What XBLA Games Have You Purchased and Regreted?
Pretty much everything but Uno and Pacman CE. I can get bored with games easily. This is why I will never fully support digital download media. I wish i could just 'trade them in' for MS points or something.
where'd you get the cool animated user bar?
Tmnt 1989
That one is a close 2nd for me. I played it through once, but it was just too easy (though the achievements require some skill). They needed to allow you to reduce the # of continues or something.

But then it's like "well I only spent $5 on it" and I used 200 points from the Gold Vision pack, so really it was $2.50 for me.

3D Ultra Mini Golf Adventures or whatever the fuck bullshit name it is. I played it once or twice and fucking despise it.

I love the idea of xbla so always like to get new games, though many of them have not really gotten me excited to play them except for Cloning Clyde. So the ones I most regret..

Small arms.. just annoying to play
3d golf... felt so cheap
worms..... no one to play with and its just to long for turns
SF2...i sucked playing it back in the day. with a bad controller i'm even worse

Just Spyglass board games. Chess and Checkers is alright but the other board games blow. At least I got all 200 points from thanks to my boosting buddy Scobie.

Glad I read this thread. I was under the impression that Small Arms was good. Guess not and I'll pass. So far I haven't regretted any. TMNT is fairly easy to find somebody online and is a blast to play regardless. I want more TMNT arcade games.

I own a bunch of XBLA games, some that i havent even played yet i only have 1 regret.....

fuckING ASSAULT HEROES!

I bought the game for co-op and it never worked not fucking once. Me and my friend both bought it for $10 and could never get in on a single damn game.

I hate assault heroes with a passion for that >_>

other than that though i enjoy most of my arcade games even if i play through them once and never again.

Way i look at it, we used to use quarters to try to beat these damn things, and now we pay a small flat fee to play it an unlimited amount of time with online play and worldwide leaderboards.

1989 TMNT . Completely forgot about that game. Was short and fun for like a week before i realized that A). I didn't even like the Ninja Turtles that much at all and B). The game was trash. Yeah. I didn't even have childhood meories of it being great ( well before my time ) so I was an idiot for buying it .

First off I have no idea how anyone could regret Castlevania. Best game on XBLA hands down. Don't judge it by the demo because the demo isn't even really part of the game. My dissapointments though are

small arms - was so hyped for this game and then never got into it.

doom- just not as fun as I remembered though multiplayer wasn't bad for the little bit I played it.

catan - bought the hype, not really for me.

assault heroes - I wanted so bad to like this game but I couldn't

bomberman - not as fun as I remembered bomberman being.

marathon - heard lots of good things, games way too damn confusing and no one is ever playing online when I go to search for a match.

other than that I have a few small dissapointments like worms not being as good as it should have but the games I listed I almost never play because I just plain didn't like.

Roboblitz - isn't that the name? I think that was kind of during the trickling out original content phase and i was gungho to support it to encourage more. The game, however, is a one-evening distraction. Bleh.

Small Arms -- me & my friends are huge Smash Bros fans so we thought we'd enjoy this. Lesson learned, stick with the name-brand goodness.

Worms HD - biggest regret. I never got to play the original, loved Scorched Earth and I was *SURE* a friend of mine who was a Worms freak on PC would get it too. That didnt happen and the single player was really meh. The game doesnt have the magic of Scorched Earth and this is my worst impulse buy considering I have played some of the demos I keep but never intend to buy a lot more. This is the only game I wish I could get my points back on.

Small Arms - Yup, great concept poor execution and definitely lacking some final polish as far as gameplay goes. Its still a great game to show off to people and get them interested in the kinds of concepts that Live Arcade can represent. It's never failed to get people to take Live Arcade a bit more seriously for original concepts rather than just a place for "old crap games". Which is why I really bought it for. With free points. Just wish it was more fun for myself to play.

Alien Hominid - Was sure this was going to be fun despite the lack of online co-op which I was still really hoping for. Turned out not too much fun, very hard in single player (but seems perfect for co-op) which makes it all the more repetitive.
None

I demo games and read reviews before I buy them
Same here.

Love every game I've bought so far and hope to keep it that way.

I'm considering buying POP, but don't know if I'll regret it so I'm holding off on it.

There are a few games I have that aren't so great, but I can't complain because I didn't pay for them. Would've never bought them otherwise, but can't resist free.

Wow, Worms has to be my most played and most worth-it game so far . I haven't played it too much recently and didn't pay for the extra backgrounds, but the main game was worth it and made for a nice (but not impossible) challenge to complete all the single-player levels. I played all of one game on XBL to get the achievement for that - I wish more games were like that and did not require assloads of XBL play to get achievements. But it is a fun game for me and the kids to play. Now that I have 3 controllers we need to play it some more.

I haven't really regretted aything I've bought so far. I'm glad to have demos to try out. I'm disappointed my kids didn't get into Carcasonne like I thought they would (it was the reason I got the 3rd controller) and I haven't played it much myself, but I don't regret it. I'm considering getting Catan.

I haven't enjoyed Bomberman as much as I thought I would, but I wouldn't say I regret it. I got more than $5 worth of fun out of Smash TV certainly, as did I get $10 worth of fun out of Assault Heroes, so I don't think they deserve too much crap.

As far as regrets, I don't really have any. I got Joust for free and I hate it, though. I wish I could expunge it from my account so that all record of having played it would be gone. Stupid Joust.
Some genius though it would be a good idea to only allow you to play the Richter part (which isn't even SOTN, it's based off of Dracula X: Bloodlines), SOTN plays much different once you're Alucard.
The Castlevania demo is 15 minutes long. You can kill Dracula as Richter in the first 2 minutes and then go onto the regular game. I actually was able to beat the first boss fight, Slogra & Gaibon (sp?) before my time ran out.

