I live and work 10min away from the mall used in the original. Monroeville Mall in Pittsburgh, PA. It was so creepy to watch that and remember the way the mall used to look.

btw.. the Original Salem's Lot and the freaky Alien movie with Christopher Walken Communion..

There are SO many horror movies I like....I have to think more, but those are the mainstream ones mainly.

For the "classics," I'm partial to The Shining, Halloween, and Salem's Lot.

For the new school, I must give props to Hostel. Not really THAT scary, but definitely entertaining. I liked Devil's Rejects, too.

Puppet Master series was hokey, but not a bad watch if you don't mind movies like that. I really enjoyed when the puppets were sensitive.

I know a guy who's a HUGE thriller movie fan. He says this is one of the best horror films. They scare the crap out of you, but essentially show you nothing. I though it was scary when I first saw it cause I bought into the hype that it was real.

The studio did a campaign to promote the footage was real and simply found. But 5 minutes after the movie someone told me it was fake. However during the entire movie I tought I was watching some kinda documentray. It freaked me out.
 
Hmmm. The Shining, Nightmare on Elm Street, House of 1000 Corpses, Silent Hill (yeah, that's right, and I don't want to hear about how much you hated it either), and I'm partial to the remake of Dawn of the Dead, The Hills Have Eyes, TCM (newest), and Saw.

I started to think about it and I wouldn't call Devil's Rejects a horror movie. Yes, it is a follows House of 1000 corpses, but it reminds me more of Natural Born Killers which definitely isn't a horror movie.

My guess is one of the passengers on the was eating an ice cream cone. When she walked on the bus, a bit dripped on the floor. A gust of wind came onto the bus, manipulating a baby into crying loudly. A construction worker, having to board the bus because his car mysteriously stopped working, was carrying bricks, and he looked at the baby while walking and slipped on the ice cream. A brick fell from his hands onto the driver's foot, lodged in there because a can of super glue somehow fell from the man in the first seat, because instead of his medication going into his water, the sleeping pill from across the way mysteriously was swapped with his medication. This made the driver's foot stuck to the pedal, which would have been fine, but a brick fell on his shoe. All the driver could do was scream as his bus hit that girl.

It was classic, instant smush. She had no chance of even making under the bus until it slowed down. Just an awesome scene.

Does Jaws count as horror? If so, then that. Obviously a very common choice, but for good reason. A classic film.

I find that Day of the Dead has held up quite well since its release. In fact, when I originally saw the film I did not like very much, but over time I have come to rank it up there with the original Dawn of the Dead, even with the somewhat campy concept of the "evolving" zombie.

I would include High Tension and believe that I want to, but it's the most attrocius film that can be labeled as suspense/horror that I have ever seen. If it weren't for that god awful ending. Why oh why did Aja need to include that terrible twist at the end? Why?

Good mention on "Ginger Snaps". Too bad last I remembered in order to get the WS version of the original you have to buy the Canadian edition. Also agreed on the prequel bit.
I'd recommend for somewhat unwatched shit:
"Infection"-Nice little mindfuck.
"The Phone"-Ripoff of "The Ring" I suppose but I haven't seen it yet either. Features Ha Ji-Won as the main actress in it and has a GREAT performance by the little girl, totally fucking nuts.
"A Tale Of Two Sisters"-Good mindfuck and I HIGHLY recommend this. Dreamworks is even remaking it.
 
It's probably trendy to hate this movie, but I'll go with Blair Witch Project. I really loved the ending the first time I saw it

and the fact that they never actually show the witch on screen. Basically leaves you to wonder if there is really a witch or anything supernatural going on or not.

You know what sucks? This thread reminded me I wanted to see the theatrical ending. I already had the Bootleg Edition, and picked up the Boomstick Edition a few months ago at the 3/20 EB sale. Open it up today, and it has two Director's Cut DVDs. fuck!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Now I have three DVDs that are exactly the same. Assholes.

*VERY MINOR SPOILERS (like this because I don't know how to make the spoilers hidden box) Ash sweet talking some chick how he could have been king, then a fellow worker turns around, possessed. He takes a shotgun, seemingly throws it half across the room, then he jumps on a shopping cart, going forward a few feet, and he catches the shotgun and shoots the possessed. After, he says something groovy, maybe "hail to the king"? Someone please correct me. *End SPOILERS.

Are you talking about the Army of Darkness ending? Cause that's how I remember it ending.

If you didn't like the evolving zombies in Day of the Dead, you won't like Land of the Dead. They just go further with the evolving zombies. Also, the CG gory turned me off with LotD, it just looked too fake.
 
Yaeh, I'm not too big a fan of Land of the Dead. there are parts I like and plenty of parts that I didn't like, but it was still a decent movie. Didn't care much for the evolving zombie in that movie either.

It's pretty much a werewolves vs. army trainees movie. It was one of the biggest surprises I've ever seen. It's definitely worth checking out.

The only thing that sucks about the DVD is that the picture quality is lacking IMO. I wish they could somehow re-release it in like a higher definition?
