I think its kinda neat (But almost a little sad sometimes) to watch the decent of a fellow CAG.

You can see when fellow CAGs slowly stop caring about the site and start to post only because they're bored or they're having an uneventful phase in their life.

We've all seen it, a well respected poster eventually gets in a few arguments on here and next thing you know they've stooped to becoming what they hated in the first place.

There is a few people who come to mind that I've seen... and I was thinking you guys could post others...

My list of "Fallen from Grace" CAGs:

Quackzilla: Quack used to chime in with some knowledgeble stuff from time to time, but not really talking all that much. Lately he just trolls. It's kinda sad really, because you watch a very well respected CAG (in my eyes at least) turn into a complete troll. I used to read all of his posts, now he's three stupid posts away from an ignore list.

PAD: He used to have quite a bit to say, and he would say it elequently and could back it up with facts. Now he just trolls every random thread finding political arguements from anything. I could care less what he says now.

Rich: On my ignore list, and to get on my ignore list takes a special kind of dumbass. I think only him and electric troy are the only ones on my list. He just spouts retarded shit to hear himself talk. He could say anything of meaning and I dont even care anymore... I even skip over quoted messages of his without even a glance.

Do you guys have any CAGs you give the same treatment to?

I'm not trying to start a CAG war here, just kind wish that these guys would go back to the way they were. I liked them and cared what they had to say... but now every post is such flamebaiting bullshit I feel almost sorry that they feel they need to signify their exsistance with this garbage.

Guys, please.... stop. You were cool before.

Scorch: Scorch used to be quite an annoying troll, but now he's pretty toned down. He can get a little heated at times, but so do I... but he doesnt just post "Already Posted" and say retarded shit anymore just to annoy... so on a personal level, I've gone back to reading his posts.

just kidding. On the flip side, it's interesting to see different CAG'ers rise up.. example.. $hady and help1. Both used to be insanely annoying trolls, and now I read their posts. Quackzilla and PAD bicker like no other. Rich used to be okay, but his posts in that "someone stole my van" thread really brought him down.

//edit: and I know this is going to piss him off, and maybe some of you agree with me.. i've wanted to say this for a long time.. but gizmo, shut up. Ever since Giz started the "stupid employee/customer" thread and it took off big time, he's had somewhat of an ego for some reason or another.. it wasn't really that big of a deal, nearly every large forum has a "stupid employee/customer" story thread. He's okay most of the time, but lately he does nothing but flame and do "translations" of Slidecage's post using that annoying "normal to AOL 12 year old" translator. Oh, and hey, we get it, you used to work at GameCrazy.

Yea, I'll admit I've trolled... but it was usually stuff I felt irritated about.

Being on a forum of gamers, can be a little annoying at times... being that some can be a little cold.
 
I take each post as it comes. I don't maintain a long-standing image of any one poster, so I have no basis for being unduly impressed or disappointed by folks' posts. I figure, everybody types something stupid from time to time, when they're feeling goofy...and every now and then, even a dimwitted sot has something worthwhile to contribute to a discussion.

Even what you guys call trolls/trolling doesn't bother me that much. I would be surprised & gratified if a public forum were filled with considerate, insightful people.
 
Now, I'm not saying that any of them arent cool... or that in real life they arent stand-up guys...

Just that, Once in a while... you see a thread that gets out of hand... and then that CAG goes on a trolling spree for a few weeks... sometimes months... I've done it a little myself... but I've realized that life's to short to do that too much.

I'd just like to point it out, and hope that they would go back to being as cool as they were... I'd expect it from noobs... but if you've posted over 500 posts here, it really makes no sence.
 
What's interesting to note is that the 3 that you mentioned in the OP are all regular posters in the VS. forum. Their garbage is even worse in that forum but now it seems that more and more lately that they're bringing their crap into the other forums as well.
 
I agree with your OP Mooky, except for Rich who sometimes says shit I would say, but with less tact.

I would add GameDude as well.
 
I just take them as they come. sometimes Quackzillas uncontrollable rage makes me laugh at him, other times he just comes off as a prick.