I actually played that first fight in the demo over and over, and when I finally beat Dracula without getting hit, and without using subweapons, THATS when I bought the game, lol. But man, not being able to skip the 'Miserable pile of secrets' cutscene got ooold.

Doing that gets you an acheivement and gives you higher starting stats as Alucard. ;)

Madd Traxx, I liked demo, I played it straight for like 3 hours. Beat everything not quite all golds but never went back to it yet.

I don't get the Joust hate. Joust is Joust (ie, exactly what I expected) - and it has a 2 player mode, which my kids enjoy. I got the code in a clearanced 3-month XBL pack, but I would have bought it. That was one of my favorite arcade games and I spent WAY more than $5 on it back then ;). I'm not going to play it a ton, but like Dig Dug, it is nice to have.

People are wrong about TMNT. If you get four CAGs together who like to help each other get achivement points it's awesome. I've beaten that game at least 10-15 times by now. If you need help with getting a few achivements in that game feel free to give me a shout out if you're on my friends list.

Agreed. TMNT is one of my favorite Live Arcade games and a steal at 400 points.

It also has just the right amount of continues for multiplayer. I can't stand when games like Double Dragon and Golden Axe have unlimited continues, it really hurts the replay value.
actually, I think the game is well made and looks great, but I never enjoyed it.
Ditto.

All my games i dont like i didnt pay for. Either were free codes with XBL or Vision or For Registering.

Out of all my XBL games though the only one i actually feel was worth the money was Castlevania. Even though it had the worst Demo Ever. if it had actually included some of the game i wouldve bough along time ago. I just started the Inverted Castle Last night and i am jsu tshy of 8 hours. So anyone who doesnt have this game its a must buy.

And like someone else stated about Outpost Kolaki X. i liked the demo but then the game got rediculously hard and i was only like 3-4 missions in. So its not hated becasue it sucks but becasue its so difficult.

street fighter 2 that game that was free the poker one i bought it a day after it stopped being free cause i was on vacation

Street Fighter 2 - played this game way too much now, and the 360 controller is not great for playing it.

Contra - not as good as I remember, at least when I got a free copy in the Old Spice challange I could give it to a friend and could co-op for some extra nerd points.

Sadly, I regret purchasing Catan. Amazing game, but there's just something missing if you're not playing right next to some friends.

I tried the assault heroes demo and loved it. Guess if you don't like shooters, it wouldn't be your bag. I would love to see a game like Smash TV, or better yet, Guwange, with a slick new HD engine.

Gauntlet. Blah. It was one of the two games I bought right when I got the console (along with Smash TV, which was good). It's just not fun, multiplayer or not.

SFII is more of a if-I-knew-then-what-I-know-now regret. At the time I thought it was ok though.

Double Dragon and Golden Axe require less than one continue to beat (most of the time none) so I don't see how having unlimited continues negatively impacts the game.

As far as answering the question in the OP, the only purchase I regret is buying XBLA unplugged.

street fighter II. The online thing was fun for a second but was pretty much broken. I don't think I got my $10 worth. I'm gonna go ahead and include Totemball too, since it was a selling point of the camera. That game is fucking awful.

I've been very fortunate otherwise and would rebuy any of the other titles I've payed for.

see thats the thing though, I absolutely love shooters. I wanted to like assault heroes so bad but for some reason I just don't.

When I say continues I mean extra lives in general. Arcade games need to have a limited amount of extra lives to remain interesting and somewhat challenging. The same way any normal retail game would get boring as hell if you could take unlimited hits.

How many lives should depend on how hard the game is.

Wow, I didn't really think that Alien Hominid or Outpost Kaloki X were that hard. You can just set the difficulty to Easy in AH if you really need it, becuase then you have 7 lives and 7 continues. Also, you just have to duck a lot and learn to charge your gun(something that I could have used when I started playing it). As for Outpost Kaloki X, the first missions were so easy because it was pretty much a tutorial, then you just have to look at your objectives and get them done. Sure, I found it annoying to fail a 30 minute mission once, but you can always just check a guide and get some pointers.

And, even though I got them for free in XBLA unplugged, I would also like to add that I regret Geometry Wars and Wik. GW was kinda fun, but just never got good at it. Then Wik was just kinda boring, and I just had better, more exciting games to play instead.

I have to say Gauntlet, Street Fighter II, Smash TV and Robotron. Mostly due to the fact that I just don't play them. SFII is a bitch to play. I played the others a lot when I first got them but keep going back to Geometry Wars. Mortal Kombat 3 is border line. I will be geting demos from now on.

I did like the demo of the pinball game so when I get the points I will get it. I want to try Sonic, Golden Axe, Worms and now I'm questioning Double Dragon.

What would be great is if they added some of the old Marvel arcade games from back in the 90's. I loved them. Some one I worked with bought the Captin America game for the Super NES. 3 of us could not make it past the first 2 or 3 levels when we were drunk. The next day when we were sober we had no trouble at all. If only we would have just went to walmart and playd the arcade version drunk.

May edit adding more when I get more points.

Small Arms. Ambitious, and I respect that, but it's really hard to (successfully) simplify that type of game into an XBL Arcade game.

I finally have a game a actually regret buying: Rush 'N Attack. That game is the complete opposite of fun, and the achievements are hard as hell!.

i don't understand why everyone hates small arms, i got that on day one and i really enjoy it. I think both the single player and multiplayer are quite fun

Alien Hominid - Beat it, never played it again.
Assault Hereos - " " " "
MAD TRACKS - " " " " " EXCEPT- It was a bad game.
The other two were Grrrrrreat!
