When the **** did Garry's Mod cost money!!!????

I just installed Steam after a long time, wanted to install HL2 and Garry's Mod, but WTF, i just went on steam and it says I have to pay 10 bucks to use Garry's Mod.
When the did this shit happen?

or am i missing something? is there a free version?

Wow, I just checked his site and it looks like Garry's Mod 9 is no longer supported or something. As far as I know, or knew, Garry's Mod 9 was free whilst Garry's Mod 10 costs $10 and had extra features. But as of now, I'm not sure what the current situation is and it looks like you have to pay to play it now.

You can still use Garry's Mod 9 for free, but you'll have to buy Garry's Mod 10 (the one available via Steam) if you want regular updates and extra features.

Honestly, if you really love GMOD, I would just go ahead and plunk down the $10 for GMOD 10. It's worth it, IMO. It has a much more organized interface and just overall, the new features are great.

They didn't buy it, or at least I hope they didn't. They gave him the option if he wanted to sell it, and at first he said he would be embrassed if he actually charged people for it, but than like a month or two later it went up on stream for $10. Hell, CS was a mod, it's just the way the world works.

Yeah, it kinda sucks, but it's only $10 bucks, and I'm sure Team Garry is putting a lot of work into it.

I'll probably bite and get it sooner or later. I love making Garry's Mod comics, so I need the new features. I also noticed that the objects that were connected/welded/roped together looked a lot sturdier than they were in previous versions of the game.
