What's in the PS Store (5/31/16): Neon Chrome, Oxenfree, Primal, There Came an Echo, Plague Inc, & More!

Yeah, that SNK "sale" is pretty underwhelming. Tempted to get Phantasy Star Portable 2 for $16 though...not a bad price at all.

I will definitely give MAG a try, too.

Even more underwhelming when you consider you have to be a plus member. Pretty redunkulous that you have to pay $50 a year just to get a crappy 20% off.

damn it i knew i should have waited on sonic adventure not too jazzed about the snk stuff though especially since theyre supposed to have something coming out next year some kind of collection with online vs and coop mp.

I have heard that even at the reduced price Sonic Adventure aint worth it.

the game definetly didnt age well at all. i dont remember the game being that buggy when it was on the dreamcast but ive fallen through floors more than once on the very first level or gone through walls. that aside i really liked alot of the music for the game so its not that bad of a purchase but id have been so much happier with it at 4.99.

Magus, I know you hate Plus and think it's a rip off, but give it up already. You're not just paying $50 to get a crappy 20% off. The topic has been debated in detail in other threads. You crap on Plus every chance you get. Be glad that Sony is giving ANYTHING off at all. They could just give plus members the shaft.

yawn, they need to get to the better, newer neogeo games quickly. I feel like every neogeo collection that's been released in the past few years has those games and at cheaper prices.

Definitely getting Afterburner Climax!

I was not trying to make the case for Plus members as I was everyone else. I was more trying to argue that its crap if you do not have plus you do not get many deals anymore, plus was not supposed to effect normal members but 90% of the deals are for Plus members now and if you are not a Plus member you are left out in the cold. Very similar to what MS did with live and its crap there too. 20% is just such a sneeze at amount so again it really seems right for it to be 20% off for non plus members and something a bit more for plus members. Everyone gets a deal and Plus members get something worth while.

As for me crapping on Plus every chance. Not true, look up just a little bit and see where I said Sam and Max was a great addition. I also think that Plus is great for new PSN members as well, it just sucked for anyone that bought more then a few games going in to it. Just because I am vocal about what is wrong with the service does not mean I am not giving it credit for what it does right....problem is that people generally ignore positive posts like that.

I see. Sony still offers discounts to non-plus members, but they aren't as frequent. I have no problem with Sony's FREE membership members being left out in the cold.

1 positive to 41 negatives doesn't mean you still don't crap on Plus. ;)

Ok two things here. First while you may not have a problem with them leaving non plus members out I do. They painted plus as an add on to PSN that would not change the current format of the platform. They stressed that nothing would change if you remain free, the only difference is if you are a plus member you get free games and services. Now it seems that is not true. This whole thing just strikes me as they see Plus members getting antsy and upset and know they need to do something, so instead of offering us a few big games or sales they instead strip basic users of their specials and give them to us(which is crappy for us and crappy for them). Sony has shown a lot of boneheadedness this gen, especially when it comes to pricing...so this really is not that much of a surprise. With MS offering their users 50% off on big name games every week and with Steam without a fee, Sony making you pay for 20% off on old SNK games...yeah it just aint enough.

Second I hardly think the complaints have been that often, I think it seems more like you enjoy the service and are getting your panties in a bunch that I have some issues.

Either way this is getting side tracked from the topic at hand so feel free to get in a response and then I am going to let this drop.

...how many (and how often) did you get PSOne classics for $3 before the days of PS Plus?

Here's what I'm asking: give us examples of some things that Plus users have gotten that would have otherwise gone to regular users of PSN. I can't think of much, if anything.

Free minis? nope.
Hour demos of DD games? nope.
Half price PSOne imports? nope.
Discounted Neo Geo titles? Well, that's def. a no since they haven't even been released to this point.
Misc. discounts on newly released games? nope.

So what have I gotten as a Plus user that was deprived of you?

Two things then. They haven't changed anything from the platform. If you took away Plus right now, you would have the same thing as we had before. Similar sales, open to everyone, etc. You know yourself Sony offers 4 "big" sales a year, and they have continued to do just that, and to keep it open to ALL users.

Would you prefer for Sony to offer 0% off on the SNK games? They could do that if you like. Microsoft has the luxury of offering their users 50% off of their "big name" games each week because of the userbase they have, along with the fact that you have to be a gold member to get 90% of the discounts out there. Why is it you have an issue with Plus, yet, not with paying for Xbox Live? In order to get many of the discounts, you MUST be a gold member on Live. How is that any different here from being a plus member to get a discount? You pay for Live, you get a discount on certain games. You pay for Plus, you get a discount on certain games.

It's been pretty often across topics. I'm not the only one that sees this. It's cool though. You're unhappy and you have a right to complain.

Back on topic. I just don't know if I can justify any of the SNK games, even with the discount. I can get all of these elsewhere on a single disc for cheaper.

I will counter with how many of the PS Classics are really worth $3 still? They have done several at that price now and in general the response has been that it is not worth the price. I will also counter with the fact that when PS+ first started Sony was giving PS Classics to plus members for free. It is part of why many feel upset. Because at first PS+ was full release games, a PSclassic and a mini....now its more like a mini and every once and awhile a full release game. It makes it feel a lot like bait and switch(I actually listened to a podcast discussing PSN named that the other day). I am sorry if you feel differently Myke, but to most of the rest of us Minis and $3 sales on PS Classics are worthless. A 1 hour demo....is still a demo. And again none of this address the fact that Plus has not been an add on the PSN service Sony pitched it as, its become more and more the main way to get deals on games.

