i didn't like TEGAN & SARA But now i love them :)

what abot you post here

Devin Townsend

I didn't like him a few years ago because I wasn't into that style of music at the time but boy when I did rediscover him. It's like listening to brilliance.

Tool

I went to see them on the Lateralus tour because my cousin had an extra ticket and I hated it. At the time I liked grunge and fast punk and stuff and I found that concert to be really slow and boring as hell. Now I hate myself for not liking it and having no idea what was even played. I would give anything to see that show now.

Pearl Jam. Hated them when they first came out and all my classmates were wearing flannel and cut off jean shorts. Now I friggin love them.

i went to go see paramore in concert with new found glory and TEGAN & SARA and i didn't like them and i said to my cousin they suck Now I hate myself for not liking them and having no idea what was even playing . I friggin love them I would give anything to see that show now

My brother was always huge into Tool and trying to push them on me. I never disliked them, but I'm just now really starting to absorb them. Then again, he did a lot of acid and I didn't. Same with A Perfect Circle. They weren't fast and screamy and distorted so it didn't appeal to my 16-year-old white boy angst like Slipknot and Cannibal Corpse did. To a lesser extent, and to my username, Nine Inch Nails.

Those are all still bands I love, too, but, for the most part, when I listen to new metal today I feel like I've heard it a thousand times before. I have a lot of things on my iPod like Paul Simon and Dean Martin and Regina Spektor that I would have kicked my own ass a few years ago for listening to. Phil Collins.

Incidentally I think I'm the only person in the world who has fallen asleep at a Slayer concert.

Always hated Blink-182. I've been listening to them more and more lately though. Listening to album tracks that aren't on the radio really helped.

Dream Theater. When I first started listening to metal I thought it was too abstract and unstructured at times. Now I love bands with progressive elements, particularly DT.

GWAR. Always thought the monster costume gimmick was super-lame (and I still think it's totally lame), but their studio recording aren't too bad. Wouldn't say I love them... but when it's played on a radio stream, I don't switch channels.

GWAR is a great band with amazing songs (see Scumdogs of the Universe and America Must Be Destroyed) and their costumes are what make them. They put on one of the best cheap live shows around that are a ton of fun. Lame is the last word I'd use to describe GWAR.

Yeah Progressive is a real love it or hate it type of thing. It's I wouldn't say so different than metal out there now but it's much more complicated and well more complex to listen to. Also I don't know if everyone can listen to 20-40 minute songs .

Still hate Dream Theater, that god damn vocalist kills it for me. Liquid Tension Experiment is however the same thing without vocals so I can dig it.

Duran Duran and Depeche Mode fall into the title category for me. Actually, most all 80's synth pop (Pet Shop Boys, Soft Cell, New Order, etc...) seems to do it for me these days. Like the other guy I was too busy being a metalhead to enjoy them properly. Now I see how some of their orchestrations end up as blueprints for metal tunes.

The Dresden Dolls, saw them live with NIN and QotSA (who I'm still on the fence about) and the sound was really bad so I couldn't understand what was going on. A buddy leant me Amanda Palmer's solo record and I've been a major fan ever since.

I go back and forth with Metallica. I thought the black album was a travesty, but actually found a lot to like in Load and ReLoad. St. Anger sounds god awful but has some interesting parts and Death Magnetic is just so horribly produced that I find it unlistenable, though some of the songs are quite good.

I never used to like Pantera, because it always sounded too "southern" to me, and wasn't ever appealing.

Then I grew balls. Now I love them.

Anthrax.

I really didn't like them until I saw them on tour with Megadeth & Slayer. Now they're one of my favorite bands.

One band that comes to mind for me is Def Leppard. I don't exactly love them per say, but anytime I would listen to them, it just sounded ok. I liked the songs, but they did nothing for me. But at some point I discovered their first two albums back when they were more NWOBHM than the pop/rock they are now and I thoroughly enjoy them. Especially Rock Brigade. Fun anthem to rock too. I still stay clear of anything past the 90s from them though.

Lincoln.

I saw them open for They Might Be Giants years ago, and thought they were alright. My friend bought their CD and annoyed me with it, but after a few listens, I got hooked. Unfortunately, they only ever released the one CD, but two of the band members went on to join TMBG, so the memory lives on!
