Mostly all ones that were made after... well, me. I have this weird habit with movies, where it's hard for me to watch a movie older than I am, because it just loses the punch it had, nine times out of 10, because I'm unable to take the story as it is, because everything else just doesn't fit in with the now. It's weird, I know, and I get a lot of crap for it, but oh well.

Interesting bit of trivia, only two of those movies are in my DVD collection. Although, that's mostly due to me being broke... very broke. :cry:

What I want to know is how on earth Toy Story 2 is ranked higher than the first. That defies logic in my opinion, and yes, I know they are only off by .1 in the ratings.

There's a few movies on there (Mystic River and Cinderella Man) that I picked up real cheap on DVD but haven't gotten around to watching.

I've seen 80 of them, which is a good 30 or so more than I predicted.

I'm amazed that Hotaru no Haka made the list - you can't show a movie I'd cry more watching. Jesus Christ, that's a sad fucking movie.

I'd also say that of the movies I've seen on the list, more of them are older films (e.g., Bringing Up Baby, The Lady Vanishes) than modern films (whatever the hell's up there that I haven't seen).
 
I've seen 169.

My first year of college I made it my goal to make it through the (then) imdb Top 100. I missed my goal by about 4 films, and now 4 years later, it's interesting to see how even just the top 100 has changed pretty dramatically. There's about 10 just in the top 100 that I haven't seen, now.
 
I've seen 92, though I own at least 10 more on DVD that I haven't gotten around to watching. That also doesn't count any that I haven't seen all the way through, such as Shawshank, It's a Wonderful Life, etc.

It's surprising how many of the ones I've seen don't have any place on that list. I'd say no more than 30 could even be called very good.

I think Citizen Kane did poorly in theatres as well and wasn't that well-recieved by critics at the time either. But today, it's considered one of the greatest movies of all time.

I used to be the same way when I was younger, I think I was afraid to watch black & white films at one point. I gradually started to watch older and older films by the decade (70s, 60s, 50s, 40s). I still try to avoid renting movies from the 1920s and 1930s though, which, sadly, includes Wizard of Oz and Gone with the Wind.

Kinda sad really, I watch too many movies, but I guess watching AMC/TCM and taking useless film history and international film courses in colleges did account for most of the older and/or foreign ones I've seen. Alot of the western/war movies I saw as a kid with my dad too.

Now if you ask how many of the original uncut or unedited versions of those I've seen the number would drop fast I'm sure and if you asked how many I own that number would dip below 15-20% quickly. Some of them I didn't even the whole film watch all in one sitting, but in pieces on a network like TCM or on DVD. To be honest, I was underwhelmed when I viewed a decent number of the films from this list mainly because they've been so talked up though, then again at times some blew me away.

Blow isn't on there which is probably my favorite movie of all time tied with Fight Club. :whistle2:(

Star Wars III is actually probably the best of the prequel saga, but it definitely can't hold a candle to the originals. Whether or not it should be in the top 250 is up for debate, but I don't want to give my opinion as it may be biased;). But if you were to ask for my honest film buff opinion, no it probably shouldn't be on there especially with the travesty of films that actually should be, but aren't such as a great deal of foreign films like La Dolce Vita, Night and Fog, Le Samourai (sp I can never remember the spelling of this one) etc.

In all honesty I believe that V should be up there. But whether or not as high it is is the real discussion.

I agree as well as a few other horror films that are not on the top 250 sadly. The IMDB voters seem to frown on the horror/fantasy genres in general, especially to those that truly belong on there.

As to my list, it's fairly up there. Not in the upper echelon like CAG's resident film buff/reviewer modium, but from my last count about 160. i own a majority of them as well and qutie a few of the DVDs I own, but haven't watched, are from the top 250.
