What do you guys think of Wanda Sykes?

Personally, I can't stand her. She needs to get her talentless ass of the Applebee's commercials, and out of Hollywood all together. I'm pretty sure there's a reason every TV show she gets is cancelled quickly. She's not funny, and I don't know why these people in charge of TV shows & movies keep giving her jobs. Do you guys think she's funny?

I'm pretty sure she's only hired because of affirmative action.

i hate her damn voice and her nose. very fucking annoying right up there with rosie odonnel and ryan seacrest.
Women comedians? No.
But what about Margaret C......Rita R.....Janeane Ga.......yeah, you're right, women aren't funny. Sarah Silverman's "say crazy shit to get a shock laugh" bit is getting old too.

She's the only woman comedian who's ever gotten a *single* chuckle outta me. For that reason, I'm on the fence about this one.

That doesn't explain how the long and established legacy of how many completely unfunny and perpetually on tv fuckin' EVERYWHERE white women has lasted.

I thought she was pretty funny in her day, but I have no respect for anyone who is willing to do Applebee's commercials.

Margaret Cho is pretty damned funny, however, while I agree that Sarah Silverman is just a storyteller who weaves in offensive things to eek a nervous laugh out of people.

I don't care much for her stand-up routines at all, but she's a lot more competent actress than some other comediannes. She did a voice in some cartoon (sry, can't remember offhand) that I thought she did a good job on, as well as her Crank Yankers bits as Dead of Knight mentioned. Her voice is a bit annoying, but that's her schtick. When you hear her voice, you KNOW thats Wanda Sykes. As for her acting, it is bearable, but more-so when she has good writing to go with the character she is playing.

My God! Look at that nose... It's huge!
Up there with Conan O'Brien as one of the few people that can make even the funniest situations painful to see. Terrible.
FAIL.

I positively hate her. So not funny, but trying so hard to be. For Christ's sake, she can't even pull off black humor.

Up there with Pink, Steven Segal, and Fran Drescher as my least favorite celebs.

I'd never heard of her until I saw the title of this thread.

Also, why is it that everyone who was using Imageshack for their signature images no longer has a signature? Me, Guile, Freaky...

EDIT: Nevermind, Rocko's good. Must be a coincidence.

I like Kathleen Madigan, but other than that, I'm having trouble thinking of any current female stand up comedians/comediennes I like.
Wanda Sykes is not one of them.

Hilarious in "Curb Your Enthusiasm".

Otherwise, I want to put a bullet through that apple, and film it with slo-motion film.

I like Kathy Griffin better than Wnada, but I'm not sure if that is saying much. There are few comedians (male or female), that I truly enjoy.

Kathy Griffin? Queen of the land where laughter goes to die? Ugh, no thanks.

There are several female comedians I do enjoy, though... Kathleen Madigan, Cory Kahaney, Maria Bamford... Just not Kathy Griffin. Or Lisa Lampanelli for that matter. Insult comedy started and ended with the king of insults, Don Rickles.

I guess it shouldn't be too surprising that I don't find her super-annoying. I guess I gotta plead indifference.

Let's keep it in perspective--you gotta save some room below for her Comedy Central cohort, Carlos. Oh, and me! (Rimshot)

She was in Down To Earth with Chris Rock, right? I think she was Eh in that movie, and she used to have her own TV show, but I couldn't stand her either way.

typically not all that funny but the crank yankers thing she did with the turd in the backseat of the car is one of the funniest things I've ever heard in my life.

Not bad. Didn't even know a ton of people hated her until this thread. Though back then I hadn't seen Carlin ( I like Carlin ) and liked Dane Cook , so my opinion may have changed.

She gets my respect for her work on Curb. I don't give a shit what she's done elsewhere (and I don't know much about it to be honest). On Curb she's hilarious.

Same goes for Richard Lewis. I faintly recall his sitcom doing what sitcoms do--suck ass--but after seeing him on Curb, the guy could do 50 shitty sitcoms and it wouldn't alter my respect for his work. Almost every scene he's written into on Curb is funnier by his being there.

I think Curb is a good standard for a lot of performers. All they have is a thin outline for the scene. The dialogue, the reactions, that's improv that's mostly coming from the performer. So if you see Wanda Sykes on something and she's not funny, based on what I've seen on Curb, I would guess that there may also be terrible writing involved.

Well...Chelsea Handler's old show was pretty damn funny. Her new talk show isn't that great, but she's still a funny broad. I have also seen some solid half-hour stand up routines by women (none of which I can remember the name of). Not a big fan of the ones mentioned above, though.

EDIT: Oh yeah, Lisa Lampenelli is awesome, although I don't know how much more mileage she can really get out of her schtick.

Back on point...I think Wanda is pretty funny. When she's used properly, she can be very funny. Not my favorite, but not bad at all.

Wanda Sykes is at least 150x funnier than Dane Cook.

I hate her. I almost didn't watch Clerks 2 when I heard she was in it for a few minutes and everytime the Applebee's commercials come on I either change the channel or mute the TV. She is just so fucking annoying.
