I went to see them on the Lateralus tour because my cousin had an extra ticket and I hated it. At the time I liked grunge and fast punk and stuff and I found that concert to be really slow and boring as hell. Now I hate myself for not liking it and having no idea what was even played. I would give anything to see that show now.[/QUOTE]
My brother was always huge into Tool and trying to push them on me. I never disliked them, but I'm just now really starting to absorb them. Then again, he did a lot of acid and I didn't. Same with A Perfect Circle. They weren't fast and screamy and distorted so it didn't appeal to my 16-year-old white boy angst like Slipknot and Cannibal Corpse did. To a lesser extent, and to my username, Nine Inch Nails.
Those are all still bands I love, too, but, for the most part, when I listen to new metal today I feel like I've heard it a thousand times before. I have a lot of things on my iPod like Paul Simon and Dean Martin and Regina Spektor that I would have kicked my own ass a few years ago for listening to. Phil Collins.
Incidentally I think I'm the only person in the world who has fallen asleep at a Slayer concert.
