There was a PSP port of Xi called Xi Coliseum, which is what I'm guessing that demo is for.
No, it's the PS1 version that's playable on the PSP and PS3, so as I said it's one of the only (if not THE only) PS1 demo available on the PSN around the world. So like I said, it would be cool if they would mine the old catalog and start doing PS1 demos for the games they release on the PSN, probably would help sales for games that people want to try before they buy.
I still don't get all the hype for re-releasing this game.
Maybe if they polished it, or even better a brand new sequel.
I can't stand playing old ass ps1 games on the ps3.
Just my 0.02
After playing it 2-3 years ago, I asked the same question, but more to the point of I thought it was an over hyped game, it had some nice points (combat, music) to it but (wished I had my original breakdown of the game, that I hit all key points) to make a long story short, it was too massive in story (that was cut short because of development limitations), too massive in scope, (I mean seriously a 6 part game and starting on part 5, that the creator cannot even finish the part of the story he's trying to do).
And even when Xenosaga came out to try and correct and flesh out some of the old ideas that he created to finish what he started (but not named the same) he failed then too, because he wanted to tell too much and couldn't fit it into the game then either (plus if you look back into the original timeline for Xenosaga you'll see he totally missed his mark for what he wanted to tell in those 3 games as well because of too much to tell and not being able to do it.
I applaud the fans who really like it (because they were able to tolerate and overlook the faults it has more than I was and enjoy it more), I mean for a Sci-Fi RPG it has some merits, but with it being a totally incoherent mess of not enough time to tell its story, the fact that the second disc is a total disaster since they ran out of time when developing it (talking heads and a reel of 'best of' fights, all the way through endgame) it feels to me like a game that needed near unlimited budget and time, and never did get it, and even when given the second chance to do it over again, right this time, the creator still couldn't get it done right...
Anyway enough ranting, I'm glad that those who've been waiting for it finally get to have a chance to play it, I guess that's worth enough to be what really matters.
Edit: I like how Wrencrest and I interpreted Brainberry's comments on the game so differently. I was going in depth on the game itself and not on the quality of looks, etc., heh.