That's the only guy I really notice on a consistent basis-- though Rick was being pretty tasteless in Whoknows' car thread.

I like Quackzilla. I see him as an antagonist of sorts. I don't take anything he says seriously and just chalk it up to the anonymity provided by the internet.

I agree with you on Rich. Sometimes he can be ok, but some times he is just a complete and utter asshole in a way that few can dream to be.
 
Rich can come off as an ass at times, but he's really just opinionated and outspoken in my view. The couple times I played against/talked to him on Live, he was a really cool guy.
 
Interesting thread, I think it could easily be taken the wrong way but Mooky's OP is worded in such a way that I know exactly what he means.

I've had avatars and sigs disabled for just about a year, which I would recommend to anybody. It forces you to identify a person by the content of their posts, and not by their sigs. Often times I'll know who posted something by the style in which it is written, without even looking left to their username.

So yeah, I've seen a lot of people change the way they post, and a lot of the time it's for the worse. I've been trying to contain myself in this regard (often times I'll write out a reply, and if I've already lost interest by the end of it, I'll just go to another thread without posting it). I still miss DDF though. :cry:
 
oh yeah, Scorch and Zionoverfire pissed me off in my first bragging rights thread, but thats only because they were right to flame me for blatantly bragging about reselling ;-)

I'd like to add myself to the list...of when a CAG stops caring. I come on here often, as I'm sure the majority of you are aware of...but it's just not as friendly as it used to be. I'm a regular deal bringer with at least the weekly ads, but I think that's going to stop for a while. One reason is because I've typed up everything more than a few times and the site just craps out (a lot recently) and I lose everything I've typed up. Another reason is because a lot of CAGs take it for granted and think it's my job to type them up and post them (at the same time, i know a lot of CAGs respect the time and dedication it takes and thank me every chance they get...which i more than appreciate). Another reason is that the ads have been sucking dickswabs for the past couple of months, with the exception of a very small amount of deals here and there. I'm just starting to care less and less as time goes by. As the past has shown, my feelings on this will probably change back and forth from time to time as CAG develops and changes (and people get friendlier or assier).

All of that said, maybe that wasn't what you were looking for or maybe it was exactly what you were looking for. But as the half friendly, half smart ass, all blunt person that i am...I'll still continue to regularly post on here the same way as I always have. Also, I don't plan on leaving everyone out on INCREDIBLE weekly ad deals that I come across. I'm just not going to post every little thing that I see (at least until my attitude changes or the overall attitude of CAG changes).

Well, I've said it before, but I feel you are the single most valuable poster on CAG. You bring news of great deals with such regularity that no one else can approach your value.

I know you shouldnt have to do this, but (ctrl+A, ctrl+c) before ever post. I do... and its made my life so much easier since I've gotten into the habit.

I just wanted to let the "Fallen from Grace" CAGs are a welcome addition to the community, I just wanted them to be a little less assholish. I love debate as more than anyone, but telling the OP that he's a sad retard just because he stayed home from work to play Halo 2 is a little much.

CAG has changed alot in the last 6-12 months, and alot for the better.. but the community has gotten very new... and I'd love for the old schoolers to hang in there...

Maybe we can have our own topic thats locked for anyone under 1,000 posts... that would be kinda nice.

I think the main problem with you is mainly that you have a completely way out in left field opinion that gets misconstruded as you trolling... I've never had much of a problem with you... but you do tend to shoot from the hip and post shit without reading any other posts and say things like 'The real problem isnt Rockstar or the parents (Reguarding Hot coffee) its Action Replay.

I agree, I dont read full posts because I hate reading 4 paragraph posts that are complete shit, if I wanted that, I would be at gamefaqs, from now on ill try not to be opinionated, but its not really that I have a strong opinion, Its just that too many people have the same opinions here. Dont stop be opinionated, just use common sence and take the hits for being a troll from before... I have, and eventually everything settles over. Its just not worth it to go on and on about shit.

I'll be the first to admit that I lack tact, but I've gained some since I've been here... but I still need some major work.

Eventually, I'll get off some ignore lists and it'll all be good. This gaming community is only as good as you make it. Nothing more, Nothing less.

