1991. Four LAPD officers beat Rodney King. The courts refuse to do anything. The city of Los Angeles burns in angry riots.
2009. Police brutality is at a level never seen before. People are being tazed and abused left and right by the police and arrested for practically nothing. These officers are never punished, and in many cases, their behavior is encouraged. The rage and aftermath? People post their anger online and go back to playing Nintendo Wii.
1963: Black people oficially grow sick of being oppressed. They march on Washington, D.C. and Martin Luther King, Jr. gives his "I Have A Dream" speech. It leads to a civil rights movement in this country.
2009. Corporations oppress people. The DMCA is their means to strongarm their customers, legit, paying customers are treated as criminals. Poeple stay plastered to their Nintendo Wii and XBox 360 and take it. Oh, and there's the state of Louisiana which is still a racist hole, David Duke is still alive, and rap artists are making blacks look bad while their white record company bosses sign their paychecks. The civil rights movement has pretty much been reversed overnight.
So... what exactly must happen in this country before someone finally just has enough? Before a LARGE GROUP of people rise up? It used to happen all the time, now everyone just sees it as acceptable.
I'd do something but I know it'd be pointless and everyone would label me a malcontent and go back to being bent over. yeah, real tempted to do something for you people.
But I knew we were getting soft. Remember when Ice-T sang "Cop Killer"? What's he doing now? Playing a TV cop. Hypocrite. That's what Ice-T is, he's a sell-out hypocrite.
this country. And I say that knowing the WORST I risk is a forum ban. Call me when the USA grows its pair back.
