A lot better then the last two weeks, I got to say. Only thing this week that really interests me is the Time Shift demo. It's getting mostly 7's score wise, which to me means mediocre. I'll d/l it later and try it out, from the looks of it though doesn't look like it's worth $60. I want the damn Folklore content damn it! Euro gets it, I hope we do as well.....
That'll be rectified early next year when it sells like crap and stores have to mark it down to sell the game.

To an extent, there's a slight chance we don't get it, since SCEA tends to not put a lot of big marketing or support into RPGs (since the majority of them, unless a Final Fantasy or Kingdom Hearts, just won't sell big). I even heard from a friend on another forum (who works for SCEA Santa Monica, he really does) that SCEA was originally going to skip out on Folklore since they felt it was something that wouldn't do too good in NA. Until one of the marketing people (or someone, forgot who) played the game, showed it to everyone else at SCEA, and they were convinced to bring it over.

To an extent, I think they should have gone ahead and tried to push the game more. The bad thing is it's a like it or hate it game (I know plenty of love it, but I know plenty who hate it too). They did release demos to the game (PSU and download), so I'm thinking they were just looking to get some sales.
That'll be rectified early next year when it sells like crap and stores have to mark it down to sell the game.
Genji 2 didn't really sell good and SCEA themselves never did an official pricecut on it. Some retailers marked it down themselves though to get rid of it.
Alright "THRUST!" is out. I think I still have it on PSX but for anyone that doesn't, good times here.

(If you didn't live with my old roommate for a semester back in 1997, you'd have no way of knowing that Twisted Metal 2 was his favorite game of all time and he'd play it constantly. The funny thing is, he never called it Twisted Metal 2, he simply called it, "THRUST!". Yes, in caps and everything. He was nuts. His explanation was that it was such an awesome game that it needed not only a cooler name, but that cooler name needed to be shouted in order to properly convey one's excitement about the game.)
Drunken TM2 was a staple in my college dorm. I haven't bought anything from the store yet, but that might be worth the couple bucks. The following games weren't near as good as TM2. Hopefully that same studio ends up doing the new TM coming to PS3 (thought I read somewhere that some of the same people were working on it).
the demo will help me decide if I want it or not since I'm barely interested in it but want it to be good.
Think I read it will be 2 or 3 levels long so it should give you a good idea about the game.

I wont mind if we are the last to get the content I just really want it. I'll buy it even if it's $9.99, although I doubt it will be more then $5 honestly. Yeah it is a love or hate game, and I really love it. I have a hard time seeing people hate it though but I can see why since having to play through same chapter twice could feel repetitive to some people. It doesn't to me though and it really ties the story together well like that IMO. I have to agree with you, I wish they would of hyped/pushed the game more though to help get sells. It's a shame when great games like this don't sell well because of not being pushed more and advertised.

You think if they release $7-8 worth of bullshit content for a game nobody in their right mind bought in the first place (The Godfather), they'd jolly well actually sell additional content for everything.

I also don't buy the "SCEE has to translate everything first" baseless apology from TMK. If every SCEJ title went through that channel, I'd understand...but that's not the case.

If every SCEJ title went through that channel, I'd understand...but that's not the case.
No, what I'm trying to say is, for a Japanese game, SCEA and SCEE seem to split the translations. For games that may appeal more to Europe, SCEE will handle the translation. For a game that may appeal more to NA, SCEA will handle the translation (Games like Hot Shots Tennis, Ape Escape 3, etc. have gone this route, while Rogue Galaxy, original Genji, etc. would to SCEA second). The process is like, SCEE picks up an SCEI game or content first. They translate it into multiple languages, make it work on PAL TVs, and so on. Once they are done, SCEA picks it up, removes the PAL stuff, multiple languages, changes some of the English for NA audiences, etc. and releases it. They usually prefer to wait on SCEE because translating a game mostly in English (along with removing stuff) is a lot easier and quicker than translating all of Japanese. It's the way SCE has worked for a while. They are planning to go more global with the approval process, but only select games have been apart of it currently and still far from being complete.

