I've always wanted to be the President of a TV network. Cancelling bad tv shows just seems like fun to me. How about you?

I'd say porno. The pay may blow, but the job sure does suck ;-)

Seriously, I would love to be a photographer.

No fucking clue. I thought game designer for a while, as a lot of us nerds do, but I realized I like to play them more than make them. So I guess video game reviewer.

Excluding all the obvious hot-chick-related jobs,

I'd like to work for activision, circa 1980, on Atari 2600 games.

This hardware is probably the strangest, most fun and most challenging to work with.

Game programming nowadays? Naah. You'll work 60-70 hours a week, and if you're lucky, only hate your games when you're done; if not, you'll hate all of them.

For every good one you see there are probably 10 nasty ass ones you'd have to examine.

And I think it would take all of the fun out of it.

Thankfully, I knee-deep in my dream job(s). Video production and anime/manga/video game reviewing. I once considered game designing when I was younger but I realized I'd rather play complete versions of games (though preview versions before release are fun once in a while). It's an everyday challenge trying to stay humble.

Eldad9....you hit the nail right on the freakin head. It's still fun though...I can't imagine doing anything else. I worked as a structural engineer for a few years before quitting after hating EVERY second of my professional life. The game industry is where I'll probably stay at, if I can.

This sounds similar to me. I wanted to make video games, but luckly I realized early on it just wasn't for me. I then went into Video Production and now work at a News satation.

But like I stated earlier I would really like to be a voice actor. Chris Latta is my idol.

Ive worked at Movie Rental Store, Movie Theater and now a comic book store. Ive had many close friends work at videogame stores. Ive realized...I HATE RETAIL.

i actually WANT a cubicle job. that actually sounds NICE. argh...

IRS accountant who audits people and receives death threats for assessing huge penalties on working class people.

Oh, dream job? Small forward for the Minnesota Timberwolves. I thought you said 'future ACTUAL job' for a second there.

You'd think that... up until you get a service call to go out and fix an executive's PC for the 10th time because the guy is just smart enough to really fuck himself up, and the people that work for and around him are too intimidated to tell him to just stop screwing with the machine.

Oh, beleive me, i know whats involved. My GF's dad works over at Compuware...sounds like a crap job...but it pays more and is a bit more respectable than my current job. But hey, at least i can show off my promotion worthy attitude and kindness...

I hate reatil. I've worked as Sat tech, telemarketing, Manager at a game store, stock, and now cell phone sales. I want a job were I can see as little of other people as possible. I seriously get sick to my stomach every morning before work just knowing I have to deal with people.

Obviously this isn't my long term career choice, but I've always wanted to work at 7-11.

AND I JUST APPLIED LAST NIGHT!

*FINGERS CROSSED*

I know how you feel. I was that way when i worked at K-mart. I dreaded work every day...that can really fuck with your body too. oddly enough though, stress was a great way for me to loose weight...

My dream job would have to be Chief Financial Officer at BMW of North America, LLC.
Short of that, pretty much any public accounting firm or at the IRS auditing.

Retail... no. I've been in low-level IT positions for several years and I already can't take it anymore.

My dream job?

Animator. Comic book writer/artist. Video game art designer. One or all of the above.

A decent living doing something I actually feel is worth something more than the dwindling hours of my life.

Freelance satirist and political commentator. (like David Sedaris or Mike Luchovich)

I plan to teach college and lecture on politics and rhetoric; hopefully i can do some satirical writing at the same time.

But hey, I'd be satisfied if I could just finish my bachelor's degree right now...

My dreamjob is not the typical. I am a huge math geek, so I'm looking forward to a career as an actuary or as some sort of non-typical engineer, i.e. material engineer or process engineer.

bartender, or mechanic. or even a fireman.

but most of all, HUGH HEFNER. #1 idol.
and not for the money, cause i would be bill gates, but hes a loner.

That and he has the voice of Kermit the frog. Which while it would be cool for a little while, would not be fun to live with for your whole life.

President of Delta airlines, Ive always wanted to travel all over the world, and I could do it for free and make a grip of money, so that would be cool

Independently Wealthy! :D That's my dream job... I just need a ton of money so I can do whatever I want when I want.

You need to win the lottery.

Hey, as long as you know what you're in for.
I've seen the day to day operations at a couple of the Big 3 from multiple angles, and so long as you actually are qualified and actually do your work, you won't ever have a problem. (Save the times when they cull the workforce a little.)

roland13x - I feel the same way. Funny, though - I was a mechE prior to this. It's crazy-ass hard work, but definitely satisfying in a way making plastic boxes for consumer electronics wasn't. :D

Game programmer is my dream job.

I'm currently in a computer science Master's program, and I'm hoping to get a job in game programming after graduating. The problem is, I really want to live in Richmond (Virginia), if not right away, then eventually, and there are no game companies there. So, I have to pick between my dream job and my dream location.
