What was the last CD you bought? - The Sequel

Last week I picked up the Kaiser Chiefs' CD: Your Truly, the Mob...or something like that, I got it becasue I like the song Ruby off Guitar Hero III. I like all the other songs now too that I've listened to them

Borders Rewards has a coupon for 40% off any single-disc album sale today and tomorrow.

I picked up:

The Apples in Stereo - New Magnetic Wonder
Beirut - The Flying Club Cup
Beirut - Gulag Orkestar
Jens Lekman - Night Falls Over Kortedala
Magnet - The Tourniquet
Rilo Kiley - The Execution of All Things

I couldn't resist going back to Borders for their 40% off sale.

Cat Power - Jukebox [Limited Edition]
Charlotte Gainsbourg - 5:55
Bob Dylan - Blonde on Blonde
Madlib - The Beat Konducta Vol. 1-2
My Brightest Diamond - Bring Me the Workhorse
The National - Boxer
Anna Ternheim - Anna Ternheim
M. Ward - Post-War

Two of my faves from last year.

I never had much luck finding good music at Borders, but it looks like you did alright...I may have to give them another shot.

That Borders sounds great.

Yeah, I was surprised, too! I never would've thought to look in Borders for music. Their shelf space is limited but their selection is pretty good as long as you're looking for albums that came out within the past year.

If you join their free rewards program you can get some nice deals. I just joined a few months ago and already I've received two coupons that discounted all single-disc CDs to $9.99 and this latest coupon that takes 40% off all single-disc CDs. I've done the math and either of those deals would make most albums cheaper than at Amazon or DeepDiscount. I got Boxer for $6!

I used the coupon too, got

Cat Power - "Jukebox (Deluxe Edition)"
Panda Bear - "Person Pitch"
Bought Love's Forever Changes yesterday.

For the fourth time.....
Nice. Did you grab Rhino's re-issue with the outtakes and bonus tracks?
Nice. Did you grab Rhino's re-issue with the outtakes and bonus tracks?
Nah, I've had that one for a while.

This one is from Rhino in LP style packaging. You've probably seen those around.
Had no idea there was one for Love. Had 2006 on the back.

I should have known about this.... hmm.

We got Radiohead's In Rainbows in on vinyl at work, which I immediately bought.

Also picked up the three new London After Midnight re-issues: Oddities, Psycho Magnet, and Selected Scenes From the End of the World.
Matt Costa- Unfamiliar Faces
Hey, cool...I'm not the only one who listens to Matt Costa.

I picked up the CD this week too.
Garbage's self-titled album
LOVE that Album. I only have the first (self-titled) and Absolute Garbage. I need the others STAT.

And yeah, Matt Costa is pretty awesome.
You picked this up? Did you enjoy it?
Haven't listened to it yet. I was too busy with Neko Case and some other stuff.

I will definitely play it a few times this coming week, though.

Dory Previn - We Are Children of Coincidence and Harpo Marx
Durutti Column - Circuses and Bread
Velvet Underground - White Light/White Heat

Coheed & Cambria - Live At La Zona Rosa
The Prize Fighter Inferno - My Brother's Blood Machine
Kepi Ghoulie - Happy Valentine's Day
Lemuria - The First Collection
Mike Hale - Broken With No Hope

Jack Johnson - Sleep through the Static

It's pretty good. It's a lot more mellow, similar to his first CD. Some of the reviews on Amazon indicate that some people are pretty disappointed in the more mellow sound, but having listened to his first CD a lot, I don't mind it.
Just thought I should give a heads-up to all the music lovers in here that Borders Rewards is yet again offering the coupon for 40% off any single-disc CD, valid through Wednesday (2/13).

Do the math and you'll find that this discount often beats Amazon or any other retailer.
just wish I could find something that I haven't picked up at the store the last time this coupon came up

Yeah, I feel you on that. I'm surprised the coupon's back in effect so soon! I've got a few in mind for tomorrow but that's only 'cause I forgot about them before. There's only one recent release on my wishlist and that's the new Shelby Lynne.

I wish the rap sections at my local stores were bigger than 3 feet across...

You can use it on up to 3 CDs, as well. Nice.

You can use the coupon multiple times, too! Given their strict fine print, I used to think that they kept a record of whether you used the coupon and tied it to your rewards account. But they don't at all. I was able to use the coupon at two different stores and twice at the same location.

shit, atleast you have a rap/hip hop section, they don't have shit at the closest one. If I get anything from there its usually jazz or indie folk

The Strokes- First Impressions of Earth
I really like the band. Only thing I need from them is the European import of their first album.

Just got back from Borders. Amazingly, their copy of Clare and the Reasons' The Movie was gone. I guess there's actually another fan out there! Here's what I did find:

Nicole Atkins - Neptune City
Bettye LaVette - I've Got My Own Hell to Raise
Oh No - Dr. No's Oxperiment
M. Ward - Transfiguration of Vincent

Never heard of M. Ward but the other three buys are solid buys. Neptune City surprised me, saw a picture of her and went "yeah, someone needs to stop looking like Fiona Apple" but the music was great. I've Got My Own Hell to Raise is frankly one of the greatest cover albums ever...and its by one of the more under-rated singers of all-time

would freak out if I ever saw an Oh No album at a Borders
