What would you add to Rock Band 2?
Turntables.
Get two of them with a microphone and you've got Beck Hero.

Another idea, be able to trade/sell logos and designs like in Forza. Would be cool to have a virtual merch shop, especially if your band got some of the profits.

The Stone Roses

oh yeah...

and Dio!!!!

(seriously Rocks the 80s is my favorite gh game - mainly due to having Dio!)

honestly, if they add more recent music, I'll just stick to rb1. I have zero interest in stupid crap like fall out boy, coheed and cambria, linkin park, or any of those bands like that. It makes more sense to put in more classics that have much wider appeal, especially if they want to bring in new players to buy the bundles for sequels.

The option to have a guitarist or drummer double as singer would probably be the one thing I want to see the most. Whenever they get around to putting out the mic stand it'll be possble as long as whoever's singing doesn't mind looking like an ass trying to make clicking sounds with their mouth for the tambourine and cowbell sections.

a veto button for live because every time i get on, the only song anyone wants to play is welcome home ..... *shudder* chohed and cambria

I want to see a feature that scans tracks off the player's hard drive, builds game sequences for them and essentially let's the player rock out to whatever the fuck they want.

The sequences wouldn't be as polished as the handmade ones of course, but as a side feature it would be completely kick-ass. Anyone who listens to obscure bands with no chance of getting on Rock Band would surely appreciate it.

they should put in some foreign metal, like sonata arctica or norther. also, they could let you choose either lead or rhythm guitar in addition to just guitar or bass

wolf and raven - sonata arctica
omen - norther

From what I have read while waiting for my game to arrive:

1. more durable instruments.
2. free drumming section.

I would like to see a double bass pedal. (Make it more durable while you're at it.) Have a toggleable option in one of the menus to turn double bass pedal on or off. OFF: Works like it does now, down=bass drum. ON: Down is a hit and up is a hit.

There are real drum pedals that work this way. I also assume most of the bands have a double bass drum in some form or another, and it kind of sucks to have to play with a single.
FUNK damnit! There's more to the music world than metal! Expand those horizons Harmonix!
And to add to that, maybe they should put in some... METAL, there are hardly any songs you can even classify as metal, I agree with what someone else said MORE DIO, and maybe some hair metal like Poison or Warrant, even some GNR would do me good...

BIGGER fuckING ROCK BAND!

As In the addition of rhythm and lead guitarist alongside a bassist. Also support for both vocals and guitar at once, since it sucks when trying to focus on a guitar solo and blowing into the mic all at once (I'm looking at you "Ride the Lightning"). Either that or back up vocals so someone can do the cowbelling or go along with those songs that usually have two different vocals.

Also I echo the statements of better strum bar for the guitar.

Rock Band 2: Queen Edition w/ keyboard

Seriously, I NEED Queen DLC, and most of their stuff is so keyboard heavy. I wouldn't mind seeing some Elton John or Billy Joel either...

Bands online, with band world tour online.

Characters that can play any instrument, within the same band.

Play (set) lists, so you can play through your favorite songs without having to go back to the selection screen and scroll for them.

I love the idea of background/duet vocals. It would be cool if each instrument could have a connection for a headset on it somewhere, to help with this, or to make it a little easier for people to do a one man band.

Ability to toggle cowbell/tambourine on and off for one man band, or for those that just get sick of hitting the mic against various body parts...

If they do another bundle w/ all the instruments, they should include a mic stand.
Hammer ons and pull offs similar to that in guitar hero 3.
That is an EXCELLENT one... I have such trouble distinguishing those notes in RB, especially when things are going fast.

I wonder if they could patch that in the current game somehow. Would be nice.
-The ability to choose your own song when a song you have already played comes up in World Tour mode.
God damn it, yes!

*kicks "Maps" in the sack*

Not in any particular order but here are my ten most wanted. Most of which could be done via update in RB1:

1. Band World Tour Online - duh. No explanation needed.

2. DLC backwards compatible - simple, make sure the small fortune I'm spending on DLC works in future games.

3. Supergroups in Solo Tour - I have a drummer, a guitarist and a singer, why is only one used during Solo Tour and I get paired up with generic NPCs? If I'm on my guitar tour, toss in my drummer and vocalist to back me up instead of fake NPCs.

