What's with the Milton Bradley DS and GBA Games?

It seems like in a lot of threads that a lot of fellow cags are always on the lookout for finding some of those milton bradley board games collections for the ds or gba and that surprises me since I always figured those games would be junk and not worth the money. I'm I missing something about these titles or what cause if they're any good I wouldn't mind getting them on a whim but I just always assumed they would be crap.

In short: they're crap.

REASON FOR WANTING IT: Some CAGs are collectors and/or completists who like to have every title for their favorite systems. One of the multi-game packs for the DS is the rarest DS game currently available for the system, so it's worth quite a bit to those who only want it to complete their collection.

REASON NOT TO BUY IT: The companies that put most of the new board game carts don't put quality anywhere near first, but if you REALLY want to play a certain game, you might enjoy it.

I bought the Uno/Skip-bo/Uno Attack for DS, and it makes me miss my Uno for GBC that I still have stored somewhere.

I also have Monopoly for GBC, which was mildly fun but the AI was a bit weak/odd. From what I've heard of the newer renditions of Monopoly is it's nigh impossible to play from all of the annoying "features" like making you watch the dice roll for every time without the option to skip over it...

There's a review title on Amazon for Monopoly/Boggle/Yahtzee/Battleship that sums it up nicely: "There's a reason it's out of print....."

The reason it's out of print is because shortly after it's initial run, Atari lost the rights to Hasbro games. :)

Anywhoo, I want to get the Uno/Skip-bo DS game, but since I have to have two carts for multi-player, I've passed every time I've seen it just because I'll have to get two copies... :(

The Boggle game is one of the best games on the DS!
I have almost 150 different Nintendo DS games, and this one gets played the most.

There is ONLY thing I don't like about it. It's that in the single card muliti-player game, everyone has to turn their DS off and re-download after EACH game.
That stinks. So I bought 4 copies! Problem solved.

I haven't played Monopoly or Yahtzee. Battleship is alright. I played it a few times.

Battleship and Yahtzee are all right. They're hard to mess up though. The only thing that would have been nice is if they allowed you to play Yahtzee via download play. It's not like it's any more complex than Battleship - so I don't understand why not.

The fact that you have to turn off the DS each time is quite annoying. I don't know why they did that.

Monopoly has some real flaws though. In fact, the way it auctions houses during a housing shortage almost makes it unplayable.

It is hard to find, but I got lucky. I found (and bought) 4 copies over a 5 month period. That is the best way to play multi-player.

I saw them in bargain bins everywhere and then a few months later they're going to $50+ on ebay. I think it has something to do with the fact that a lot of parents recognize the title and see it as a safe bet for their kids. That, and the fact that they are apparently collectibles.

They are not rare, and they are not collectible -- this is a misconception.

The challenge with these games is that they just came out within the past 2 months. Second, unlike the orig GBA versions, these support DS multi, as well as just having a DS label which speaks to parents and impusle buyers. Also, they are distributed wholesale style, so the distribution of these games to retail is different than what most people are used to. Being distributed thru the wholesale channels means that they don't end up in Gamestops, and parents who use Gamestop as a baby-sitter while they shop elsewhere can't find these games there, so they are pushing up the auction values.

I would not invest too much money in these, as they will be back out soon, given how lucrative these licenses are for the publishers.

It is a misconception that these are Atari licenses. They may have been at one time, but that is no longer the case. Apparently I don't know what I am talking about -- just call me a DS Noob.

Boggle was released in 2005! It is now 2008! It is rare.

No one ever says I am always right-- DOH.

Easy money says it gets a DS update within the year.

Well I really wanted Clue for my DS so I ended up getting the Clue/Mouse Trap/Perfection/Aggravation from DeepDiscount.

I did see a 2-Pack bundle of Battleship/Trouble/Sorry/Connect Four and Big Mutha Truckers for $29.99, so really then Battleship/Trouble/Sorry/Connect Four only ends up costing you ... $29.99.

The Monopoly/BattleShip/Boggle/Yahtzee package was distributed by Atari. I believe it was the last Hasbro licensed game they did. It is fairly rare to find in NA packaging... the rumor is that Atari dumped a lot of copies in AU for some reason...

The newer games (Clue, etc..) not so much...
Genesis/NES/SNES Monopoly was the best.
Cluedo.

Best Monopoly video game was on the PC. Monopoly Tycoon. My bro and I played it on our network every sunday afternoon for close to a year. Why they haven't brought this to the DS, I don't know. Very enjoyable to play single or multiplayer, campaign or sandlot. Especially sandlot. I guess they just aren't interested in my opinion.

I had picked up the Mono/BS/Boggle/Yahtzee game because it was supposed to be so underrated and collectable and blah blah blah. Multiplayer off one cart suxored. And come on, no save file for Monopoly?! That's just intellectually lazy and moronic. So I sold it to a fellow Cag.

Off-Topic. This review from EBGames.com is awesome.