As I have accused you of on the politics board before you are being short sighted because of your own belief system. It should show this that your freaking arguing with me despite the fact that I just said and have said many times before PSN is worth it, stuff like Sam and Max and Critter Crunch prove it. However, it being worth the $50 a year to most does not mean I feel Sony is taking the right steps to ensure it is worth it to everyone and that they are not ripping off basic PSN subscribers.

I want to stick to my word so I will not respond minus one small thing. Where did I ever say I did not have a problem with Xbox live? I have MAJOR problems with Xbox live because they charge you for basic online play and because they too are trying to charge for basic sales. Anyways, as much as I would love to respond to numerous other points I will drop it as I said I would(same for if Myke wants to get a response in, I will drop it with him too).

Nonsense. You said PSN users were deprived, I asked what they were deprived of...and you respond by deflecting the issue ('how many classics are worth $3 still?') and, citing zero evidence of how the PSN structure has changed for users, returned to the "...ripping off basic PSN subscribers" argument.

You're sticking to your guns despite no evidence. Poor form.

You know what I like about PSN Plus items I have to pay for? They're mine, I get to keep them. Those minis, those free PSN games, free PSOne Classics? They expire when my Plus sub expires. Anything I pay for I get to keep.

At any rate, we did get Crash Team Racing for free last week, and both Oddworld PSOne titles for free in November - so any argument that Plus users aren't getting a robust release schedule is overstated (note that those three titles are PSOne Classics). It's $50 a year, they've given us hundreds in content and more both in content and discounts. It's not my favorite thing each week, but it more than paid for itself within 2 months in terms of content.

You're more than entitled to your opinion, but that doesn't mean you're allowed to have an opinion go unchallenged when it's based on conjecture and you can't even elaborate on your most fundamental argument against it.

Fair enough. Keep in mind that Microsoft is a business. Who said you were entitled to free online play or basic sales? You pay for the service, you get to enjoy online play or discounts. It's their closed end system and they can do what they want with it (and there's not a thing you can do about it except cancel your service).

i was 1 of the 1's that said plus could shove it but now for a year subscription its worth cmon free sam& max and free full game trial of mag. plus is finally worth it 4 me

Apparently there's a bundle of those 10 neo geo games coming out on Jan 4,2011 for $79.99 which comes with a theme.

I wonder if this would be discounted further for PSN+ members.
You mean EST right?
PST. They usually update between 8-11 EST, if not later sometimes. Lately they've been on the ball, but Sony is on West Coast time when updating.

One thing though. Microsoft is NOT providing service for their "online" play. It's all P2P on the 360 which means its using OTHER peoples connections to host and play games. I'd be fine paying for servers, but when they don't provide shit and give us laggy as hell gameplay while charging for it. They can kiss my ass.
pull the lever, PSN monkey! i want my demos and $5 afterburner
Doesn't work that way. The rule of PSN is that if it's a good update it won't update till way in the night, a bad update and it comes in the afternoon. It's the Grace Chen rule.
According to the Dead Space Twitter the demo is supposed to be up at 4 PST. So I'd assume that's when the whole store will be updated.
Well hopefully it means there is a really good update on the way like Paco said, maybe a suprise Christmas sale or something. Chances are its just that flood of meh SNK titles taking them forever though.

Already playing the NFS:HP Super Sports Pack DLC... Hee hee.

Rei no Otaku is right, if you do a search in the Store, you'll probably find what you are wanting/waiting for.

Wow echochrome ii is $14.99 I thought it was gonna be same price as original.
Top Darts is $9.99

No demo for either game (at least not what I found via search function just now)

Wow, huge update. I estimated more than 20 sales just from briefly looking at it. Anyone know anything about Buzz Quiz Player? It's free (90 sample questions then you unlock other questions for a price) but is it supposed to be a full PSN game? Trophies?

Lara Croft and the Guardian of Light – Things That Go Boom Pack 2 – Permanent Price Change (PS3) (now $3.49, original price FREE)
Haha!!! Best deal of the week right there.

Some good demos and other stuff, might pick up Shank, still need to play the demo to see if it's worth buying.

And I agree with you lots of stuff to D/L, hope my ISP gets my bandwith issues fixed soon, getting 50% of my max speed sucks.

Well I snapped up Front Mission 3 and I was instantly reminded of why it is my all-time favorite TRPG: A well localized game teeming with political intrigue which treats the player like an adult. The giant mechs with motherfucking shotguns don't hurt either.

I was also completely surprised that the typical Square-Enix tax wasn't present and that it's actually $5.99 instead of $9.99. (also a hard copy is like $70-80 so that's fun!)

Are there no demos for any of the Neo Geo games? I'd like to at least see how they run. Not too interested in the current titles but once they start releasing some of the later KOFs, Garou,
WINDJAMMERS
etc., I'll start buying them up.

Definitely going to add FM3 to my backlog. I didn't like it at first but that game deserves another shot.

I played it and beat it when it released... dragged at first but pretty awesome later. Its still my fave in the series. Long ass game too.

Did you just challenge me Metaly? And I can tell you how they run. Emulation wise, this is the best rendition of the games. Far better then the PSP collections or PS2 collections. Better then the wii collection even. Has lots of cool stuff like the manual with the original artwork, the sound mode lets you listen to the soundtracks to all the games you own, you can save replays which are pretty good. However the online internet code is still crap. Still distance based, still need someone in your state or at most 3-5 states away from you. I've had some good fights, but a lot of shitty fights too. Good thing California is KOF central with many KOF players here or just south of the border which is close enough to play some decent online fights. Played ten games with someone in california and it was fun.

The games don't have input delays or messed up controls either like PSone classics snk ports where inputs are quite a bit off on the PS3.
