what (new) albums have you been listening to lately
Ditto, excellent production on this one, Wu is back.
Yeah man great album. I didnt have the highest hope for it but it turned out great.

Tool 10,000 Days... the title track (#4) is fucking amazing.

Pearl Jam (new album)

Brian Wilson: Smile (not new, but still amazing music)

Well, got an advance on the new Zero 7 album, the Garden, not quite sure why. It's decent enough. More music for late 20-something's to make out to and think they're indie at the same time. But if you weren't a fan before, this ain't gonna convert you.

I love you :applause:

Lately I have been listening to Lewis Black's The Carnegie Hall Performance. Great album. Not as good as his first 3 CDs but it blows away Luther Burbank Performing Arts Center Blues.

The Blood Brothers - Crimes (2004)

Millionaire - Paradisiac (2005)

Eagles of Death Metal - Death By Sexy (2006)

MC Lars -- The Graduate

It's great. Funny, well written nerdy rap. Guests MC Chris and others, and it's got a nice variety of songs. I'd recommend "21 Concepts," "Generic Crunk Rap," and "Space Game" off of it.

I just listened to that as well. Love the tracks "Cherry Cola", and "Dont Speak".

Also listened to the Academy Is album, it's pretty decent, short, but decent. Starts strong, and finishes strong, but the middle just kind of sags down in my opinion. Plus, the new Buckcherry album isn't half as bad as I was expecting. :)

Yes. That record is the shit.

Joshua Homme also produced the latest Millionaire album, which I posted. A whole other style, and way out there. The lead-singer is the bassist in EoDM; while Homme is the drummer of EoDM (and producer), and, of course, the genius behind Queens of the Stone Age.

I just got that one this weekend. It rocks, good stuff.

Lacuna Coil - Karmacode

That's the only new album I've picked up so far (although I'm gonna be getting the new Tool album tormorrow), but I've been enjoying it a lot and feel that it is definitely best of 2006 material.

Disappointed by Joshua Radin's "We Were Here". Thought he was capable of much more than that. Taking Back Sunday's was decent, a couple nice tracks. Gnarls Barkley was... unimpressive as well. I was expecting total awesomeness, but alas, not so much.

Yeah. Gnarls Barkley is simply "alright"; not amazing, like the UK and "alternative" music review sites are making it out to be.

I'm currently enjoying, I guess some demos or something from KT Tunstall, called Tracks In July. Grabbed it off OiNK, it's great stuff really.

EDIT: That Punk Goes 90's disc really sounds good. I didn't know a couple of them, but for the most part they're all well done. I especially enjoy the 3EB cover. You would not believe how much I enjoyed their first album... seriously.
Powers- Blackalicious
Is that the latest single from The Craft? I have to say that I was a little unimpressed. I think the problem is that Blazing Arrow is just that good that everything else pales in comparison. I feel the same way about 4th Dimensional Rocketships. You?

Today was a good day, picked up:

First Blood-Killafornia (Bad ass Hardcore, heavy, fast and brutal)
Pearl Jam-Pearl Jam
Pearl Jam-Ten
Thursday-A City by the Light Divided
Tool-10,000 Days

I still wanna pick up that Rebel Meets Rebel...anyone have any input on it?

Mobb Deep- Blood Money. And still listening to Ghostface Fishscale. Can't get enough of it. Also the leaked Lupe Fiasco- Food & Liquor.

Glen Phillips- Mr. Lemons

Any Glen or Toad the Wet Sprocket fans should pick this up ASAP.

Very good cover of "I Want a New Drug" the old Huey Lewis and the News song.

I'll have to look into this.

Listened to the Ataris "Welcome the Night". It was unmastered, so it could turn out better than what I heard, but if it's close to that... I'm not gonna like it. But it is a radical departure for them. They're going for something very different with this, can't explain what, but they are.

I'm going to go listen to some more while I whoop people at Yahoo Chess. L8.

Picked up MC Frontalot's Nerdcore Rising at the merch table after seeing him in concert this weekend. Even though I have half of the tracks from his previous (download-able) album, I'm happy with the purchase. Some songs, like Penny Arcade Theme, are almost unchanged, whereas tracks like Crime Spree and Special Delivery are totally different. All-in-all it's a nice release, although nothing can compare to the sound his backing band gets live.

Johnny Cash - Personal File

1071231403_B000F6YW08.01._SCLZZZZZZZ_V54439932_.jpg

This is coming out May 23rd. I got my hands on a copy and wow it is just great. Cash and a guitar, nothing fancy.

A little bit of info for the people who don't know about this.

Deep within the House of Cash, Johnny Cash’s recording studio, office suite, and museum in Hendersonville, Tennessee, behind the studio’s control room, was a small vault-like space in which many of his most prized possessions were stored. A collection of rare firearms dating back to the 18th Century, some personal effects of Jimmie Rodgers, artwork and letters from fans all over the world and much more was carefully arranged and locked away for safekeeping. Then there were the tapes. Hundreds of them. Demos from songwriters, album masters, multi-tracks of the ABC television series, and some boxes marked simply "Personal File." These are Johnny’s most intimate sessions, recorded mostly in 1973 and then subsequently at his leisure. Just a lone voice and an acoustic guitar, singing songs and telling stories about them. A concept that has since come to be thought of as revelatory but, as is evident in this stunning new set, is something Johnny Cash had been doing all along—if only for his personal file. This 2-CD collection features 49 previously unreleased recordings.

Jens Lekman - Oh You're So Silent, Jens.
The Knife - Deep Cuts
Dungen - Ta det lungt

this morning i realized that all of these bands are swedish...

Gnarls Barkley - St. Elsewhere

I know I'm two weeks late but it's pretty good. I'm not overly impressed but it's definitely interesting. Cee-lo's voice is so damn soulful.

has anyone heard hooray for dark matter by enemy? i just stumbled onto this band yesterday and heard a few tracks...i must get my hands on this.

Just picked up the "Dixie Chicks" new CD "Taking the Long Way" on a whim at Best Buy and its pretty good. I am 75% of the way through and every song has been good so far.
