scrape off, and of course they're going to ask if I want fries and a drink even though I didn't say I did. I know what I'm getting from McDonalds as I do from Gamestop, why doesn't anyone else? There's nothing wrong with having higher standards, but the story's been told ad nauseum yet people still complain instead of taking their business somewhere else or learning to deal with it. I'm pretty confident most everyone here is aware by now that Gamestop is going to gut a lot of games and ask if you want to preorder a game etc etc. yet for some reason threads keep popping up with people acting confused, like they were completely unaware of these practices or it's some new scandal. That's my problem, many of these threads aren't from people looking to resolve a problem, it's just a call-and-respond "hey, WHO ELSE here doesn't like Gamestop!?" rant.
My experience with Gamestop is fine. I've had a couple moments that have exceeded my expectations, but normally it's just a regular shopping experience. I come across the occasional issue... they might put a GH disc in my black label case or there might be a sticker on the spine of the cover art, it's certainly not hard to correct. I'm sure if I shopped at any other store as much as I did with GS I would come across the same myriad of faults. More importantly, I think a lot of the complaints that are currently hurled at Gamestop just don't have any merit. They don't just gut games for fun, obviously if the majority of people don't care and it allows them to put out as many display copies on the floor as possible then of course they're going to do it. Not to mention if you look through the threads it's hard to tell if people are more upset about GS's scrutinizing their trade-ins OR the poor quality of the used games they sell. "Heads I win, tails you lose."
