To be fair, even at the best places I could recommend, you would be paying around $20 to $25 for the Sega CD with all of the necessary cables, that's about it. Honestly, eBay is probably your best bet at the moment and for a reasonable price.
The only ways you could probably get it for under those eBay prices...hmmm...I'd say a generous CAG, a month or three of lawn sales/flea markets, or a deal from a friend. That's about it.
Sometimes you do just have to bite the bullet for something you want, though. If it helps offset that money out of pocket by what you saved elsewhere. I saved around $8K on the things I bought last year so $50 for one game here and $60 for a gem there worked out pretty well. Offset the "bad" with the "oh god yes" good.