4. Gold Stars - they are damn addicting in GH, it is quite lame it is relegated to Expert only players in Rock Band. Bring 'em back to all the other difficulties as well. Give the less than phenoms something to shoot for.

5. Custom Setlists in Solo Tour - Ability to make a 2-10+ song set so I don't have to go back to the song list after every song I play to find what I want to play next. (GH needs this as well)

6. Better setlist organization - Having DLC at the bottom of a 60 song list is terrible design. Take a page from GHIII, make tabs for In Game, Bonus, and DLC for easy navigation. The DLC page needs to be sortable as well.

7. Bass Solo Tour - Why not? It may not be the most exciting 'Tour' but it would be something different. All the elements are there, I don't understand why this wasn't in the retail release.

8. Join Multiple Bands - I want the ability to keep my character(s) on a memory card and temporarily 'join' a friend's band for his World Tour instead of creating/storing a seperate character on his system.

9. Disallow tracks - the ability to check off certain songs you don't want showing up in random setlists. Keep the main game setlist off-limits, but allow me to check certain songs I've bought as DLC that I don't want thrown at me at random.

10. HO/PO Notes - These notes need to be more distinguishable. The tiny notes don't cut it. They need a glow or something.

bonus:

11. Camera support - other games do it, so why not become the total nerd rock star? Map my face to the character I create. Allow me to snap a photo for my band logo instead of some generic paint tools.

I'm not even going to touch hardware revisions. Other than the mic everything else is a cheap P.O.S. Once they get those right, then we can talk about tweaking them.

2 and 3 - I wholeheartedly agree and hope this is implemented.
6. If you hit the yellow button it changes how the songs are sorted - by date released, type, difficulty, etc. It doesn't just throw DLC at the end, or or we talking a different thing?
8. I keep my game on memory card and have no problem joining my girlfriends band when we play together. I didn't think this was an issue

Good list otherwise.
Hammer ons and pull offs similar to that in guitar hero 3.
I haven't played GH3. How does it display them?

Well, in rock band you have to do hammer ons and pull offs right when the note is on the fret bar thing on the bottom, but in GH3 you can hit it any time you want before the note comes. (If that makes any sence)

more skynyrd

also as someone mentioned previously, something so the drums sound different amongst the pads. the sound of a horse galloping on cobblestone streets over and over and over is annoying, and repetative

the biggest thing though, online world tour
A turntable for them rap-rock songs.
That would be cool. Maybe you should patent the idea and sell a new game concept called something like RapStar. It could be a bundle with mic and turntable. And with preorders you would get a necklace with a hood ornament on it!
I haven't played GH3. How does it display them?
They glow white in the middle. Regular notes don't glow and the white in the middle has a black circle around it. They're very easy to see.

^

agreed. I have only played rockband @ bestbuy but the graphics compared to gh3 are horrible. I would change the whole look to the notes and make it easier to see HOPO's. That being said its a music game it really doesn't need to much change...just keep delivering quality songs w/ some challenging charts to keep the hardcore players happy.

Being able to take your character and drop in and drop out of asomeone else's band is a great idea.

Other than that I'd vote for a crash cymbal and high hat add-on for the drum kit. At least one or the other.

I do like the idea of being able to "turn off" DLC in certain modes without actually deleting it off the hard drive. Although the patch (and the addition of DLC every week) has greatly reduced the same song popping up over and over for me, I'd still like to be able to play through a mystery set without having ...And Justice For All pop up after two other lengthy tunes.

Has anyone tried to cover the pads with a softer material (felt, etc.)? I thought that Cheapy or Wombat mentioned something about it, but I could be wrong.

This is one of the main reasons that I've been putting off ordering the drums. The noise factor.

I think he said the Mrs. made him cover the sticks with some foam. I don't know what the problem is with the drums, but if you're finding the pad tapping sound too annoying, you're either playing too hard or you don't have the volume turned up loud enough.

Cheapy said something about how his wife put the pads used to stop lactating drips on the end of his drumsticks to soften the sounds...

I've always wanted to type something about lactating and drumming and thanks to CheapyD I've just been given that chance!