So, can you play the Japanese PS1 games?

I'm guessing yeah. I need to find a list of what games are available.

I saw Biohazard: DC and Alundra.

Yes you can.

There are over 140 PSX games in the JPN store, so you'll have to google a list. ;)

I have Alundra, Bealphareth, and Wild Arms. They also have tons of PSX ports of SNK fighters (mostly the KoF series, I think).

how can I get some money for japanese stuff... I'd like some fighters.
www.ncsx.com

It's $35 (I think) for 3000 yen worth of credit - they email you a PSN code for the amount. That's 5 PSX games.
hmm... may do this sometime. Probably a christmas gift for myself this year.

So my friend downloaded Castlevania, but we're having trouble sending it to my PSP. It says "the memory stick is locked". I have no idea what this means, since my PSP card is formatted and everything. Any tips?

I can see why Myke is so agitated.

I was hoping for Bushido Blade 2.

NCSX also sells dollars for the Hong Kong PSN store. They're a better deal (you can get 6 games instead of 5) although it's not as big as the JP store. Still, it gets updated much more frequently than the US store.

Seriously, what the fuck is SCEA doing? I want to give this company money, whether it be for PS1 games or more Folklore content but they are not allowing me to. It's mind boggling.

I know Rei it is pissing me the hell off. It's the game I want..... no need DLC for and instead of giving it to us, they are teasing us with it over in Japan/Euro ect. They already have DLC for Folklore, and not only that they are getting two more batches of DLC for it. While we sit here and twittle are thumbs still waiting for the first batch of DLC to arrive in the US Psn store. I added money to my account just for the DLC for Folklore and instead we get nothing. It's just hard to believe the US store has NOTHING compared to the other places, that not only have a shit load of PS1 games but are getting three batches of DLC for Folklore. :bomb:

I just watched the recent Uncharted trailer (again) and it looks so gorgeous graphically and damn fun to play.

I wish today was Thursday. Me need demo.

I'm truly expecting this to be nothing more than lip service, but there's a micron of a chance that it isn't. This is from the PS Blog post a few days ago about their recent new ad campaign:

Last year, we launched the PS3 with a campaign that become known as the “White Room” and we received a strong reaction to those ads for being provocative and demonstrating the PS3’s power. With those technology messages now firmly embedded, we wanted to move beyond the “power” message with a more high-energy, entertainment driven focus for the PS3. The games are here, the price point is now $399 and we wanted to make the news loud and clear. But we need to deliver that in a way that befits the PlayStation brand. And so, beyond the brilliant HD games that the PS3 delivers, you’ll also see a big focus behind the PS3’s Blu-ray movie capability and, for the first time, you’ll see a major focus behind the PLAYSTATION Network (did I mention online gaming is free on PS3??) and the exclusive gaming content available on the PLAYSTATION Store, as well as breakthrough services like Home. As Kim noted in her recent post, with so much brewing inside the PS3, the icons and characters of the PS3 world come to life in the vivid black onyx world of the PS3 and nearly burst out of its seams.

I'm not going to hold my breath, but at least that implicitly suggests they KNOW they've been a severe let down with PSN content thus far.

That is good to know. Although I'll believe it when I see it, it's nice to know that they do know they have been slacking on Psn and need to start focusing more on it and making it better. Thanks for the link mykev, we can only hope they start to bring some awesome shit over to us.
The selection is pretty unspectacular, but low on my personal priority list.
I disagree, I absolutely love the selection, but that's because it contains characters from many SCE games I love. I'll be honest, I love my avatar and never changed it. I'll probably never change it.
Can't wait to try Uncharted. Still don't think it's worth $60, but seems like a solid game that I'll own eventually.
I've seen people write this about several games lately, and I would like people to explain why they view certain titles this way. Is it a lack of features or what?

Because the game doesn't look that interesting?

I'm going to download the demo tomorrow to see what all the hype is about, but to me it screams mediocre.
