What was the last CD you bought? - The Sequel

The excellent new Silversun Pickups album, Swoon, is only $3.99 in the Amazon MP3 store this week.

^ Silversun Pickups = good CD, picked it up from BB for $7.99 this week. They remind me a lot of old Smashing Pumpkins with a little mix of Sonic Youth.

Anyone checking out Record Store Day at their local independent store? Looks like lotsa exclusive vinyl, CD's, t-shirts and some free swag to go along with those. Ima have to head down to Dimple Records in Sac and see if there anything worth picking up.

yeah, the single from the silversun pickups sounds a lot like smashing pumpkins... I liked the song so i grabbed the disc at target for 8 bucks. I didn't love the last album but figured I'd give them one more go.

Record Store Day was pretty friggin' cool. If you guys have an Independent music store in your area that's participating and is still open, get out there today!

Free swag I picked up included 5 CD's full of songs from indie labels and bands, DVD of HBO's True Blood ep. 1, Beatles lithograph and assorted posters, Kings of Leon and Hollywood Undead 7" singles, Fat Possom Records red vinyl 7", 331/3 exclusive Record Store Day Album feat. a variety of artists, AC/DC calendar, Beastie Boys turntable cover, mouse pad, etc. all stuffed into a reusable shopping bag.

All in all, pretty frickin sweet freebies.

I'm loving it. Very glad I got it. There is a reason I check the HotTopic site for CDs, anything good, the average shopper there won't buy, so it hits clearance fast. Ended up using a coupon to get it for $9 shipped. :D

Just rebought Grendel - Prescription: Medicine after having my previous order for it magically get canceled.

All on vinyl...

Pavement - Live In Germany
Silver Mt. Zion - Horses In The Sky
The Sea And Cake - Car Alarm
Dirty Three - Horse Stories
Balmorhea - All Is Wild, All Is Silent

Mini rant:
The Balmorhea record comes in one of those silly-ass printed cardboard inner sleeves, and it was wedged in there so well that it took me a good 15 minutes just to get the damn thing out without touching the grooves. Annoying!

^ One of my favorites. :D

Jane's Addiction - Ritual De Lo Habitual (prepping for NINJA!!!!)

Just saw Grendel at the Kinetik Fest last week...they were great live. Much better than I was expecting, actually.
Medicide
is good, Harsh Generation is even better, IMO. The lead singer said they've got a new one in the works for later this year, too!
Eminem- relapse
Yeah yeah yeahs- It's Blitz
got them both yesterday
I thought It's Blitz was disappointing. But, like all their albums, it grows on you and somehow you end up loving it.

Green Day-21st Century Breakdown. Grabbed it on release. I like it a lot. I was worried how they could follow up American Idiot, but this was a damn fine follow up album.

Eminem-Relapse. Just grabbed it today.

Also, while Dave Matthew's Band's new album doesn't come out until next week, it's up for free streaming at Pandora now.

U2 - No Line on the Horizon.

Really wish I hadn't.. Had to go back and listen to Joshua Tree like 5 times after just to get the sound out of my ears.