I don't hate anyone, even PAD, Rich, Scrubking, and CTLesq. It's always most fun when you get a chance to burn them.:lol: CAG would be a lot less interesting if everyone behaved and thought the exact same way. I expect obvious trollers to be banned, but I don't think anyone on these lists truly deserve that fate.

That being said, it's always sad to see people who were once regulars here leave. It's sad to see the site dynamics change as people leave and new people come. But don't hang on to the past or else you may miss out on a wonderful future.
 
Mookyjooky, electric troy was never cool...

He and father of caitlyn are the only people on my ignore list. As much as I'd like to add help1 to that list, I just can't do it because he has gotten somewhat better over time.

I agree for the most part, but so many people here have over 1000 posts, and are complete idiots, spammers, assholes, etc. Look at me for instance. Yes, no one really knows me for the simple fact that I don't really post much - I do look at good deals and post thanks and such forth... but the point is I have been here for almost 2 years and my post count is very weak. From what I see, the longer someone has been here, the less... crappy they are (if that makes any sense, it sounds really dicked I know). There should be an old-timers forum, one that also allows booting from the forum if voted on.

To the actual topic though, I used to not like Scorch (sorry man) until I realized why he does what he does - from what I see, he's actually a pretty cool poster.

Im on the same boat as you dont really post much except on the battlfield 2 clan thread ( we are excepting applications plz join plzplzplz ,......errrr oh sorry ) . Im an unknown which is fine and dosent bother me .

It's a good idea, unfortunately it will fail miserably.

Last winter sometime, CAG was pretty awful. Not only were there these people "falling from grace" as you said it, but there were people who had never been "anyone" to begin with trying to make names/reputations for themselves, but they were all just acting like asses. I made myself a going away post, not to draw attention but to bring light to the problem. A lot of my "friends" PMed me expressing support, while there were quite a few "Go away crybaby waaaaah there's no problem here NOOB" posts. Whatever.

However, apparently I wasn't too far off the mark, as it set off a pretty big thread about having a seperate forum for "regulars" or whatever. I'm not sure what the requirements were, but everyone that wasn't an asshole in the forums was for it, and all the assholes whined because they knew they'd be excluded. From what I understand, Defender actually made the forum, but he fucked up and didnt hide it and someone saw it on the forum list and started a huge bitch thread, so everyone was supposed to pass it off as a joke and it was deleted and not brought up again (or maybe it does exist, hidden OMG CONSPIRACY). So that's why that forum won't exist. The people that the forum is designed to avoid are the same people that will bitch/wonder about their non-inclusion.

I think there's a few problems with saying people are "faiing from grace" or whatnot. There really shouldn't be any "grace" to fall from - everyone is equal here whether their egos will allow them to admit it or not. Sure, some people's are much more enjoyable/coherent, but that doesn't put them on another level. Sure, there can be times when someone can be more popular or have a 15 minutes of fame (for example, after posting a fantastic deal, or making a really funny thread, or going after some loser scammer in Washington :)), but that's really all it is. When those people don't realize their 15 minutes are up, and start trying way too hard to impress their non-existant fan clubs, that causes a lot of issues.

Also, it's really not too healthy to put other users on a pedestal to begin with, because you are only gonna be disappointed when they can't maintain the same level of quality posting. This is just a very weak extension of someone's personality. I don't think Scorch goes around to stores and says "Hey, you already had that item on sale before, I'll show you last months flyer". I don't think Lina goes up to guys at the mall and says "Hey, I'm a porn star". I don't think JSweeney...wel, JS is probably more or less the same, but I hope he turns down the philosophy when there's estrogen around.

Just remember one thing: EVERYONE ON THIS SITE SUCKS EXCEPT FOR WLAU. It's true. Check his posts - 100% bullshit free

Well it's good to see no one thinks I've "fallen from grace" (but I don't know if I ever really had any). Though maybe they just haven't shown up to this thread yet :lol: Anyhow I sometimes feel like I don't do a whole lot for the CAG community and I do have numerous moments where I become the troll of that topic so to speak. I try to avoid it, but I still need to learn to let certain things slide and think more before I let off my mouth.
