I liked Stranglehold, however I noticed a few slowdown/stop moments when the action got intense. I hope they fixed that since it did get annoying to all of a sudden be blasting and diving and then right in the middle of it get a s-l-o-w-d-o-w-n. Also I like it just as much as Max Payne right now. We'll see if this changes when the full game is out. How is the 360 version to anyone that has played it? Do you get the same slow down moments?
The 360 version has less slowdown but more screen tearing as V-Sync is turned off.

On the PS3 demo, it's turned on.
Other than that, they're identical.

This could change in the retail version.

Yeah I hope they fix the slowdowns that is only complaint I really had about it. Everything else was awesome, although I'd like a jump button like in Max Payne. (What is up with devs getting rid of the jump button?)

I just played throught the stranglehold demo, fully prepared for dissappointment.... wow, that game is a blast.

The gameplay is quite varied (normal-time, tequila-time, showdown, sniper-mode). Simple learning curve, the game demo was just fun from the word go.

While I wouldn't call the storyline deep (from what I can tell from demo), but the cheezy-cop-movie-goodness of it had laughing, in a good way. I thought the voice acting was fairly good too.

I must say that this is the most cinematic game I have seen. It seemlessly jumps in and out of cutscenes. I rarely set the controller down saying "ok, this cutscene mode", they generally just felt like part of the game play.

I did not play Max Payne, and I am sure there are other games it ripped off, but this is put together as a nice package.

Definitely a game I can see putting in the hands of my non-gamer buddies (still on last gen, generally only buy madden, nhl, and gta games), and watching instant next-gen gratification on their faces.

Just my $0.02.

Never noticed any slowdown in the Stranglehold demo, but I did notice a couple of bugs in the NBA Live demo. It froze once when I tried an alley-oop and once, the Cavs coach was yellow, like he had paint poured on him just before the game started.

played through some of the stranglehold demo, hopefully some things go a lot smoother in the retail copy, but overall I thought it was pretty cool.

The precision aim was cool with a shot to the balls, I had a laugh riot over that. The "standoff" session was pretty awesome too, I wasn't expecting that. It does remind me a lot of Max Payne, so it gets a thumbs-up from me :D

What I thought looked hilarious and what they should've fixed was his animation when sliding across tables n' stuff. He's all rigid and nothing moves, so it's looks hilarious sliding back and forth, that was one thing I immediately noticed.

HA HA same. First thing I did when I started the demo for the first time was try and grab those two guns sitting on the counter at the start. I was like WTF QUIT SLIDING U NuB< LIEK OMG PICK THEM UP!!!111! HAX!!!@ Then I realized I already had full ammo....:whistle2:#

Finally found some slowdown, but I had to play the hard mode to find it. It was hard though, I was running low on health with the need to pull off stylish moves to regain some health.

Dunno why, but I get no sound in the NBA Live 08 demo--like none. Tried dl'ing and installing a couple of times, but can't get it to work. I am using component out w/Digital Audio out enabled, fwiw.

I may try to change to stereo out, but gee that's lame.

Oh that reminds me, the audio in Stranglehold seemed a bit....muffed. It wasn't crisp sounding to me, hopefully it's just b/c it's a demo

I've actually had the game stop because of how bad the slow down was. I was playing it in hard boiled difficulty and was diving all around with guys shooting and it slowed down so bad that it just stopped. I laid the the controller down and waited. Once I did that for about 10 or so seconds it returned back to normal. THAT sucked hard, and I hope they fix that because that would ruin the game for me. To be running all around shooting and what not and the game just stop because of how bad the slow down was.

It stopped on me in normal right after the standoff scene, when i was running in between two guys. I hit the slow-mo and it started moving again :whistle2:k

I'll try the game out again and turn it up a notch, see if that helps :/

Now that is odd?:whistle2:k I might try that if/when it stops on me again.
Now that is odd?:whistle2:k I might try that if/when it stops on me again.
I was playing it right now on normal, was at the spot where you slide down the bar, decided to go back up and get the medpack and it froze for a second just running back there, lol

Audio still sounds a little off, not muffed, but like it's distant

golden pistols pwn and the preview video is awesome :D
Anyone try the submachine guns?
Kinda hidden near where the Golden Pistols are.
I'mma go look for it, im right in that area :p

edit: nevermind, I found them

Definitely some slowdown/stop moments I am glad I am not the only one to have this issue. I really hope they fix this, if not I'll be going back to Max Payne 2 for my bullet time needs.

Downloading a GT5 Prologue trailer from the Japan store - I forgot to mention that there's a Soul Calibur IV trailer that's been up for a few days as well.

Is it that same teaser trailer they showed awhile back?

Is that the U.S. or Europe? I can't tell anything from the link...

UK only.

LocoRoco Cocoreccho will arrive as part of Sony's PSN update next Thursday for the bargain price of £1.99.

Why so cheap? Because it's not a fully fledged game like the much-loved PSP title, but an interactive screensaver that, we assume, runs in the background of the PS3's XMB.

As we previously reported, this cut-down version of the game will be a single-player application controlled using the tilt functionality of the SixAxis.

The idea appears to remain the same - you tilt the level (this time by tiling the SixAxis) to gather the little LocoRoco blobs and guide them safely through physics-based obstacles and past blob-eating enemies.

Log onto the PS Store next Thursday with a credit card at the ready.

Tsk tsk.

Dang, I cannot believe the US seems to be an afterthought. What are the sales globally for the PS3?

I would think the US is one of the top selling markets.
What do you mean afterthought?
It seems like a majority of demos and videos come out on the PSN overseas (Japan/Europe). Now I know you can get into those stores, but I just keep it simple with my US account.

I know it is still relatively early in the lifecycle....but I would like some of this stuff on the same date.

1.93 is available right now... one ps3 user's system froze during the install don't know if it was just him, or a problem with the firmware. I think I might be a little patient with this one. Don't want any problems.

Expect some PSP themes to show up either this week or next. There's so far already roughly about 10 official ones already but only via regular internetz.

I hope they have themes for the PS3 as well soon, they have a ton of potential.

also hoping tommorow brings both SKATE (even though I'm getting it this friday) and some good PS1 titles.

Whaddya mean, "themes"?

Them's Xbox360 words hombre.

EDIT: Making a mountain out of a molehill, the PSP just got a firmware update that includes an *increase* in the number of PSN games playable on it. Praytell they actually give us a fucking PSX game or two tomorrow?
